Excellent
High-quality, clean Sphagnum moss. It's a good orchid medium that holds both air and moisture, providing a healthy environment for root growth. Has a slow decomposition rate, so it holds up well for a long time, but not indefinitely. Replace when re-potting an orchid or when the moss begins to break down.

Great value for the price, good for plants.
I took a bit of a gamble purchasing this after reading so many negative reviews, but I think it is perfectly adequate for what it is - a large quantity of sphagnum for a very low price. Is it the highest quality sphagnum you can find? No. But terrarium grade, New Zealand-sourced sphag will run you around the same price for a much smaller bale. I personally also do not care that the weight of the bale may be slightly misleading. Once again, the price point is quite low, and moss is a natural material which means the weight will change a lot based on moisture level. There is organic material in the mix you'll want to remove before using it for plants (twigs, etc) but again - this is a budget product. I used this sphagnum to make moss poles for some of my climbing aroids, and will continue to use it to propagate some of my less picky plants. I would probably stick with the higher grade sphag for anything that is rare or harder to grow just because it will probably decompose much more slowly, and I probably wouldn't use this for terrariums with live animals. Overall I'm happy with the purchase and the value of the product.

A good substantial moss at a good price
I don't know if I lucked out, but I am very happy with the product I received. I ordered the "2.4" bag, which is really a "2.2" bag. I threw it on the scale just for fun and yah it was a little shy of 2.2. I am just going to assume that there was more moisture in it at the time of packaging. It's a moot point because there is TONS of moss in this bag. I took just a bit off the top and filled my entire prop box with lots leftover. This bag will last me a long time. I am also going to use this for wrapping poles and orchids. No, this isn't super premium looooooong strand moss. If you need that, look for the Besgrow brand, and you will pay for it too. For the rest of your non-premium needs, this brand is what you are looking for. I didn't pull it all out, but I lifted up several layers and saw no debris or mold. Nothing showing through the packaging, everything seems clean and as should be. For those complaining about roots and a few sticks- It's a NATURAL product, pulled out of nature. Natural things get mixed in it, like a few leaves or small sticks. If you want a product where someone has already handpicked it out, again, try Besgrow. In the amount I used, I found one tiny stick and a small root ball. It's a plant- you are going to find roots. Spag moss has long stringy roots. The moss fluffed right up and most strands are 3-8" long. No smell. I put plastic wrap over my leftovers- I will check each day for bugs and will report back if I find any. If I ever run out, I will order this brand again. This is also the brand all of the expensive nurseries around me carry. Update: no mites, flies, bugs, smell, mold of any kind in my test sample or prop box. My plants have rooted and are doing great!

Good price, good quality
Bought for using in terrarium soil mixes and for plant propagation. Now also using this in orchid mixes. This brand is much better than others I have found in stores; much more bulk per stem than other brands.

Seems good.
Kind of an ignorant purchaser here, but the product I received seemed good. There was a small amount of contamination with plastic debris, twigs, and leaves--but nothing that was a problem for my applications. I don't know if this is normal, but mine had a pinkish tint to it. When I planted a flower in it and added water in it, it looked a little a mass of slightly bloody feathers. That's not my favorite, but I am sure I can find some way to improve the appearance.

It does the trick
I used it to mount a Staghorn Fern and it works well enough to maintain the moisture for a few days. But I guess Staghorns soak up moisture through their basal fronds as well as through their roots. So even when the moss is dried up it will still be ok for a few days after. I’ve been giving mine a good soaking every week so far, but I read you can do it even less so I will see how it goes only doing it every other week. The moss looks lovely both wet and dry. I am using some to propagate a few plants and they seem to do well in it, probably because it creates enough air pockets for the roots to breathe. I would like to next tackle using the sphagnum to make a kokedama ball.

Very high quality
Nice big pieces of high quality moss. Well compacted so you get more than you think when looking at the unopened package. Useful for a wide variety of projects. I got it specifically for air-layering branches for cloning but will use it it for a lot of other plant related tasks. This is not the near-dust product sold for much less money; long and wide pieces hold together very well.

Very good moss, clean and packed well.
This moss is clean and nice to use. It expands well, and is packed tight in the packaging. There is definitely a lot of moss in the bag. It does come back to life and regrows green if given the right environment and humidity. My orchids and aroids love it.

Amazing amount for the price.
Huge amount for the price. No weird smell. After soaking overnight and fluffing it all, I picked about 6 handfuls of sticks, leaves, etc. out. Really not bad considering. Strands are mostly long which work great for moss poles. Fills my large flat bin perfectly everytime.

Great moss
Would buy again second best moss I’ve bought very dense and thick I didn’t weight it didn’t see a point it’s a large bale for honestly the best price I’ve seen. Moss is just expensive either way. 5 stars. Doesn’t smell bad either

Good quality but very expensive! The price although fluctuates quite a bit so it pays to check frequently.
