Great for running, and for breathing issues
I guess I should say upfront that if there might be any medical reasons that using something like this could cause you difficulty, you should check with a doctor first... I got this to help improve my breathing when running and cycling. I use it for around 5 minutes every day, and I think it makes a difference. It is hard to say how much of a difference, but I have certainly noticed an improvement in my breathing capacity since using it. I have also gone for a few periods of time without using it, when I was on holiday, and again noticed a bit of a drop in performance as a result which picked back up when I went back to using it every day. It takes a bit of trial and error to get a setting that provides enough resistance to each breath without being too restrictive, but adjusting it is easy - just twist the dial and gradually keep adding resistance until you get to the right level for you. There are various similar things like this out there that are app enabled etc and I have no doubt they might give a bit more of a benefit over time - but they are also significantly more expensive than this little device and unless you are a professional or very very serious athlete, the difference is probably going to be negligible. Cleaning it is easy - just run it under hot water and wipe off. My grandad eventually got one of these too as he was struggling a bit with his breathing and had found he was starting to struggle just with going up and down the stairs. He uses it in the morning when he gets up, just sitting in bed using it for 5 minutes or so. He has noticed an immediate difference. He isn't going to be running marathons any time soon, but he is no longer struggling to breathe when going about his day to day activities. Given it is pretty inexpensive, I would definitely recommend giving it a shot if you want to improve your breathing a bit.

Good product
I had been using a power breath some years ago which only trains muscles associated with inspiratory breath so I decided to search for a respiratory trainer that also provides resistance on expiritory breaths and this peace of equipment does just that. It provides resistance for both breathing in and out which trains different respiratory muscles. For example your core / abdominal muscles are also associated respiratory muscles and are exercised when forcing breath out into resistance along with particular muscles between the ribs (intercostals). This is a good piece of kit and easy to use, you can set different resistance for in & out breath. I am unable to comment on its effectiveness or any positive outcome as I have not committed to using on a daily bases, however used regularly it may improve breathing performance as respiratory muscle will react to strength training as any other skeletal muscle group would with resistance training. The price was also attractive seeing as the power breath units can be very expensive so that was also a plus.

Good for BP reduction experiments
I bought this after reading about research at the University of University of Colorado at Boulder that suggests five minutes of high-resistance Inspiratory Muscle Strength Training (IMST) six days a week can reduce systolic blood pressure (google it!). It's too early to say if that's true for me, but I can review this product, which can be used for this purpose, and is much cheaper than alternatives. The mouth guard bite-down bit is a little small, but it works (and I do not have a huge mouth). The ring to adjust the restriction on the inflow of air (the most important part for IMST in this context) is difficult to turn beyond a certain tightness, and in fact I don't believe I'll be able to tighten it further than what I have it set at. I don't really care about the air outflow adjustment because I believe it can remain completely open for this particular exercise, which is only about inhalation. The mouth guard can be removed easily for cleaning, making it easily to sloosh the entire thing under a tap and then leave to dry until it's next needed. My mouth tends to fill with saliva during the five minute exercise, and I have to be careful none of that gets inside the device, or it gets noisy and messy. A marginally different design might help avoid this but it's hardly a big issue. But other than all this, this seems to be useful for what I need, and comes recommended.

Helped my uncle with COPD
I bought this for my uncle (who has COPD) he struggles to talk without having coughing fits and gets out of breath very easily. With this pandemic we were more worried for him and looked into lung exercise and saw the reviews here saying how great it was so took a chance. Weeks on I asked him if it is working, he said "I don't know" but honestly when we would speak to him via telephone he would be choking and coughing throughout the whole conversation, and since using this, not once is he coughing or choking, so I believe it is helping and doing SOMETHING. All I know is we have noticed a change in his breathing and it has improved. So on that note this is highly recommended.

Helps a lot but keep at it..
2nd one of these I've bought and who would have thought a bit of plastic would make so much difference. I guess if your super fit already with good lungs it might not so much. But for me personally 3 years after having a heart attack, not being able to ever recover my fitness to any degree with constant chest pains everytime I did anything, wow just wow! Cardiac rehabilitation recommended I try this for a month to help my lungs supply my heart oxygen. Hmm ok I thought. The instructions themselves suggest you've got to keep up with this and maintain your lungs strength. At first 2.5 minutes breathing through this a day was hard work, over a few weeks it got a lot easier and I was even able to walk around with it sounding like Darth Vadar. I found I was able to walk generally without so many pains for much longer. After a couple of months I lost my first one of these, but stuck to the walking and doing my exercises. Thinking it was probably the exercise side of things that were really helping, I then however noticed over a month or so exercises were getting harder again without this but didn't realise it was not using this at first. I bought another and again have noticed how much easier it is again. As regards the product itself it's plastic reasonable made. I did find the threads a bit tight but it's not like you're adjusting it daily. I just run the tap through it and give it a shake every week. If you've underlying health issues and been told about these buy and try it. I have seen one advertised for sports with bluetooth app but at £300 I'll save myself £290 and buy this.

This is a very helpful device for anyone with asthma, who suffers from wheezing
I wish I knew about this device before. I have allergic asthma and the main trigger seems to be birch pollen and dust. I find I wheeze a lot at night and also I suffer from some post nasal drip- not pleasant). I found this item while looking for something else on amazon, I just love amazon!!! but I found this and read some quite positive comments and thought I would give this a try. I am so happy I did. I have been using this for a few days now; once in the morning and once in the evening I have started with 5 deep breaths each session and over time I will work up to 10 deep breaths and see how things look at that point. but for now, honestly, I can feel this making a difference. My lungs feel stronger and I am noticing less post nasal drip and less wheezing. All for around £10. normally I just take an inhaler and a nasal spray and when the symptoms start I take a dose or two or three, to get things under control. with this device, I am using the inhaler and the spray much less. It is amazing. I am so grateful

Fibromyalgie et respiration...article au top !
👍 super produit !
