Why does all the 8*2(16gb) gskill ripjaws 5-3200mhz say only supported chipset is z170? wont it fit on my z270 ?

Yes most certainly will work. It says Z170 because this DDR4 RAM was released at the same time as the Z170 chipset (6th gen intel core i series) launch date. DDR4 is compatible for nearly all consumer market and enthusiast grade motherboards requiring DDR4 RAM. Only exception is the ECC REGISTERED (SERVER / WORKSTATION MOTHERBOARDS) DDR4 * Double Data Rate 4= 4th generation

Not sure. But for what it's worth, if you go Intel I'd go 8700k. Otherwise I'd go Ryzen (which this ram works phenomenal with)
