This thing is really a great product. I'm an avid smoker. I use electric smokers because I just love the convenience they provide. However, Ive found that since I've moved from New England to Georgia, the Georgia heat does not provide a great environment for an electric smoker. Since the outside temperatures are so hot in the summer the electric coil gets up to temp and shuts off and stays off too long for the internal smoker box to really get going with coals and create the smoke output I desire. The SmokeMeister eliminates this problem! Once you are set with the proper tools this thing installs in less than 5 minutes. I just used it on my Masterbuilt smoker and I was blown away by the smoke it cranked into the chamber. I got an easy 6 hours of continuous smoke from the bag of Pellets that they provided to me with my order. This item is no joke it really works great. The product itself is very well made and should last many many years. Once its installed and snug its very sturdy. On install of the the Masterbuilt I needed to make a slight connection modification. Masterbuillt has a thicker double wall setup and the threads provided on the Smokemeister just weren't long enough to grab onto the provided washer/nut. I simply used a brass garden hose attachment I got at HD for $2.50 and it worked excellent.

Short story, it’s simple, it works. Very well. Longer version: I love my franken-Masterbuilt smoker (rednecked double stacked awesomeness) however getting any usable smoke from this thing is an exercise in futility. That said I sprung for the Smokemiester! All of the instructions exclaim “MUST be installed ABOVE flame”. As most stack smoker owners are aware, this isn’t possible most of the time. Just the way they’re made. I installed this as low as possible in the fire box (front left lower corner) and regardless of how low I set the temp, the column of heat pulls the smoke in! IT WORKS!! 3-5hrs of SOLID SMOKE!!!! Add more pellets and keep going!!! I love this thing! Tolerable pain points: there are no fancy bells and whistles here and quite frankly, you won’t/don’t need them. Pellet residue will cake up the sleeve and gum up the lid making it difficult to open after use. Some warm water applied when cool will help free everything up and a quick wire brushing will get you prepped for your next run. The ash pan only swings out so you can’t just dump the ash, you have to sweep, blow or vacuum it out. Again, all tolerable for the level of output. Love it!!! 2 years later: still up and running. This thing, when maintained, just won’t quit. Still love it!!!

My husband loves this, so for him, I will buy another. I bought this last year for his birthday, which is in a week, but it has completely rusted and he needs a new one. I can't deny him his smoking time, but I'm a little disappointed that this only lasted a year. Granted, we live in the Midwest and experience some harsh winters, but the grill is always covered. So, buy it because it's a great product and is an excellent alternative to a real smoker if you don't have room for one, but don't be surprised if you're buying another one a year later. We're going to try spraying it with Rustoleum and hope for the best.

If you need a true cold smoker, this is it. The device is small yet it works perfectly, as advertised. You can use wood pellets or chips for smoking. I use pellets and about half of the smoker filled with pellets (about 1.5 cups) can last from 2 hours up to 6-8 hours depending on how you set it up. It is very easy to install, the amount of smoke is very easy to set as desired and most importantly, it produces cold smoke. That is very important in some situations and this product is just great. I have been using it for 3 years now and still love it, still works like new.

I used the smokemiester to generate smoke for a homemade smoker I just built. I wanted the option to set the temp and walk away. that I accomplished by wiring a thermostat controller to regulate temperature. But I still needed something to generate smoke without having to pull the pan and add chips every hour and in doing so let all the heat out in the process that takes a while to build in the first place. This thing WORKS!! Tons of smoke.. The smoker I built is very air tight other than the vents so it barely uses any pellets at all when dampened way down. it's been smoking for 1.5 hours now on the first cup of pellets that I put in it! And that was my first time using it and getting it dialed in. This is a simple awesome product and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. If your looking for a hassle free smoke generator that will smoke for multiple hours without adding fuel this is what you want. I loved the idea, and the mechanics of this tool, but it cannot be used for smoking your food. - If you read professional guide, too much smoke just make your food get into trash bin after cooking, which is what we experienced with this one. - Even for cold smoke, you need some kind of heat, something below 175 degree. This one cannot give you that temperature. This is cool tool for novice only. I asked for return, they just ignore the request. I am going to contact Amazon to make this happen.

Devise is well made and makes smoked meats easy and tasty on a gas grill. I have a conventional “bullet” smoker that I use for the big stuff like brisket but the Smokemiester gives excellent results on smaller quantities of chicken, pork, and beef with comparable results on a gas grill. Setup and clean up is much easier than on a conventional lump charcoal smoker. I like my Smokemiester so well I got one for each of my sons.

I bought this to enhance the smoking capability and flavor of my pellet grill. Based on the description I expected similar effectiveness as the powered smoker add-ons but this was lacking due to the way pellet grills/smokers work. Pellet grills have fans that provide continuous airflow to the burn pot and thus maintain a positive pressure inside the smoker. Because of this the smoke from this unit is blown out of the bottom of the unit and doesn't even enter the smoker and is useless for the purpose intended. It will work moderately well as a cold smoker add-on but does not provide comparable performance and function to the add-ons that have the air pump or other means to force the smoke into the smoker. Otherwise, the unit is solid and well constructed and should last if used in the right application such as addition to a gas or charcoal fueled grill. I found the 1 1/8" whole to be a bit oversized - perhaps it was larger than intended due to the whole saw cut having some wandering when cutting.
