Lime Crime Unicorn Full Coverage Hair Dye, Genie (Deep Violet Purple)

I have been using Lime Crime Unicorn Hair for over 3 years now and it has never disappointed me. The Chocolate Cherry shade is such a beautiful color that looks vibrant and rich right after coloring. The color payoff is excellent and it always leaves my hair looking bold and shiny. I’ve also tried Genie, Sea Witch, and Valentine, and every shade has turned out stunning. One of my favorite things about this dye is the scent. The sugary citrus vanilla fragrance makes the application process so much more enjoyable. It doesn’t smell harsh like other dyes, which matches perfectly with how gentle it is on my hair. After rinsing, my hair always feels soft and conditioned rather than dry or damaged, and I’ve never experienced breakage from using it. The dye is very easy to apply at home, whether with a brush or just gloved hands, and it washes out of my shower without leaving any stains. The color is long-lasting too. I usually go about 2 months before I need to redye, and even then it fades gradually into a softer version of the shade instead of looking patchy. Overall, this is hands-down the best semi-permanent dye I’ve ever used. The colors are vibrant, the scent is amazing, it’s easy to use, and it always leaves my hair in great condition. Absolutely worth the money for the quality and results. If I could rate it higher than 5 stars, I would.

I’ve tried so many vivid hair dyes over the years, and this one stands out in the best ways. First off, the color payoff is incredible. I did mine and my daughters hair, with two jars total (one pink and one purple) and still had quite a bit left over. It was a mess to do, but most of that is really on me. I did the top half (on us both) pink with the purple underneath, so this provided a messy challenge. If I’d had someone else to help me or if I’d just don’t one color it would not have been nearly as messy. It stained every surface in my bathroom, but that did come out with some Clorox bleach based bathroom cleaner. The dye is thick so it didn’t drip too badly. The smell was okay, but definitely not unpleasant. I would not say it smelled “good” but it didn’t stink or burn your eyes. The colors are rich and vibrant. My daughters hair was a bit darker than mine (medium blonde) so her results were diff shades of pink and purple than mine, but still very visible. My hair had been lightened in the salon back in November so my pink on top turned out quite a bit brighter than my daughters. I also had some chemical damage from the salon before and for both of us our hair after this dye felt soft and healthy. I have noticed bits of broken purple hair all over my bathroom after I brush mine, but it isn’t enough that it is visible and again I had damage before. Now my hair feels softer and healthier. My daughter had virgin hair that had never been treated in any way and hers is still very healthy. I’d also like to note that I chose not to cover either layer on ours all the way to the root (it isn’t washed out lol.) I will say that I did my first official wash about 3 days after I dyed it and probably about 1/4 of my purple is gone now. So I don’t think it is gonna last long on me. I have oily hair that has to be washed at least twice a week. But I wasn’t expecting permanent, so that’s fine with me. The colors we used were “Genie” the purple and “Juicy” the pink. My daughter is six and has been begging to dye her hair purple for quite a while, I was so happy to find a temporary dye without the harsh chemicals that would not damage her hair! All in all we are both very happy with our results.

My preferred vivid dye is no longer available so I went on a search for something new. I've been using the same brand of dye for years now, and my hair is used to the formula. Having to change is hard as you never know how it will hold. I'm so pleased that this is staying in my hair.. I have dark brown hair and I bleach it before adding the vivid dye. I saturated my hair and let it sit for a few hours under a shower cap (to keep moisture and heat in). When i removed the cap there was a lot less transfer of dye to the shower cap than I expected. It really dried down on my hair, staining it--exactly what a good dye will do. Does it transfer? Yes, my pillow case has a purple stain where i sleep--but that is the only place I've noticed a transfer. a place where I lay my head for 8+ hours at a time, daily. I've no transfer on my clothes or towels. the color is vibrant and gives good coverage--I put it over my faded out purple. I'm excited to see what this formula fades to. I think it will fade more pink, but we shall see. it's been more than two weeks since I dyed my hair and it still looks solid. The jar is a good size, so I'll get several uses out of it--I'm used to 2 oz tubes, so while more expensive, you're buying 3 to 4 uses.

My rating depends on the color. The genie turns out great and lasts a long time but the mermaid barely shows up and the bubble gum didn’t last much either. I highly recommend the darker colors

Super impressed with this hair dye. I promised my 7 year old since she carried straight A’s all school year she could have purple hair this summer so I looked for a product that was safe for her and that would not damage her hair. This product didn’t only damage her hair but it put back the shine and it’s so much healthier looking. Also I was worried that it wouldn’t work since her hair is a dark brown but we left it in for the max time of two hours before shampooing it out and it is purple. It a darker purple but she is more than ok with it and so am I. I love this product and I would definitely recommend it and I would buy it again. It’s super hard to see in photos we only dyed the bottom half of her hair

Genuinely one of the best hair dyes I have ever used. Lasts so long at full vibrancy (2-3 weeks depending how often I wash it) and does not stain. I have gone to bed with wet hair multiple times right after dying it and it has not stained my sheets. It never stains my skin when I dye it. It smells nice and the purple shade specifically looks good over non-bleached hair (mine is naturally a dark strawberry blonde). I have also used the blue dye and that is another winner. It does stain more than the purple but still not nearly as much as other dyes out there. I would absolutely recommend this brand! It's a much better price than Good Dye Young and honestly, after using both, I prefer it.
