Question 1

Will it hold a very small pill? My cat needs to take a tiny little pill for hyperthyroidism. Thanks for your help:)

My cat takes the little pills for hypothyroidism, half of one twice a day, so the vet's office suggested using half of a pill pocket for each pill, and that's just enough for the half pill. Only once in a little over a month was it not enough and the pill ended up on the floor, I probably didn't break off quite enough or roll it up well.  As long as you have enough to cover the pill, you should be good. They break up and mold together very easily.

Question 2

If my cat doesnt eat the treat right away will the treat taste like the pill? Should i just throw the treat away andx save the pill and try a new one?

If kitty picks it up in their mouth and drops it without eating, it tends to get really wet and sticky.. And my cat won’t touch it once it’s sticky, so I will tear the pill pocket away from the pill and wrap in a new piece and try again in a little bit. If the pill pocket sits out for a length of time it will start to dry up and harden a bit. My cat prefers them “fresh” and soft out of the package. I do not think the taste of the pill will come through the pill pocket though, if your cat ignores it for awhile. It’s helpful to use as little as the pill pocket as possible, the smaller you are able to get the wrapped pill, the easier it is for kitty to gobble it down rather than bite it which will normally make them spit it out. I use about 1/3 of a pocket on each pill I give my cat. It’s easy to tear and very malleable.

Question 3

How can this work for a capsule/pill unless a cat is one that wolves down their food? Wouldn't they just eat around it?

My cats do better when I pinch off about a third of the pill pocket, making it smaller. Then I make a ball with what remains and press the pill pocket onto/into the pill - I don't even have to touch the pill at all if I use my fingernail or something to push the pill deeper inside. If I use a whole one, they can eat around the pill. I make sure the pill  pocket is squished onto the pill-no air around it. If the pill is bad tasting, the cat will probably only  "fall for it"  once

Question 4

What has happened?  I can't find chicken, and the salmon is useless.  It crumbles when you try to pinch it around the pill.  Help!

I routinely buy the salmon, and it is very moist and doesn't crumble. I find that they all get crumbly if they're old and/or have been open for a while. They get somewhat dried out. Try buying them one package at a time and know that the longer you have the product open, the more crumbly it gets. If they get crumbly, try a drip or two of water to soften a pill up before using it.
