Set in a suburban fantasy world, Disney Pixar's ONWARD introduces two teenage elf brothers who embark on an extraordinary quest to discover if there is still a little magic left out there. (temp) Review: Family Fun - Onward is definitely a MUST SEE to take your kids to! It has some great underlining life lessons and morals to teach children. Trusting in yourself and having courage to cross an invisible bridge, trusting others to guide you, that sometimes when you are on a quest to find something of value that was lost... you’ll often find it in your own backyard as the journey went full circle and brought you right back home where you started. It teaches the value of sibling relationships. It teaches putting someone’s needs before your own wants. And it teaches us that even though we have lost someone to heaven, that they are still with us in so many other ways. I loved the movie! Children were laughing... As well as adults! It was hilarious and delightful! But yes, at the end there were a few older children and adults with tears. I was one of them. The ending is bittersweet, as they finally get to tell their dad goodbye. Take your kids, but be prepared for some tears, emotions and conversation if they have lost a parent to death or divorce. I lost my dad almost 10 years ago, and yet I had tears, wishing I could see him and hug him one last time. THIS IS A WONDERFUL MOVIE!!! Review: Excellent movie. Would recommend. - Excellent movie. Best family movie I've seen in a long time
The story line was well presented, and it wasn't even predictable, which is hard to find nowadays. The family relationships and learning who you really are really struck home. My only gripe would be that the ending concerning the father could have easily happened another way, though I understand why the makers of the film didn't take that route... ((((((((( If you haven't watched it, don't read this part in the parentheses! Skip to the end of the parentheses. Because the spell was cast again using a second gem, technically the time limit should have been restarted! I was disappointed that it wasn't, but I'm also glad that we got the heart-to-heart moment that Barley needed. ))))))))) And for those complaining about the subtle LGBT scene, that doesn't necessarily mean the one character was in a relationship like that. Plenty of women call their female friends "girlfriends." My parents, uncles, etc, have called my best friend my girlfriend a lot, but we're not in a romantic relationship. And even if that was meant to be a reference to LGBT, then it's not hurting anyone to include a very stigmatized part of the global population. If you don't want your children to get any idea, let them know you think that's not right, in a kind way. Don't scare them away from asking questions, and don't teach them hate either. This world has enough negativity. Anyway, you will probably enjoy this movie if you like any of these things: - Dungeons & Dragons and games related to it - familial love and "what would you do to protect them?" stories - action. There's quite a bit of action. - family movies - high-speed car chases - anything "outside the box" - "coming of age" stories - realization of what you really have - stories that might make you sob. I don't cry too easily, but I admit I shed a few tears. I'm probably missing some things, but this movie has a lot. 10/10; I would definitely recommend.

A somewhat standard coming of age story with Pixar’s usual charm.
I always look forward to Pixar films, mostly to see how visually stunning a movie created entirely in a computer can look with each passing year of technological and programming advancements. The other reason I will always go to see a Pixar movie is their dedication to a good story. Sure, there have been some missed steps over the years (The Good Dinosaur (2015) being the latest example), but their track record has been good enough to warrant me seeing their films in the theater. While I was looking forward to this year’s offering of Onward (2020), the result felt a little lackluster overall. Choosing to explore a storyline with a deceased parent was odd in that it felt like something that had rarely been addressed in movies geared toward children while also having a strong “after school special” vibe to it. Either way, putting it in a pseudo-Monsters, Inc. (2001) fantasy world was a fun way to deliver this tale of two brothers on a road trip to find a way to bring their father back for a single day. I laughed out loud at the freeze-frame jokes that I picked up on (my favorite being the “Mountain Doom” soda can), and I’m sure I’ll have to pause it a bunch of times if I pick it up to own at some point. While the “coming of age” story felt a little weak overall—having been done a ton elsewhere—the emotional impact of the last 10-15 minutes had me ugly crying in the way that Pixar films always do. I liked the climax of this film, but there were times where I thought the focus of the action completely forgot about the father’s legs (which themselves were the source of plenty of superb visual gags). Is this Pixar’s best film? Probably not. Is it better than the other CGI animation out there? Most definitely. A somewhat standard coming of age story with Pixar’s usual charm, I give Onward 3.5 stars out of 5.

Peccato.
