Better Homes and Gardens Ashwood Road 5-Shelf Bookcase, Estate Black by Better Homes & Gardens

I needed a bookshelf for my ever-growing library of books. Previously, my daughters and I shared a simple bookshelf in our living room. I am quite experienced in putting together furniture, so this bookcase was no challenge. As with any Sauder brand product, the instructions are well illustrated, easy to follow, and follow a logical process. Every part was labeled clearly, and no missing pieces. I put it together myself in my bedroom with no trouble. The only issue is in putting the shelves in. Because of the curved vertical paneling overhanging the book area, you sometimes need to put the shelf in and THEN put the pegs in to hold it. No big deal once you figure it out. I love the look of it, and my books are finally spread out enough for me to organize them. I had so much crammed on 3 small shelves before, that this bookcase is almost full already, so I'm sure I'll be adding a second one before the end of the year. The black finish would match espresso furniture quite well, but it also doesn't look out of place next to my black bedroom furniture. I love it all around.

Solid bookshelf, but do not rush putting it together. User error is easy to do with this product, but even with my own multiple mistakes the end product is both sturdy and pretty. The instructions were even humorous, which is an add bonus!

Bought this thinking it was black ,it is not! Its dark brown with black streaks.....

Great bookcase! Nice heavier materials than usual thin MDF stuff. Mine did have minor damage, but considering how heavy the package was, retuning it for one chip wasn’t worth it. Overall it’s a 5. Took 2 hours to assemble. Very clear instructions. It does look close to black, would match espresso furniture I think.

I love this bookshelf so much. It was a great price and I couldn't believe how sturdy it is, how great the material is. It's honestly a lot nicer than I was expecting I'm so in love with it. It was a little wobby but only if I wobbled it on purpose, my cat loves to jump on things and I could definitely see it tipping over one day so we put a wall bracket on the back and it's completely solid. Definitely going to buy more. 5 stars highly recommend

it looks ok after finally getting it put together,[several hours if your kind of old] maybe a youngster might get it together a little quicker.i don't really care for the 2 piece bookcases.this is not real high end looking but you are'nt paying a ton for it.i like the look pretty good.i decided to put it in my bedroom instead of the living room and look for something a little nicer for the living room.

I purchased 2 of these to replace the old ones in my study. Color looks great and they are pretty sturdy. I hired someone to assemble, so I can’t respond to ease of assemble. Nice product.

The wood is great just having a hard time putting it together but it solid.
