Works Great
I wanted something portable without built in batteries that make it useless when they die. This has very fine teeth for cutting. This is good and a problem. It is good because I can drag the teeth across my skin for things like my neck and under arms without ever getting pinched by the cutter. On the other hand, it takes longer to trim my beard which I keep relatively short. I have to make a lot more passes but it does do the job.Over all, I'm very happy with it.

An amazing trimmer for little money.
Why I Need This: I've been shaving with Norelco electric razors for years. And while I like the way they shave, their built-in pop-up trimmer leaves something to be desired. I don't have a beard. But I do have a mustache and sideburns that need to be trimmed. It's not that that Norelco's pop-up trimmer doesn't work. But in order to get the desired results, I have to keep going over the same area multiple times. I thought to myself, if only I could find an inexpensive trimmer that would do the job quickly and easily. Tada! Wahl to the rescue! The Performance: All I can say is wow. For fifteen bucks this little trimmer is amazing. I was all set to buy something a lot more expensive. I'm glad I didn't. First of all, I don't need or want a trimmer for hair in my nose and ears (I prefer scissors and tweezers for that). Secondly, I have no use for a dozen different attachments to trim the hair on my head (my barber would kill me). And thirdly, I'm not the sort of guy who likes to manscape my manly parts, or even think of shaving off my treasure trail (look it up if I lost you). The Cutting Mechanism: Surprisingly for the money, the blade mechanism on this trimmer is not a flimsy piece of stamped metal. The base plate is thick, and it's "precision ground" per Wahl. I believe it. And unlike the crappy trimmer on my Norelco razor, this trimmer contains a lot of closely spaced teeth. The end result is that I can set the length of my sideburns and trim my mustache in about 1/3 the time.Power Requirements: This trimmer does not work or come with a cord. Nor does it have a built-in rechargeable battery. Nor does it come with any batteries at all. It uses two (2) AA batteries that you'll have to supply yourself. You can power it using regular alkaline batteries. But I already have a battery charger and a bunch of rechargeable AA batteries, so that's what I use.Warranty: The warranty on this trimmer is three years. But considering the cheap price, it may not even be worth the cost of postage to return it to Wahl if it quits working.Maintenance: This trimmer is not waterproof. Don't use it in the shower, or use water to clean it. Use the included brush to brush away unwanted hairs in the cutting mechanism. Wahl includes a little bottle of oil. You're supposed to apply a few drops to the cutting mechanism every month.Country of Origin: Unlike some Wahl products that were made in the USA, this trimmer was made in Vietnam.Closing Comments: It's inexpensive, and it works very well for my needs. I didn't mention it earlier, but the shape of this trimmer is easy to hold. I'm very pleased with this product.

Good, precise Trimmer with a couple of negatives
Giving it 4.5 Stars. Have Owned several Wahl Trimmers thru the Years, the 1st or near the 1st Wahl Trimmer I ever had was given to Me from My Parents & it lasted many Years, to My remembrance longer than the others. As with most Companies. quality seems to wain thru time Wahl's doing the same. This is a good trimmer- good blade sharpness, alignment & value for price paid, but the instructions are not as clear as they could be. I had a time trying to load the batteries in it due to the fact that every other trimmer with batteries (I think) You took the back of the trimmer off to load them, on this one You actually load them from the front of the Trimmer (not plain via the instructions), & also the attachments are made of hard (brittle) plastic which will make them prone to breaking (note to Wahl : these should be made from nylon or a better grade of plastic for Your Customers convenience/longetivity which wouldn't cost You near as much as the inconvenience it probably would be on a Customer should one ever break !). All in all it is a good Trimmer just Hope it last's. Best, PawPaw C

Good deal all around
5 stars why? It's price and its function. Works great really and not sure about the so called noise issue. Doesn't seem too loud to me. Normal really. I just shave once a week now and don't bother using the guides. Basically takes me to a 1 day growth look. I do suggest you get re-chargeable batteries to use though. It uses up standard batteries quickly. I had a 20 year old Kodak charger already so just needed new batteries. But a charger and matching batteries are a good investment regardless if you use batteries regularly.

Fine for the price
Roughly what you can expect for the price range. The fact that it's battery powered means it's not as powerful and doesn't trim as well. The cost-cutting measures are definitely noticeable, but if you need something cheap for your beard that gets the job done, it definitely works. If you want something more long-term, spend more money on the peanut. Don't get the blades wet. Ever.

Good beard trimmer
Works perfectly just like my original one that I purchased 10 years ago until the motor opened up. So here's to another 10 years I hope. The only negative is this one comes with a bag instead of a stand like my original. Like others have said it's easy to clean and runs on 2 AA batteries and the motor is very quiet.

Good for sideburns and ears
It does a good job edging my sideburns and trimming ear hairs. I had an earlier Wahl for many years (quit working.) I give this one 4 stars not 5 because it doesn't come with a little stand (I saved my old one.) When I had a beard, I really liked the Hatteker beard trimmer (rechargeable) with the adjustable dial for beard (and eyebrows) length of hair.
