I really like this gate. It's very nice and easy to use. What I really like about the gate is it nice and light to carry. I ordered it for our new puppy. I would highly recommend this gate.

Tall enough for puppy not to climb or jump over and sturdy for the price. Extends wide and short enough. I would recommend.

It's a baby gate. It works, it's tall, but they aren't built like they used to be. Prior to this one we had a plastic one whose mechanisms shattered after about a year of use. So we bought this one because we have another like it that one of the grandparents used on us as kids (i.e 30 years old) and it has stood the test of time; still strong and keeps my baby out of places we don't want him to be. So this has an improved locking mechanism which makes it easier to size up to the space you need. But the joints are weak. My (2 year old (25 months)) son was running toward the kitchen and not only knocked the tightly secure gate down, but broke one of the corner joints. The other (30 year old, wood frame) gate has been run into, banged on, kicked, jumped over (by us) and not even flinched from it's doorframe, just a little disappointed in the craftsmanship of today.

I don't know why the reviews were negative. This gate holds in a Doberman and a Pit between our kitchen and living room. Its great cuz they can see through it but don't bother trying to go through it. When its placed properly under the correct tension, its perfect. I put a green mark on the wood so I use the same adjustment everytime. You do need to be conscious and use some common sense opening and closing the gate so it lasts. Its a good product.

These gates are ok for the price but we found them not worth the trouble and are returning them in favor of the admittedly much more expensive gates with a door. If you have an entry to block that's towards the smaller end of the size range for these and don't need to remove/replace it often these are perfect. We had one in a smaller entry and it was fine. However for the larger ones these stink. They don't slide easily and the brace bows out a bunch when locked in the larger doorway. They also make quite a racket and an enthusiastic puppy slams against them trying to get at the cats. Also, they will wreck your walls and paint.

Super easy to install, doesn’t mark up your walls, and truly fits wide hallways. The “Quick-Fit” memory lock is a helpful feature as well. It’s like a slightly modernized version of the gates my parents used for my childhood dogs and me in the 90s. Great for pets— I use it to keep my dog and cat upstairs at night. The pressure mount is strong enough to withstand forceful, “let me out!” headbutts from my Siamese cat and clumsy body slams from my Black Lab. After trying out gates from different brands, this is, by far, the best gate I’ve found. *I do not know how my experience with its sturdiness compares to babies/young children. As with any gate, there is always a risk of harm.*

I expect 3 things from a baby gate: 1) It should be easy to expand to the right size to block the area I need. 2) It should be easy to retract when it is time to remove the baby gate. 3) It should be sturdy enough that it can last through weeks of daily use. This gate fails on all counts. The push button toggle on the sizing assembly is unnecessarily difficult to use, and it can't quickly be expanded or retracted. It constantly gets stuck on too small a size when expanding, and it's not at all clear when the sizing assembly is locked vs. still sliding. This gate broke after only 3 days of use. The wooden sizing beam broke next to the sizing button. It no longer keeps any tension and now has to be propped up with chairs and other furniture. Yes, it is still technically keeping our little one confined, but I can't trust that it will stay standing if a serious attempt is made to knock it over.

This gate is wonderful. It fits perfectly into the door that we needed blocked. It is just high enough that our cats are not interested in seeing if they can overcome it. The rubber pads on the sides keep from marking the paint on the door jambs. The design for remembering the width of the door is great, it does exactly as advertised. it is sturdy
