Excellent Product - Use Butter for Better Egg Release
Excellent product that works well! Instead of using olive oil, I grease cups with softened butter using small piece of wax paper; and it prevents egg whites sticking to cup--as I was experiencing a mess of stuck egg whites with olive oil, making clean up more difficut. Almost zero sticking using butter and easily releases running spoon around. We're Carnivore, so butter is our preference. Highly recommend product, as I don't like cooking pouched eggs in unfiltered tap water, and was running through filtered water rapidly. Now I can use tap water--no worry. NOTE: If you use butter, put the water in the pan; grease the cups with butter; then drop in the eggs & start to heat the water. That keeps butter all the way coated on the cups. Not too much water, though, as it boils rapidly and flows over. I turn down the heat to very low once the pan starts heating up. I use large eggs and they're cooked evenly and done quickly. Only thing I'd change is having gizmo the cups fit into being thicker/heavier. Not deal killer. One of best things I've ever ordered as we eat a lot of eggs; and cleans up quickly and easiliy--and the stainless steel pan with lid is bonus, as serves other purposes.

Perfect alternative to "real" poaching!
Like many other reviewers, I'm not too crazy about cooking with the non-stick Teflon silicone whatever engineered cooking materials. I prefer wood, glass, steel, stone & cast iron when able. This egg poacher did not disappoint. I tried it out for the first time this morning and despite slightly overcooking the eggs, it worked great and just needs some heating adjustments on my part. I can't stress enough that the poaching cups need some form of greasing; otherwise, you will have a cleaning nightmare on your hands! I used a tiny (very tiny, actually) dab of crisco to grease all 5 cups. I then put small scoops of butter in the cups before the eggs. Guess what...upon removal, the eggs slid right out of their cups with no sticking whatsoever. No staining or residue was left on the cups, either, after cleaning. Based on other reviews, I also did not want to chance having a glass lid explode all over our eggs, so I used a 10" steel lid that fit perfectly over the pan (the glass lid that came with the pan went promptly into the recycle bin. Check out the Nordic Ware 10" steel lid). More times than not, I don't feel like going through the process of traditional poaching (water vortexes, straining the thin, wispy whites from the eggs, cooking 2 eggs at a time, etc). This pan is a fantastic substitute. Get one!

Durable stainless steel
This 5 egg poacher is a decent product that functions very well in cooking eggs. The cups are a bit thin but I guess that facilitates heat transfer. Easy to clean.

What a Gem of a pan !!
During the Holidays I was invited to a friend's house and they made eggs benedict and had one of these pans. They were the best poached eggs I have ever had. My friends mentioned they would like to get a second pan as they cook for a crowd, I was so impressed with theirs, I came home and went on line to search for one, found it and ordered one for myself. I had one with supposedly a non stick coating that constantly stuck and was a miserable mess to clean, so I just quit using it. I received it today and tried it out immediately. Just butter the cups with butter using a pasty brush, crack the eggs and cook them as desired. Took a rubber spatula and scooped the eggs out, utter perfection. No miserable mess, cups wash up like a dream. High quality stainless steel, worth every penny! Truly a high quality wonderful product, I am so glad I ordered it.

Best pan poacher I've seen!!!
Great 5 egg pan poacher. This is just the right size to handle jumbe egg as the 6 egg units I've seen have cups that are too small. The construction is excellent; highly polished SS, very sturdy for use as 10" frying pan as well as pan poacher. Tubular handle is the right size for firm grip. Others have mentioned that the knobs for lifting the cups get too hot, and you may find this a difficulty, however with the use tongs as has been suggested this is not a problem, and with the use of light kitchen gloves it is really easy to remove the entire tray, or individual cups. A nice feature is the flat bottom cup shape as it allows removing cups, or entire tray and resting them on counter tops without the cups tipping over The highly polished cups release the eggs easily with just a light spray of cooking oil, and sometimes a slight nudge around the edge where the white rests. The glass top vents vapor so it remains mostly clear while cooking. Pay attention to how much water you use, and don't allow the pans to float. This is a well constructed, sturdy kitchen tool that should give years of service, it is the best 5 egg pan poacher I've seen. A comment on cooking; I live at almost sea level (500 ft.), and with 5 jumbo eggs 3 1/2 minutes gives a firmly set white, and nice fluid yoke. Poached eggs are great way to start any day!!!

Non-Stick Free and Fabulous!
This skillet makes a great gift for friends and family. I've already purchased several of them for that purpose! It's incredibly easy to get the perfect poached egg, plus it a healthier alternative to other non-stick brands. It may not be as quick to clean as those other models, but you can easily soak the cups after use and wipe clean afterwards, or throw in the dishwasher. I sometimes add a little coconut butter to the cups prior to adding the eggs. The best method I've found is to crack each egg separately in a small bowl and turn the heat down slightly after boiling to avoid touching any hot steam from the vents. Also, since the little steam vents are on the outer edge, it's best to arrange the cups so all the handles point inward. It only takes a couple of minutes for a beautiful poached breakfast, and on other days you can remove the poacher attachment and make 'em scrambled!

Dangerous egg holder plate. It should be recalled!
That plate is a hazard; a knife. Cut my finger and dealing with a bloody finger the whole day. I plan to find out the right way to report this issue with photos of the bloody mess I have had to go through. I have a 4 cup calphalon one that I have had for years and it is definitely not a flat sharp sheet. That plate should not be that sharp and thin. Other than that, pan is decent quality and I did not have a problem with the odd knobbed cups. Just coated them with butter. Forgot to add... while the glass cover did not explode on me, it made popping sounds and I quickly used a different brand's lid based on reviews.

Usually items with lots of good reviews are quality products
I don't recall ever posting a review on Amazon (and I've placed hundreds of orders), but I felt I should after using this product. Usually items with lots of good reviews are quality products, but I think this poacher is an exception. Three big complaints: 1) It is not even close to being non-stick. I used the tiniest bit of oil in the cups (I will have to use way more oil in the future) and half of each egg stuck to the cup after poaching. Although hand-washing is recommended, I don't see the point because the cups can't get any less non-stick. 2) The little black knob/handles on the cups are not heat resistant or anything close to it. They are very hot! This wouldn't be a huge deal by itself, but that leads to #3... 3) There is no easy way to remove the egg from the cup! The handle is too hot and an oven mitt is too bulky to grasp the knob smoothly. As one other review said (a review I read after purchasing- DOH!), many poacher cups have inserts where a fork can be inserted to lift the item out of the pan and "hold" the cup while you scoop out the egg. That's a feature available on $10 poachers. And the problem with #3 is that the eggs continue to cook from the retained heat while you're scrambling to scoop the eggs out. That's no bueno- timing is of the essence with poached eggs. All in all, I expected better design for an item of this price. That is my tale of woe/First World Problem. To be fair, the skillet/poacher is very well-made and its appearance is strikingly good. But I'd rather have an ugly poacher and perfect poached eggs.
