I like good gin, so I am kind of picky about the tonic I put on it. I've tried many kinds and was attracted to this one because it is sugar-free Elderflower, which is hard to find, and I had never tried a tonic syrup that you mix with seltzer or club soda This tonic is different than any I have tried. It is very quinine forward and has a little more bitterness than other tonics. But, it works really well with my gin and it will be a regular in my cabinet. It you like interesting flavors, I would recommend this.

This review is for "Top Hat Keto Sugar Free Elderflower Tonic Syrup & Quinine Concentrate." We had already tried the original Top Hat concentrate (not sugar free) and it was an average to decent, passable tonic syrup. Not quite as good as Q or Fever Tree, but better than most national or generic brands and convenient to keep around. There aren't very many sugar-free tonic options that use natural sweeteners like monk fruit, so we really wanted to like this other, sugar-free product. The bottle claims that along with cinchona for quinine, it contains "grapefruit, elderflower, [and] chamomile." When opening the bottle, I noticed a strong wave of cheap drug store cough syrup scent. My drinking partner said the same thing aloud, unprompted by me. The taste (paired with Beefeater and sparkling water at the recommended ratio) matches the smell, unfortunately. There is zero complexity, just overpowering, sickly sweetness and perhaps muddled floral flavors, but the normally bitter cinchona doesn't hold up to the sweetness, nor is there any tang or bitterness from the grapefruit. There is no balance or flavor progression, just one disgusting note. If someone handed this to me to smell or made me a drink with it, there is absolutely zero chance I would guess that it was a tonic syrup. I would be very unlikely to guess that the main "note" was elderflower. Even though it uses natural extracts for flavoring, the taste has much more in common with extremely low quality products that use artificial flavoring, which seems bizarre in contrast to something like St. Germaine which has a lovely, complex set of elderflower flavors. I appreciate the concept of this syrup, and that it is made with natural ingredients and monk fruit rather than synthetic flavors and sweeteners, but I think the execution misses the mark completely. Please rethink this one, boost the quinine and bitterness, and back way off the unnecessary extras if not removing them entirely. I'm not sure if I got a bad batch, but it is virtually undrinkable, and also unreturnable thanks to Amazon's "grocery" policy I didn't realize applied to this product.

I love gin & tonics. I have for quite some time made my own tonic water with tonic syrup, so that I could increase the "tonic" flavor. However, that can add up to alot of liquid calories. In an effort to make my G&T's a bit more waistline friendly, I found TopHat. It is a bit sweeter tasting than regular tonic syrup, but it is loads better than any diet tonic water I have tried.

The title/product has 'tonic' in it. A lot of reviews repeat the same thing so I don't want to abuse an already long-deceased equine... but this is really nowhere near 'tonic water', so get that out of your head. The taste is fine but it is quite different from anything resembling tonic water. The flavor leans very heavily towards a more floral, almost herbal tea vibe. Again, good if that is what you are looking for, but it's far from the traditional tonic water flavor most expect. I did also find that their recipe calls for a rather significant amount of syrup to be used. I don't see it as concentrated as a typical Soda Stream flavor. I needed nearly a third of a cup for one large bottle of water. Results may vary, of course, but that's my experience.

I like the strength of syrup and found it had a fair amount of bitter flavor to it but the herbals thrown in were a bit off for me. I will finish the bottle but for the price I just expected to be wowed a bit more with the flavor. I want whatever it is mixed with to give it the highlights and this to support it. I honestly would say it tries to hard to be a best actor rather than be comfortable in its role as a supporting actor.

It is so hard to find sugar free drinks and mixes that don't use the "bad" sweeteners - aspartame, sucralose - but this has given me back gin and tonics on keto with a "good" sweetener.

I really wanted to love this, but I just don't. Too bitter.

Super rare to find sugar free and it doesnt have sucralose and fake sweeteners. So it is a perfect product
