Very fast and powerful, FOUR usb 3.1 ports, fine display
I'm not a gamer, but when shopping for a new laptop to replace my 8-year-old Toshiba, decided to focus on gaming machines with the Normie logic that these will generally be among the best for power and display. I was not disappointed with my choice. I went for the 17.3-inch/144Hz model, which comes as standard with no less than FOUR usb 3.1 ports, three of which are Gen 1 (5mbps) and one of which is a usb-C Gen 2 (10mbps). It also has ports for HDMI, ethernet and SD card. And a headphone mini-jack socket. Storage is a 476GB SD plus a 931GB hard drive, to quote the honest capacities (official sizes are 500GB and 1TB respectively). This thing, equipped with a 10th Gen i7 is FAST - it boots from cold in about 5 seconds when new, although expect this to get a bit longer as more programs are installed. One of the first things I did was to strip off the bloat - a handful of "free trial" softs, like Express VPN, Avast security suite, Netflix offers, etc, etc. I installed CCleaner and used that to quickly uninstall everything that wasn't needed. I also changed several Windows 10 settings to decrease its impact on resources (animations, transparency, speaking guide), and installed a Win7-style shell - it's now pretty close to a Win7 set-up in appearance and behaviour. I also disabled going into Sleep mode whenever it's shut, essential as it's used for streaming to my Squeezebox. Wi-fi strength is excellent. My previous laptop had to be connected via ethernet to my router in order to stream high-res audio (DSD and DXD) without buffering. No such issues with this. The display is very easy to look at for long periods, possibly due to the high refresh rate. It handles 2160p video playback without breaking a sweat (obviously rendered in 1080p). I did find the screen's factory setting to be just a little bright right out the box, but a quick tweak to reduce brightness a couple of notches has made it perfect and relaxing. Good that it has brightness to spare rather than not enough. Sharpness and contrast are excellent for a laptop, and the screen maintains good contrast from a wide range of viewing angles. Sound is not bad but is typical of laptops. I just don't understand how anyone can leave a negative review about lack of bass from laptop speakers - these machines are about an inch thick, give or take, so what would you expect? A built-in subwoofer?! The sound is perfectly clear and audible for functional purposes, but if you want better sound for your games get a BT speaker, or use cans. The trackpad is flawless, IMO, with a smooth sensitive response, and a nice gentle click. Good size, too - just over 5" on the diagonal. I personally use a mouse, so will rarely touch this, but it's nice to have as a backup. The keyboard has a nice feel, too, with a nice gentle but solid click to each key. It has a numeric pad as well. The green backlight turns off after 30 seconds inactivity, and comes back on as soon as a key is pressed. Battery life is apparently not great, depending on activity, but mine is constantly plugged in, so this wasn't ever a deciding factor for me. The only downside I can think of is the thin plastic construction of the lid together with a slightly stiff hinge. Not a good combination, so be gentle when opening to reduce strain. I know this machine is overkill for my needs now, but it's probably futureproofed for the next decade or more for my needs. Highly recommended.

A Disguised Omen?
this review is for The HP Pavilion Gamer i7 10750h 16Gb ram 512Gb SSD +1Tb Hard Drive 6Gb Geforce GTX 1660Ti For the price this is a No Brainer, I wasn't sure this would perform well gaming wise, BUT dont let the cheaper Price fool you this is Def a Omen spec Laptop disguised as a cheaper alternative and rebadged. But Just as good. Normal everyday use Browsing, Streaming, Movies etc. Excellent with the new 144hz 1080 screen everything is smooth and vibrant with the right brightness level. The keyboard keys are perfectly sized for a good typing session, and really pick up well at speed. No issues wifi wise strong connection and fast. Gaming is Exceptional on this machine. Tested at 1080 MAXED out Cod Warzone solid 80/90Fps World Of Warcraft Latest Version all sliders at 10 (90fps) Starcraft 2 Extreme settings with antialias on (115FPS) Sea Of Thieves at Mythical Settings a solid 80fps. More than enough for a good solid game session. Laptop is eerily quiet for a Gaming Laptop which is nice. Also when not gaming the intel graphics take over so the laptop is silent doing tasks and watching Netflix etc. On first load of these games they were only reaching 40fps? the reason is because the Geforce Experience whisper mode toggle is turned on = TURN THAT WHISPER MODE OFF for max Gpu performance ( load geforce experience after installing Nvidias Latest Drivers etc ) and go in the settings to see the toggle switch. Build quality is a solid plastic. well made laptop. webcam id the usual 720 adequate camera. USB C port does have a lightning badge on it :) Laptop works well with my quest 2 Vr unit with link cable. The only Gripe i have and its tiny is, the green lights that liht the keyboard turn off if you are not using the keyboard, But a quick swipe on the touchpad and there back on again. The HP Pavilion 17-cd1014na 17.3 Inch Full HD Gaming Laptop review score is....( and you know how harsh i am on these items) Review Score Build Quality 9/10 Screen Quality 1080p 144hz (same screen the dearer omens have) 10/10 Noise Level Everyday Tasks 10/10 Gaming Fan Noise (10/10 Excellent) Loading speed 10/10 Keyboard response and typing noise level 10/10 Webcam 7/10 WiFi 10/10 Specs overall and performance 10/10. A must Buy for any Gamer you will not be disappointed.

Best Gaming and everything else
This is a beautiful laptop for style, and for ease of use. Its make up is the best I have seen, and I can play my games on it with no problem. As a gaming laptop it is excellent, and the picture quality and clarity is second to none. Whisper quiet, smooth and fast, nothing could beat it for me. Its heavier than a normal laptop, but I would have expected that, and battery life is not as long as some, but its brilliant, really, these are just niggly little things. Brilliant HP

Value for money
Big, heavy, battery life not great. Power lead, unless specifically positioned coming in from the rear, covers USB ports, annoying! Return key slightly position different from my other keyboards, just takes a little getting used too. Screen is long and narrow. Very fast start up, 15 seconds ish. For the specifications, Itโs worth the money. Itโs not perfect, but then again itโs not bad. If you want better, pay more!!

Recommended, i would buy it again
I'm very pleased with this laptop. It has exceeded my expectations. I selected this laptop as it met all my feature vs cost requirements; 17" display, SSD AND 2TB spinning disk, and good graphics, all for 1200 GBP. It boots from cold in under 10secs and is lightening fast at everything i have thrown at it. Runs cool, which i appreciate greatly On the downside.. Battery life is only 3-4 hours. The lid/display is rather flexible. The arrow keys are too small and squashed together.

Excellent and very good price
i7 10 gen, GTX card , 16gb RAM and 500 SSD+ 1tb HDD at this price is amazing. Runs quicker than time itself, Photoshop CC, 4 sec from boot, build is great, keyboard lovely and as for the touch pad ( bit plasticky) , and who uses a touch pad? Screen is huge and beautiful. As a photgrapher and graphic designer this is exactly what I wanted, fast, great graphics and 17.3 in screen. It even has two exhaust ports round the back that I may put two red LED's in.

Wow powerful and fast
This thing looks amazing it feels very sturdy and well built, it is a little heavy but that's probably because of the biuld quality Turn it on and with in seconds you are looking at what must be one of the best screens I've ever seen on a lap top. It really is an excellent product well worth the money
