It's a beast
I am almost entirely pleased with this saw. I use it in an Alaskn CHainsaw mill. Things I like. It has power starts up fairly quickly, was relatively inexpensive and does a great job. Best of all it is such a great knock off that Stihl parts are interchangable. Chain adjustment screw stripped after a couple of uses, but I bought another on Amazon cheap and was back in business. Saw had trouble starting after a few uses and I was frustrated, but I diagnosed the problem being electrical. An minor ajustment of gap on magneto and it starts and runs like a champ...I mean Stihl. Parts are fairly cheap plastic but it seems to be holding up. I paired it with a Holzforma 36" bar and chain and I love it. The whole rig is heavey though and loud. Wear ear protection. If you don't have the money for a Stihl and are patient and not a pro. I recommend this product. I've had it for almosta year now and it uslly starts right up, but engine is prone to flooding every now an then so I need to let it sit a while before it will start again. Definitely worth the money.

Slices trees and costs!
I felled a 32" maple tree and wanted to slab it as I had seen youtube videos of it. Did plenty of research (youtube) and decided I would either gamble on this clonesaw or make firewood. I have one large tree and this would be it. Not worth spending over $2000 on saw, bar, mill & chain. Many reviews of this saw are positive but some buyers complain about problems starting it, leaking, and horrendous Farmertec customer service. One of the sellers on Amazon buys in bulk and sells domestically so instead of 2 months delivery, it's like 4 days. Also contacted seller about warranty and he said that although Farmertec fulfills the warranty, he had stock to cover any issues in the meantime. Bought the saw, a 42" Oregon bar, Woodland Pro ripping chain, and $69 48" alaskan mill on Amazon. I am halfway through slabbing the maple tree. It is a lot more work than the youtube videos let on. Overall, I give chainsaw slabbing 3 stars. This G660 though, 5 stars! I've never used an 066 and assume it's better but I have now put about 6 tanks through my G660 without any issues at all. Now to figure out where I am going to store these 16 foot long maple slabs. Three minor issues to report though your mileage may vary. One: the small metal flap that protects the bar oil cap was busted off when I unpacked it. It must have been broken in shipping. If I broke it unpacking it then I would have to blame the manufacturer anyways. I decided it didn't matter for me as slabbing would eliminate anything banging the cap and was too excited to stop. Two: the directions to start the chainsaw were a little unclear in my opinion and I think I flooded it for the first hour that I tried to start it. For anyone else who buys this and reads this review...pull the starter handle in full choke until the saw "offers" OR IF THE DECOMPRESSION VALVE POPS. Then switch it to "1", push decompression valve again, and pull handle. I kept it in full choke and pulled and pulled and repressed the valve over and over until I saw a video that said repeatedly pulling the handle in full choke will inevitably flood any saw. When the decompression valve pops out, it offered, basically. Even if you didn't heard it rumble. I've now started it like 30 times and this always works for me. Three: I had to tune the carburetor. This isn't a big deal and you should expect to have to do it. I only add this because if I had not tuned the saw, it wouldn't be able to fully throttle up and the chain would spin at all times, both issues solved with tuning but could lead a buyer to think the saw was faulty.

1 year review
1 year of putting this bad boy to the test. Still running great. Right now it’s my primary saw, my Stihl 025 is under repair, this thing still pops in 3-4 pulls cold. I run a stihl 32inch bar on it. I see a couple reviews talking about it failing with Alaskan chainsaw mill.. would not recommend. Plastic parts seem softer and cheaper than stihl. My dad has lit a stihl on fire milling.. that process is rough on saws. I wouldn’t recommend this saw to a pro. Maybe a startup company but for someone that wants a big saw for under half the price? This thing does what it’s supposed to do. Assembly was tough. Manual is garbage. Ended up only installing one of the 2 dogs.. most have lost one of the bolts for it still only running the inside dog. Carb was surprisingly dialed in. Don’t believe I’ve made any adjustments. I run stihl gas mix, use regular 87 octane gas because my saws get ran a lot. Having issues with the chain tensioner.. I can get it mostly tight but it feels like I’m going to snap it if I twist anymore. Replacement part on here says is compatible with the stihl version but not this saw which is disappointing because I was only intending on replacing with stihl parts so I’m not sure what the future holds there, but overall definitely worth the 305$ and then some. Was not expecting it to be as powerful and reliable as it is.

ENGINE SEIZED UP IN THE FIRST START AT IDLE
The very first thing I did after assembling the saw was put fuel in it and start it. It took a lot of pulls to get it to fire on choke, then at least 10 more pulls to get it to run. It seemed to run well, so I let it idle to break in the moving parts in the engine. It only ran for a few minutes and then shut down. The engine seized up and it will not turn. Maybe I got a bad one, but to spend over $300 for a cheap saw that I can do absolutely nothing with, except waste my time assembling it and starting it to have it seized up on me before I was even able to use it, is indefensible. There's no "returns" through Amazon and so far "customer service" has not been helpful, as they asked me a question I answered in the first message and have not presented any resolution. I will be updating this review if they make it right and send me a saw that works. Also: There was absolutely no assembly instructions in the box. I had to find a YouTube video to know how to assemble the thing. Inside the user manual, there are also errors in the information, so you better know how to operate a saw before buying this (if you can even get one that runs).

So far, quite impressed with this saw. Set up was pretty easy, little gas can seemed cute at first but was actually very convenient for mixing. 2 mixing options are confusing, 32:1 in setup pamphlet, 25:1 in manual, so went 25:1 for break in period. Started 3rd pull, and sure glad it has decompression switch. Added a 24inch bar and chain combo from Amazon, cuts fast and without hesitation.

I received saw very quick but 36 inch bar and chain I ordered is stuck at customs. As others said handle was a bit difficult to line up but not a problem. two loose bolts that needed tightening otherwise quick to set up. Fired up on forth pull let idle for 1/2 hour. bought to use on alaskan mill but can see I will use for some firewood. I just purchased a new Husqvarna 55 cc for twice the price so cant wait until to try them both. I will update later on after few hours use

Very impressed with the power of the saw and quite happy with the performance, I’ve been milling lumber with this saw on my Norwood P14 mill and the only thing I had bad about this saw is I broke the bar adjusting screw. By the looks of it, it’s was due to poor manufacturing, thankfully these saws cross over with stihl so I put OEM stihl parts in they fit and work perfectly.

Very cheap plastics had to force the wrap around guard to put it together and onto ran for around 20 minutes before it would not start again

Its been on my alaskin mill 2 years straight and still runs like the day i got it. Starts easy and I havent replaced anything on it yet and i work it hard. The chain tensioner feels iffy like it might strip so im pretty careful with it. Ill probably upgrade that with a actual stihl one in the future. Id recommend especially for an alaskin mill, why risk blowing up an expensive saw when this does the job.
