Review: Vegan soul food - I’ve used several recipes nac and cheese, squash recipe, cornbread, etc. The recipes were easy to follow and tasty. I would do the Mac and cheese recipe a little different next time. It could be more flavorful for my taste. Review: That there's plant based meals out there that taste good. - Yes, this product met my expectations. I love the layout of the book and the recipes.

Yum
I don't know how to cook and I recently went vegan, so I decided to pick something up to learn from. I wanted my food to actually taste good (it's sad that as a vegan, that needs to be said) and figured no soul food cookbook would dare give recipes that didn't, but there might be a steep learning curve to achieve good taste. I was wrong. These recipes are easy AND taste good. Don't know how the chef managed it, but the ones I've tried so far also take exactly as long as the listed cook times, which never happens for me. When she says she started forming these recipes while working multiple jobs and going to school and raising kids, I believe it, because she clearly knows how to make a feast in 40 minutes.

Dont listen to the 1 star review
I nearly did but then used the handy dandy “look inside” feature of the book and immediately bought it. Coconut Bread Pudding? Count me in. Curry Sweet Potato and Kale Soup? Yes please. And then there’s the Peaches and Cream French breakfast. That one did me in. I don’t need pictures-I have thousands of cookbooks and often the ones with great pictures have them to make mediocre recipes seem better than they are. Some great cook books do have great photos but they also had great, big budgets to pay for them. I am literally making dinner from this book tonight. Care went into the recipes and I believe one will taste the difference between a great cookbook with few photos and a mediocre cookbook with lots of them. I don’t know the author, no one paid me for this review, and I found the book myself while looking for a new vegan Soul Food cookbook. I have all the others. Am very happy I found this one. I look forward to the author’s next book

Vegan Soul Food Cookbook
The Book is really nice and written very well and the recipes are nice and easy to fix if you can cook a little like myself and I did really know what to expect because I'm not a vegan but trying to learn how to eat for health reasons , but their some processed foods in it but it a 100% better than the way I was eating and it really opened my eye's about real whole foods , so I gave a 5 Star review.

I Need A Visual
The recipes look amazing. I am no longer a full practicing vegan but still enjoy seeing different recipes and styles from others. My ONLY MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT IS NO PICTURES TO ACCOMPANY THE RECIPES. For that new vegan or even a person new in the kitchen. An oyster mushroom may not have been anything they have ever seen or Jackfruit. So that final view of what pulled Jackfruit might be helpful. Just my thoughts, but I look forward to added or maybe attempting some of these recipes the hesitation is what it's supposed to look like at the end lol.

So-so!
The lack of photography in this cookbook means it's one of the ones I reach for least. It's often said that we "eat with our eyes". Not having images of the recipes makes it hard to feel especially inspired by what's in the book. Though - of the few things I've tried from it, I have really enjoyed the flavors. If you really like soul food and don't mind not having pictures of what the recipes look like finished, it's not bad. But it definitely does affect the rating for me.

No pictures, good range of recipes
We have so far tried 6 recipes from this book, I like to support independent vegan writers and think this is a good addition to our collection There are a good range of recipes to choose from but some of them are extremely basic, for example the chilli recipe has no added oumph, the gumbo uses pre made meats as part of the recipes and so do a few others, which I found disappointing as bosh has a great gumbo recipe IMO this book has a range of beginner to intermediate level recipes so is great for everyone There are however no photographs of the recipes which is why I have given 3 stars (only the chapter covers have images) but overall I'm happy with the selection of recipes as there are new meals I don't currently have recipes for Our favourite so far is the jackfruit ribs and the corn bread (both pictured) and I look forward to trying more!
