AeroGarden Assorted Italian Herb Seed Pod Kit, 6-Pod

I purchase the Assorted Italian Herb kit... the Thyme NEVER grows. Is this a common problem? I purchase this kit 3 times now and not once did the it grow. Couldn't even get a sprout.

I used to love my Aerogardens (I have two Harvest units) for years. Then Aerogarden 'went out of business', wasn't selling seed pods anymore :( I tried generic brands (horrible, pods didn't fit or didn't grow) I tried buying "grow anything" pods which you add your own seeds to pods...again, either the pods sizes were off and/or the seeds didn't grow... plus trying to get a bottle of the right fertilizer or figure out what to use (fertilizer brand, proper ratio to use in the Aerogarden ...) was another nightmare. I was so very happy when Aerogarden decided to reestablish itself and start selling again! They were no longer offering a 'select your own' choice of individual seed pods that i preferred, but I was happy enough to get my Aerogarden up and running again with their herbs kit complete with their MiracleGro fertilizer so i ordered this pre-made selection of assorted ones. Delivered, set up immediately, so excited! 3 weeks later, not one of the six seed pods germinated. Not one. As i said, I've been doing my Aerogardens for YEARS, I'm not a newbie, I did everything correctly... these pods were all duds. I contacted Aerogarden as directed on Amazon. They opened a "case" and now I wait, hoping for a refund, and really very disappointed not to have my herbs growing (it's Fall in NY right now, no more outside gardening :(

I got a used aero garden from a friend and needed some pods to plant. I chose herbs because I used them the most and figured that would be the easiest. I planted these at the end of August and have been using hers since late September. It is mid October now. As you can see in the video, some of the herbs did not grow, but I truly believe that is my fault because I did not trim back and use the savory so the light is not getting to them, but that could be an issue and I’m sure it’s different for each batch so don’t let that dissuade you. I am very happy with the herbs. I did get out of this as I wasn’t expecting much. They’re very fragrant and flavorful. Very easy to grow!

So this'll be my 5th time planting the Aerogarden. Fresh herbs are cool to have if you cook a lot. If you don't then perhaps not so much. If I had one complaint, it would be that they seem to put Thyme in these kits a lot. News flash- thyme almost never sprouts, and when it does, it typically doesn't produce any meaningful amount of herb before dying suddenly. Just not a great herb for this particular product. This kit had both thyme and savory. Savory doesn't do so hot, either. The trick to these Aerogardens is to get a kit that's a few sizes larger than your garden- 6 pod garden? buy a 9 pod kit. So if one doesn't sprout, you have a replacement. Yes, they guarantee their stuff will sprout- I wish you luck with that. I was never able to get any traction to that end the time I had a whole kit that didn't sprout. If you're the kinda person who can't let this kinda thing go, maybe do something else.

Pros: Bought this for our tiny NYC apartment as a science experiment for my son, and I love to cook with fresh herbs. Most pods grow, occasionally one does not. When they work they are fun and convenient! Cons: For some reason this pack did not grow! Not with time, not with the vitamin supplement, not with anything. Usually in time they grow but one (I’m looking at you Basil, sometimes Mint, and occasionally Thyme) takes over.

Keep your box for the guarantee, you need the lot number off of each pod that does not sprout. I have just spent the last 40 minutes on the aerogarden website with their Chat. I took a picture of which pods did not sprout but for some reason the picture would not download from my Fire tablet. I tried over and over and it would only load into email and the Chat could not use it unless I downloaded it there. Three of the six pods did not germinate after 26 days. It never occurred to me to keep the box they came in! The Chat said I would be contacted in two days. I'll let you know what happens. Update: I have emailed all the information requested twice now and still haven't heard from them. They can't send me new seed pods but they can give me a partial price refund. It has been almost four weeks since I started requesting the refund. I don't think they are going to refund anything. Update: I finally got so angry I went to the Scotts Miracle Grow website and did the "chat" option. After I told it how upset I was it put me through to a human. My refund of $8.69 arrived today. I assume that is the value of the three pods that did not germinate. What an unnecessary bother. I guess they think if they put you through enough hoops you'll give up.

I love my garden! Such a bountiful harvest each day.

Only two of the pods grew. The rest are duds. I will likely not purchase again as I have made several (aerogarden) purchases in the past (some same sellers some not) and each purchase has been a same or similar experience. Not pleased at all. Last purchase. This product for sure is NOT worth the money. Only the basil and mint grew in this order. As you can see I’ve had it long enough for the basil to grow, therefore there should be at least a bud on the other four.. but there isn’t. In other orders only the basil grew. In a few of the prior purchases only the basil and parsley. It may grow for you…but It’s a wrap for me.

This was gifted to us the Christmas of 2019. The Tyme, parsley and basil grew well. When spring arrived it was transplanted in the greenhouse. Thus was useable for many months. Consequently I reordered the seed pods from Amazon to begin another growing process. I love the process of growing during winter months and having fresh herbs. It’s an extremely easy 1–2-3 process.

I purchased my Aerogarden during the COVID pandemic, and appreciate now having direct herbs growing downstairs for quick access in the fall/winter months when my garden isn't available! I appreciate the pods coming to be via Amazon Prime, and I don't think Aerogarden now delivers directly to Canadian addresses and this saves me time looking around for them. All the pods I received on this order grew successfully!

The basil and parsley grow very well. The thyme didn't germinate. Also need to watch for aphids.

This was supposed to be an assortment of Italian herbs. However, there were two pods (oregano and parsley) that did not grow anything, except one had a white growth of mold on the top. The pod labeled mint has a lovely basil plant growing from it now. I have purchased other Pod Kits and have been totally satisfied but this one was a total disaster... hence the rating.

Five of the 9 pods received did not grow as advertised but when I put a submission through the Aerogarden website, they shipped 5 replacement pods very quickly. Overall pleased with the response!
