the picture looks so fine, bluray is the way to go but based on the reviews, lots of people are still buying the dvd. lol. why? buy the blu and enjoy.

It took alot longer than expected but in good condition...The DVD will NOT work and has nothing wrong with it it just will not play

When I got this dvd I didn't play it right away. When I did I couldn't view it in my dvd player. No wonders why someone brought it to the second hand store.

I bought this DVD (distributed by Warner Home Video (UK) Ltd) secondhand because I don't always trust BluRays of old movies to be better than a plain old DVD. It came in a different kind of (VPRC) packaging (see image) from the usual plastic type. The quality of the picture on this DVD is fine and the sound is too, with subtitle options in English, Arabic, Polish, Greek, Czech, Turkish, Hungarian, Icelandic, Croation, and English for the hearing impaired. I've seen this movie a number of times and it never fails to entertain with its beautiful settings, cinematography, and a devil of a script which isn't for youngsters. There is a strong focus on sex in the dialogue which manages to be risque without, somehow, being offensive. Jack Nicholson is such a fine actor that most of the time I forget he is just playing a role. As the character Daryl Van Horne in this devilish fantasy, he did it again. The beautiful and talented actresses Michelle Pfeiffer, Susan Sarandon and Cher (Sukie, Jane, and Alexandra) are manless and all wish for a bit of excitement to liven up their humdrum existences. They jointly wish for a tall dark man, a stranger, to come into their lives and they get Daryl. He's strange all right! He has an outlandish way with words and attire and sets about seducing the ladies. When the ladies of the small town start to talk about Daryl and his lifestyle, Sukie, Jane and Alexandra begin to realise they should be careful what they wish for. One actress who is a real scene stealer in this is Veronica Cartwright whose character is shocked and outraged by events in Eastwick. I don't think Cartwright gets enough recognition for her acting skills and seems always to play a supporting role. Remember her in Alien (1979) when confronted by the alien itself? Well, her character doesn't seem much happier in Witches of Eastwick either. Great fun. I envy those watching it for the very first time.

Die Lieferzeit war sehr lange. Leider war in der Artikelbeschreibung nicht ersichtlich, daß der Film nicht in deutscher Sprache erhältlich ist. Das sollte besser erkennbar sein!!! Ich habe den Film vor Weihnachten zurück nach GB geschickt. Leider habe ich noch keine Bestätigung über die Rücksendung erhalten.
