I needed to adapt my downspout to a drainpipe to get the water away from my foundation. It's very important to get water away from your house. I installed a flexible 4 inch pipe underground from my downspout to the street and needed this adapter to connect them. Now whgen it rains, the water doewsn't pour out next to my foundation. This helps to prevent mold and mildew and termites.
