This cape turned out better than expected. It fits my husband and my son. There is barely a hair that escapes the cape. When I'm done cutting, I gently guide the hairs to one section and let them spill into the garbage pail. No more sweeping or vacuuming. A nice time saver.

Bought this for at home haircuts. Works pretty well for catching hair and I can basically shake it mostly clean. Getting it on and positioned correctly on your shoulders is a bit difficult, much easier with a second person. Likewise, once it is full of hair, you have to be careful removing it so that you spill the hair. Again, much easier with a second person. If someone else is cutting your hair, this works pretty well. For a single person, I would not recommend trying it because of the awkwardness of getting on and off. It "folds" up by twisting it; however, they don't give you any type of bag of clasp. I ended up finding a really large rubber band to keep it closed during storage, just wish it came with something out of the box.

I have been cutting my husband's and kids' hair forever and a nice hair-cutting cape is a necessity. I was trying this one because in the Summer I cut their hair on the back porch so I can just blow the hair off with a leaf blower instead of sweeping or vacuuming it like a haircut in the bathroom. Plus, it is much nicer to be outside. Well, those long black plastic hair-cutting capes will cause the guys to sweat like they are in a sauna and if you dare take a bit too long cutting their hair outside on a nice Summer day, they will start whining and crying like freakin' little girls who lost their Barbie's prom handbag. So, this cape works better than a long one because the lip thing catches a bunch of the hair before it hits the ground and the guys do not get as hot and sweaty because it is significantly shorter. Now.... will my husband use the darn thing while trimming his beard so he won't spray coarse thick, beard-hair bits all about the bathroom vanity and sink? Nope.... of course not, but it may just be a matter of whacking him about the head and shoulders with a thick towel a couple more times.

It's convenient when you need to give a hair cut on the whim. Quality is so so. It's thin and after several uses it starts to loose its shape and won't catch hair as well.

I bought this item based upon both review and product photos. I was very disappointed in what I received. The wiring used to hold the cape in place is very thin and the weight of the cape pulls the cape down and not in the bowl shape that is shown in the picture. Also the cape has some straps that are seen into place to help hold the cape in place, but the straps are always being pulled down due to the amount of fabric being used for the cape. Because the cape could not hold its shape, most of the hair I buzzed off ended up on my floor. The pluses from this item are that this setup is 1) easy to clean and 2) easy to bend back into the small plastic bag it was shipped in for storage (no storage bag was provided). I find it hard to recommend this product at this time.

** UPDATE UPDATE ** October 2022. We still use it. We still love it. No rips or tears. However somehow the rim got warped. Someone folded it weird a few times and now it’s just confused, won’t lay in a perfect circle. Doesn’t catch hair in the back because it flips up. But catches hair everywhere else. I’ll have to see if I can fix or McGyver the rim. ************* I have 3 boys - 12, 17 and 48. The 12yo hates getting a haircut because it gets crazy itchy. He is squirmy and makes giving a decent haircut hard. The 17yo sits still but complains the whole time "are you done yet? what about now? how much hair are you cutting?" The husband stoically sits still and allows the cut. Enter this weird flying saucer type contraption. They gave me weird looks, the husband said "another weird amazon purchase..." Snapped it on and it was perfect. Hair was captured in the bowl and made clean up easy. No itchiness, no complaints. I'm so glad I purchased this. It is thin so I'm careful with it. It's like thin mylar. With care, it will last. The only negative is it's not made for skinny kids. I had to use clips to hold it closed for my 12yo.

Catches beard and hair trimmings. Keeps vanity and sink clean. But then um ... Lift off carefully, take outdoors, shake out. Upwind. Trimmings don't stick. Getting them out of it and into a garbage bag or trash can is VERY tricky. But the catching part is great. The trimmings got a little static going on in there. So going into a plastic trash bag they were very clingy to that bag. There was vacuuming involved. But not cleaning the sink, counter, floor, rug. Next time maybe the hand vac straight into the catcher. Definitely moves your mess to a less objectionable location

Does what it’s supposed to do! It is a little goofy looking but it keeps the hairs off my kids neck and keeps it from falling to the floor making clean up sooo much easier. And it didn’t get in my way while cutting his hair. So a win in my book! We tried to do a towel with a clip around the neck to keep hair off before getting this but it would always end up coming undone or my kid would tug at it. Worth the money!
