Smooth, Strong & Shiny Hair ✨
This keratin has made such a difference in my hair! It leaves it feeling softer, smoother, and much easier to manage while adding a beautiful healthy shine. If you’re looking to revive dry or damaged hair, this is definitely worth trying. Healthy hair starts with the right care—give your hair the love it deserves!” ✨💕

Highly recommend if you’re fighting frizz!!
I live in NC, where the humidity gets CRAZY during the Summer. I have chin length, fine, thin hair that develops a bizarre wave/curl pattern in humid conditions. I tend to blow dry it straight, which works well until I step outside; within 2 minutes my ends start to curl and it transforms into a frizzy mess. I’d basically given up on my Summer frizz until I found out you could do keratin treatments at home. I hadn’t considered them before because my salon charges almost $400 for the service—just not in my budget. After doing some research I decided to give Keragen a try, and I’m so glad I did! I’m totally blown away by the results! My hair stays smooth and glossy even in 90% humidity!! A caveat is that I do still have to blow dry to achieve that smooth and glossy effect. If I let my hair air dry it’s definitely less frizzy than it would be without the treatment, but not so much that I’d wear it down that way. Still, for me it’s a total win. This was my process: -I washed my hair twice with ouia clarifying shampoo, then brushed it out thoroughly (which was a pain) -I let my hair air dry about 75%, then brushed again and applied the mixture. I sectioned my hair by putting it all in a clip on top of my head, then removing layers beginning at the bottom of my head—the same way I would blow dry—and brushed the product through my hair to make sure the hair was well coated. I probably did about 6 sections/layers, which worked well for my fine, short hair, but also for my daughter’s long, thick hair. -Because my hair is fine and thin, I only left the product on for about 25 minutes, combing through my hair every 10. My daughter’s long, thick hair took the entire 60 minutes. -I thoroughly rinsed my hair with warm water, then applied a generous amount of k18 leave in conditioner. -I let my hair air dry most of the way, again, then applied a heat protectant-styling product, and blow dried my hair on high heat with my brush-dryer -I then heated a flat iron to 400* for my hair, closer to 450* for my daughter, and flat ironed sections 10 times each to seal in the treatment. -I waited 48 hours before washing again. So far, it’s a week later and my hair is still humidity proof and frizz free!! The entire process took less than an hour, and again, I’m blown away by the results. For my short hair there are at least 5 uses worth of product, although for my daughter’s 14” long hair it’s probably closer to 2. Still, this is such a bargain when compared with salon treatments. Just be sure to apply it and straighten it in a WELL VENTILATED AREA. While this product doesn’t contain formaldehyde, there are still some serious chemicals in this stuff! I highly recommend, and hope this way too long review is helpful!

Great results and super easy to apply
I would give it a 10-star rating if I could. This keratin treatment works perfectly. I was a bit skeptical at first, so I read the instructions for a whole week before deciding to go ahead with it. I washed my hair twice with a clarifying shampoo and carefully applied the keratin. I waited 45 minutes and then rinsed it out. Afterward, I applied a hair mask, let it sit for about 5 minutes, rinsed it off, and dried my hair completely. The result was super straight, frizz-free hair that felt incredibly soft. I decided to use a flat iron on it, and it looked even better. I waited 4 days before washing it again, and when I did, my hair was simply perfect—completely frizz-free, super soft, and straight.

Great product
I used it for the first time with a friend and it left her hair very shinny and smooth.

Less frizzy hair
This is my first keratin treatment, so I wasn’t too sure on what to expect. I have really really puffy 2c hair, and if I don’t use curl products it will be insanely puffy. My hair is also really long and goes to my mid lower back. Even when I use my hair straighter usually, it will be mostly smooth but with frizz on the ends. No matter how much I straighten it. The only thing that worked to smooth it out before was color wow. I applied it like how the instructions said, and at first I was blown away! My hair was so so straight, like Asian hair straight. No frizz in sight! This was the first time in my 21 years of life that my hair looked so perfect and straight. Also, there were barely any fumes. I didn’t notice my eyes burning and I didn’t smell anything bad. I left my hair straight for 2 days, and then I washed it. I know you’re supposed to blow dry your hair to help it, but I let mine air dry. I definitely still have waves, and still have frizz. But it is significantly better! Like looking at my hair now, I would say it’s 2a-2b, and about half as frizzy as it was before. I could totally go out of the house like this, and I didn’t even put any leave in conditioners in it like I usually have to. My hair was damaged before from straightening it almost every day, and looking at the ends I only see a couple more split ends so I don’t think it damaged it much worse. Also, for the process I didn’t use their shampoo or hair mask which maybe would have helped. I just used suave clarifying shampoo, and I used my Eva nyc hair mask. Also, my hair is so much less tangled. Overall, I would 100% do this again. It didn’t get straight like I was expecting, but it cuts down my styling time so so much.

