I use these for another purpose other than for hats. I have found them to be very strong and durable. I have never had one end piece fall off.

Exactly what you need to keep your hat on!
Such a silly little thing to need, but we needed them for our carriage driving hats! The cords came promptly and worked perfectly, with little pointy ends that pierced the hats between the sweatband stitches to be almost invisible in use. This is one of those kinds of gadgets that are so simple as to be laughable... but they work like a charm and will never be improved upon.
