No drivers available
I've bought this camera and i am not satisfied with it at all. I got roped in by the low price, that's how i came aorund to buying this stupid thing. I cannot get it to work in Windows XP, neither in XPHome nor in XPPro. I searched and searched and searched.. i could not find any drivers at all for this thing. Target should recommend this camera for users not using WInXP. GE's site does not help either... they have no page for computer peripherals. I checked sites like windriver.com, i even check microsoft's download page... NOTHING. Don't buy this camera... you'd be better off with a more expensive and popular brand like logitech or creative labs... GE just doesn't cut it. If anyone does find a driver for both versions of WINXP, could you please list it here.. so that others won't have to go through what this stupid camera put me through...

very good cam...for the price
This cam can't be beat for $20. I previously tried the Logitech Procam 4000 for $80 and I honestly believe it wasn't much better than the GE. Its biggest weakness is its poor light sensitivity under artificial light. I needed a bright lamp overhead to make my face presentable on cam at night. Daylight was no problem. On the plus side, software is quick and easy to use, cam is compatible with internet messenging and the base is stable and doesn't dislodge annoyingly as the Logitech's did. If your web cam needs are personal, I see no reason to pay more. Its frame speed was, to my unexpected pleasure, equal to the Logitech's. Professionals needing sophisticated web conferencing hardware might want to splurge for better equipped cam, though.

Depends on how you use it.
I bought two at Target. Wanted to get them working and then distribute to my family members. Picture quality is "just adequate", but I wanted something that could work on medium-to-slow connections. (Not all of my relatives have high-speed internet, some are on dial-up service.) I had great difficulty trying to get these things to work on MSN Messenger, and Yahoo Messenger. It would work for about 20 seconds, then the image would "freeze up". I speculate there could be similar problems with AOL "Messenger" or video chat or whatever they call it. Friend suggested trying Skype. Surprise!! They work pretty good when there is no interference by the Internet Service Provider. Daytime -- no problem. Night -- ended up putting an 18-inch fluorescent light behind the webcam. (I had the light already.) Likewise, my sister put a light behind & above her webcam. I give it four stars with some hesitation. There was a lot of grief trying to use them with Yahoo. But that probably was not the fault of the webcam. The image quality is not great, but I can video chat with my friends & relatives just fine. And the price is good. Lastly, the cam is quite lightweight; you may need to tie it down, or put a weight on it, or glue it in place. It took me a little while to get it positioned properly and loop the cable behind the lamp in order to get it to sit still. P.S. I don't give a hoot about the bundled ArcSoft PhotoImpression software; who needs that?

Great little cam...
Cheap, easy set-up, fair picture quality, well worth the money. This one may not get the attention of the heavily advertised webcams, but it's certainly worth your time to check out. Oh, and you don't have a bunch of scummy spyware programs automatically installed on your computer as happens with several of the other webcams.

Its OK but not the best!
yeah the cam was a cheap price and buying something cheap u cant expect 100% quality. well the so called "mic" thats installed doesnt work at all and the lighting and pixel are terrible. no matter how much light u have in a room it still seems to dark! so if your looking for something cheap with not so great quality this is a great pick!

Great price for a webcam, awful price for a paperweight
Which is essentially what this is. I'm not dumb enough to expect anything elaborate for this kind of money, but I do expect something that works and has at least a little basic information in its user manual. It took half an hour to 45 minutes to figure out how to adjust the picture settings so I don't look like a green slime monster, and half an hour trying to figure out why the test video I made had no sound, before I gave up and bundled the thing back in its box to take back to the store tomorrow. I might have had more patience if their user manual weren't so useless. There's tons of stuff on how to do fancy videos, but not even a rudimentary troubleshooting chart that says something like "no sound" or "colors distorted". My advice would be, don't waste your money.
