Good sturdy and accurate watch

Excellent Casio Solar watch

The watch arrived today. It looks good and is a good weight. Not too heavy. Just right. A previous review stated that because a battery list fell out of the box it was not solar charged. The same list fell from my packaging. The same packaging that states that the watch has a non replaceable MT920 battery. This is a rechargeable cell. I suppose all the energy that it collects from the sun has to live somewhere.

The watch case is made of steel and feels solid in your hand.The hour and minute hands are sword like and in proportion to the face.There is also a day date window at the 3o’clock position.It’s available in black or blue finish.The yellow second hand ticks nicely around the dial and is driven by a solar movement so you shouldn’t have to replace the battery.It is held on your wrist with a soft rubber type strap of decent quality and comfort.Would recommend this Casio timepiece.

Some reviews I think are comparing this watch with similar watches and causing confusion. No there is no illuminating the watch face. You can see it in the dark only as long as the ‘glow in the dark’ pointers and marks on the face last. The watch has a very dark blue face, it is almost black and would appear so at a casual glance. The pointers of this watch are skeletal which is unusual in comparison to near similar looking Casio watches. Is it difficult to set up No if you can read and follow the included instructions. If you cannot read and/or follow simple written instructions it’s still easy to set up. You can mount the watch on a variety of straps including steel, rubber and leather, 22mm wide of course. The original strap that is fitted is comfortable, light and strong so why fit a cheapo, in comparison, strap Would I recommend this watch to a friend? Yes I would I’m a big fan of Casio and this watch fits the bill perfectly.

Well the first thing is I’m not stupid so when a battery list fell out of the watch packaging you can imagine my reaction it’s meant to be a solar powered watch so I took it to a jeweller to check an guess what it’s a bloody lie there’s a battery inside the illumination on the hands is fake an doesn’t work almost £85 nothing. What a scam.

The water resistance rating is more than adequate for things like washing your hands, swimming, or even time in a hot tub, though it’s not intended to be a true diving watch. The bezel is fixed rather than rotating, which may matter to some, but for general use it’s not a drawback. Comfort is good, though the included strap is on the longer side and has a more rugged feel. It works fine, but the watch really shines if you swap it out for a different band like a silicone or NATO strap—it completely changes the look and feel. Visibility is strong during the day with clear numerals and hands, though the lume at night is decent rather than exceptional. You can still read the time in low light, but it’s not the brightest option out there if that’s a priority. Overall, this is a great value. You’re getting a stylish, reliable, solar-powered watch that looks more expensive than it is and performs well for everyday use. It’s not meant to replace a professional dive watch, but for daily wear, casual water use, and long-term reliability, it’s a very solid choice.

Used it for about a week. So far accurate to the minute. The seconds hand aligns perfectly. Large watch. The size is almost exactly like Garmin Instinct but a bit flatter. It's very minimally larger than Seiko 5 automatic, but thinner, lighter and much more accurate. Unlike Seiko, the bezel is fixed, for decoration only. The lume is decent even after several hours in the dark, but definitely not as bright as Seiko's. The band is stiff but so far I didn't feel the need to replace it. I love the cheerful yellow minutes and seconds hands which contrast nicely with the dark blue face. If you want a good looking, very accurate watch without the need to replace batteries this Casio offers a good alternative to Seiko at 1/3 of the price. And you don't have the annoying issue of automatics which after two days of not wearing them simply stop and require total resetting.
