Tamiya America, Inc 1/72 F51 Mustang Korean War, TAM60754

The F-51D Mustang is the postwar designation for the famous North American P-51D Mustang of World War II. The quality, fit & detail of the Tamiya 1/72 North American P-51D Mustang & North American F-51D Mustang model kits are entirely in a league of their own when compared to other kits of this aircraft type produced before or since. With their F-51D Mustang kit, besides the obvious decal selections, Tamiya was careful to add additional details that set the postwar Mustang apart from the wartime Mustang. It includes an optional Aero-Products paddle blade propeller which was frequently fitted to postwar F-51D Mustangs, 6 5" High Velocity Air Rockets, 2 500 Lb Bombs & the same 2 75 gallon drop tanks included with Tamiya's P-51D Mustang kit. Tamiya also went the extra mile by providing an all new rear canopy base so as to allow it to be fitted with one of two canopy options including the standard model or the more bulbous "Dallas Canopy." Finally Tamiya also included a model stand with this version of their 1/72 scale Mustang. This model kit is nearly universally recommended by builders of models in this scale & time period. It's only drawback is that oftentimes it's more expensive than the offerings from other brands. Still if you aren't intimidated by detail & you want to have the options needed for many post-war Mustangs straight out of the box then you'll absolute get what you paid for!

This F-51D kit is an excellent model. I have already built 10 of them and consider this kit as "the top of the line"!!

This is your typical Tamiya kit with lots of detail. To my surprise, allows for 3 variations along with decals, 2 props and canopies to support this. Also included are bombs, missiles and drop tanks. Don't forget to drill holes in the bottom of the wing to mount these, before gluing the top. Good value for the money. I would have given it 5 stars, except that it was sent in a plastic bag, allowing the box to get mangled, and to top it off, the box to sealed with masking tape. Definitely not usable as a gift.

This looks nice, but much smaller than expected. Bought for elderly father to work on, but it is too small for him to pick up tiny pieces to put together. This was a wasted purchase.

Tamiya ist immer gut. Kann ich empfehlen.