Avoid this product
I don’t normally write reviews but this is bad enough that I feel compelled to warn others. I have used the other formula for this brand with much more success. The directions for this formula required less steps- just apply it to wet hair after washing with a clarifying shampoo, let it sit 24-40 mins, rinse it out and use a conditioning mask, and then business as usual (blow out and straighten). I have long, poofy undyed hair with various curl patterns around my scalp. By my neck I have tight curls that dread and break with brushing. Along the top it’s more smooth. The first thing I noticed when I was rinsing it out was that my hair was now “stretchy” when wet, and a bunch was breaking off and falling out. This is telling me some serious damage occurred. Blow drying took far longer than usual. My hair felt “squeaky clean” after rinsing and using a mask in the shower, but felt slimy with product when I went to blow dry with a round brush. After drying and straightening, my hair all over is incredibly dry, dull, brittle, course, and tangly, but looks greasy near the roots. There is still frizz, even after heat. It feels weighted down. It is less poofy, but it does not look good. It is not at all sleek or shiny like it usually is after a Brazilian blowout. I am extremely disappointed with the damage and lack of effect of this product. I have been growing my hair for years and am finally reaching my desired length, but feel I am going to have to chop up to 4 inches to get it healthy again. Strongly advise against this product.

Does it work? Yes. Does it smell? Also yes.
So I used this product, and I found that it’s definitely help my hair feel more manageable, and help a bit with how my ends are dry and a bit damaged (though, this was my first use of the product, so take that as you will). I only specify cause A) I didn’t use heat on my hair afterwards, cause my hair’s already damaged, and B) it didn’t change the looks, but that wasn’t my focus, I cared more about trying to prevent some of the dry fraying. However, the smell (which smells like you tried to cover up a medicinal soap with potpourri) is not only fragrant, but it lingers on other surfaces, including towels and bathtubs, and it didn’t go away until I cleaned my bathtub. So, if you’re sensitive to smells, then I wouldn’t recommend this, cause then it’ll be within the vicinity until you clean your towels and your bathtub, along with your hair. Otherwise , it works pretty well.

Exactly the subtle gentle change that I was looking for.
I wanted a subtle change and this product worked well for that. I liked how my hair looked and felt when I was done. My hair is straight and smooth to the top and front (the crown), and wavy to the sides and back, and at the very back of my neck gets very wavy. So what I did was apply the product for 20 minutes then washed it off and used the conditioner for 10 minutes then rinsed that off, then blow dried and flat ironed. Super smooth results. When I washed my hair for the first time as it air dried I could see a definite loosening of the wave patterns to the back. So it’s gentle and if you like to wash and air dry like me you will enjoy the subtle difference it makes. You can also flat iron if you prefer that look. I just wanted to be able to wash and air dry (and not flat iron) and not have to deal with any frizz. As far as this goal went (no frizz) it was a difference, but I would have liked a more dramatic change there. So what I did after a bit less than a month is use the clarifying shampoo again and this time leave the product on for the full hour (more time for the parts to the back) This way it was more effective. The parts of my hair to the front, I stayed with the 20 minutes time frame… so basically I put it on the back, then waited about 40 minutes then put the product on the rest of my hair to the top / crown that is not wavy / straighter and that worked well for me. I am the type that washes my hair often, so for me, I would probably use this maybe every 4 to 5 weeks. I have seen no signs of damage whatsoever to my hair which is great. Basically, I am very pleased with this product overall. I think this Formaldehyde free version is a good option for me because I am definitely not keen on that formaldehyde smell and / or having to leave a product that has chemicals in my hair for days and days. In the past I did try a traditional keratin (with formaldehyde) many years ago... but I didn’t like the process - the smell - or the results AT ALL. I didn’t like the chemical smell …or the “stick straight” look. I prefer a more natural / softer bounce to my hair and this product definitely achieves that. I can use it and flat iron for that sleek look… or ….. I can wash and let it air dry as I wish - which is what I usually do. When I let it air dry I get a really nice effect … more natural looking than that “stick straight” flat ironed look. This is my preference and this works for me. For those of your that like the "stick straight" effect - consider the chemical version….although I haven’t tried this brands formaldehyde version… so I can’t say how effective it is. I definitely do recommend this brands formaldehyde free version. It works for me and it gave me exactly the effect I was hoping for. Fuss free lower maintenance hair that I can just wash and air dry and go..! I haven’t tried their shampoo and conditioner as yet because I already have a bunch of other sulphate free shampoos…. When mine are finished I definitely will try theirs. I did try the smooth polish / oil but not on the first application. On that first time I didn’t use the smoothing oil… I used it on the second application a few weeks later. I like it. It definitely adds shine and I would also buy this again. Overall I am VERY happy with this purchase. Maybe I will also upload some pics next time I use it. I do think the directions from the manufacturer could be a lot clearer. I found there was one set of instructions on the bottle and another on the website. That needs to be addressed. If you found my review helpful, click to indicate that. I wish other people would give reviews - honest reviews - that way it would make shopping easier for all.

Natural waves not straight hair!
Is good if you want to relax curls as it does not straighten your hair fully (I’ve used just once) I really like it the result looks natural and my hair is not damaged. The process is also easier than other keratin treatments as you have to iron it after rinse it out before.
