Sloppy Joes Seasoning Mix, 1.3 oz (Previously Happy Belly, Packaging May Vary)

I bought this to pad a cart to $25. Glad I did. Great sloppy joe mix. Not too sweet like most other brands. For less than a dollar, it works great for sloppy joes and makes a pretty good spaghetti sauce too with a few spice additions. Recommended

I cooked this stuff like taco meat seasoning, mixed the browned, drained (I throw in 1/2 an onion and green pepper after the drain before the sauce) hamburger. Then, mixed the tomato paste in. This was not the proper distribution. Tasted almost identical to taco seasoned meat and tomato sauce thicker than ketchup or any sauce (which I prefer for sloppy joes). Anyway, the first day was meh. The second day, I guess when the seasoning spread into the tomato paste, IT HAD VASTLY IMPROVED. My advice is mix the seasoning and water first, then add the tomato paste, when making the sloppy joe sauce. Even if you mess it up, just wait a day. Worth a try if you've done canned sloppy joe sauces your whole life.

I bough a couple of packages of this Amazon Grocery, Sloppy Joes Seasoning Mix, 1.3 oz (Previously Happy Belly, Packaging May Vary). WHY I ORDERED THIS: - My husband and I were reminiscing about the Sloppy Joe School Lunch Sandwiches we used to get as kids in the 1960's and 1970;s. - I saw this mix and decided to give it a try. THE GOOD STUFF ABOUT THIS: - As long as you have some ground beef and a 6 oz. can of tomato past, you are ready to go! - Very easy to make. - Easy to add your own faves in this. - We added 1 Tbs. of dehydrated chopped bell pepper, 2 Tbs. of dehydrated minced onion and 1/4 Tsp of dehydrated minced garlic into the required 1 and 1/4 cup of hot water to rehydrate them. then added it to the beef, tomato paste and this Sloppy Joe Seasoning Mix when it was time. - Maybe it was my additions of the Bell Pepper, Onion and garlic; but this tasted way more like an all beef Chili, instead of how we remembered Sloppy Joes tasting. - We remembered Sloppy Joe's as being more sweet and maybe just a bit on the BBQ side. - Regardless, this was quite tasty,. - But for us, this Mix belongs in a Chili Cheese Burrito. or on a beef and bean Tostada instead. - We both love that the ingredients are pretty simple and not a lot of weird stuff! THE NOT SO GOOD STUFF ABOUT THIS: - Maybe not as sweet as the Sloppy Joes at School Cafeteria's back in the 60's and 70's? CONCLUSION: - Amazon Grocery, Sloppy Joes Seasoning Mix makes a pretty good, super quick, Chili for Burritos! - I might try adding Ketchup and then just half a can of tomato paste next time. - I'll also cut back around half of my dehydrated peppers, onions and garlic. - All-in-all, this Mix was pretty good and nice to keep on hand.

Ordered this, hoping for a Manwich-style sloppy joe - sadly disappointed. It's more like a chili packet - far too much cumin. Cheap and not bad, just not a sloppy joe - very dry, prepared according to directions.

Just used this last night and it met my expectations for my “sloppy joe” taste test and it was easy to use and the directions were clear. It also is easy to store and has a long shelf life due to it being dry seasoning in a sealed packet. I will be buying more of this in the future for sloppy joe night.
