Congestion relief in a box! Buy this thing!
Best purchase ever! I work with germy toddlers in a preschool class so I get sick quite a bit. I was severely congested so much so that when I first tried to use it the liquid wouldn’t come out the other nostril. I used the low setting. I would just blast it up there anyway and blow it out. I figured it was better than nothing. I used it in the morning, afternoon, and night the first day I got it and even though the liquid wouldn't go through it still felt better after using it day 1. It’s now the morning of day 2 the fourth time using it and the liquid is now going all the way through and it feels so good to breathe through my nose. I had been sick for about 5 days prior to when I ordered this thing and when I say sick I mean sick I was at a point where I was desperate for congestion relief and willing to try anything. I was so congested I could feel my heartbeat in my nose there was so much pressure in my head. I was using nose sprays that eventually stopped working and over the counter meds for decongestants and a vicks steamer, but this thing is what made me feel better! Also the fact that it comes with so many of those packets is awesome and it comes with the batteries so you don’t have to make three separate purchases its just all there ready for relief and at a really decent price! If you’re looking for relief buy this product you won’t regret it! I think I am going to start using it even when I am not sick too maybe once a week/month or when the toddlers I work with start to get sick. This also would be great for people with allergies!

Wow
I had been using the bottle "irrigator" to clean out my airways. I have terrible, terrible allergies along with an active five year old so I will let you imagine how many times a year I come down with some awful sort of snot-laden illness. I had been using the bottle irrigator for a bit and I wasn't really sure if it was working or not. I mean, stuff was coming out of my nose but I still felt congested and I couldn't smell, etc. Being rather annoyed by this, I decided to give this a try. So typical morning, I wake up and my face is full of snot. I go do the bottle irrigation and resume my morning activities. In an hour, the congestion had built back up and so I did it again. I forgot I had ordered this and found it on my doorstep when I went to take out the garbage. I thought, wow, this is a good opportunity to see if that other bottle is missing anything in terms of snot and crap in my poor nose. So I beamed it up, went into the bathroom and began irrigating. I have to warn you, I am kind of a sissy with this kind of stuff, since I am one of those that thinks she is entitled to complete comfort all of the time. So I start doing this and I am looking at myself in the mirror and something was wrong. Then! It just chugged right out of my nose; it could barely make it out. Some giant "thing." Then! SPRAY of water. Ugh! Absolutely disgusting. I was glad it slipped down the drain right away, so I did not get the chance to examine it, which I would have definitely done. It was huge. I have a small nose. I wonder how long it was in there with no possible way out. The moral of the story is that this machine is more effective than the black tipped bottle for me. I am glad whatever that was is out and I have to admit my head feels different. I am skeptical of these sorts of remedies with so much monotyped writing on the package that one hardly knows where to start. However, I am very pleased that the snot blockade that I suspected was there is now out of my body. I can smell the coffee! Some tips: I really would advise against using a solution made at home. While it seems a rip-off for salt and baking soda, at least you know what is going up your nose, and if something awful were to happen, you could at least pursue some remedy legally. I would only use distilled/bottled water for this. Period. I have seen too many stories about brain eating amoebas and crap from water going up the nose. Perhaps they have some wretched little ameoba cousins in tap water. In any case, I don't want to be the one to discover them. No thank you. I might feel differently if I lived in a place where the tap water wasn't in the headlines but why risk it. I have to say, that right before the chunk came out, I was wanting to quit. It was just before hurting. But I kept going and when the reservoir ran out (quickly with this apparatus when compared with the squeeze bottle) I lamented, "aw man!!" And I did it again. In sum, I would try this if you don't know what to think about the bottle and the neti pot feels like waterboarding (I just cannot handle the neti pot)!! And if you irrigate frequently on high polen days, the nasal gel by the same company is advised by me. It soothes the overwashed tissues nicely.

I've bought 3 of these over the past couple years
I have bought three of the Sinugators over the past 3 years. There is a good and bad reason for this. The GOOD reason being that this is the best portable sinus rinse device on the market. Waterpik used to make an awesome device but they discontinued it a couple years ago due to customer complaints. I now use the NeilMed Sinugator at least once a day and I believe it has been the main reason I haven't had the cold of flu for the past 3 years. It's an amazing feeling being able to breath freely without any obstruction. When I mentioned to my doctor that I use a sinus rinse daily he was quick to comment how it is more effective than antibiotics for most people. The Sinugator is quick and easy to use, and your sinus passageways are flushed out in 30 seconds or less. I think the idea of using a neti pot is ridiculous after using an electric device such as the Sinugator. Ok, now the BAD reason why I've purchased three of these. As other reviewers have noted, this device has the tendency to stop working after a few weeks or months. I believe my second one stopped working after 30 - 45 days. The good news is that you can fix this by removing 3 screws and pulling the guts out of the device. The metal trigger piece which has a copper connector has a tendency of corroding. This would not happen if they used a gold connector (shame on them). I personally use a small piece of fine sandpaper to clean off the corrosion and then I place a drop of oil on the connector. I'm not sure how long the layer of oil lasts, but I'd like to believe that it helps to prolong the need for another cleaning. I've had to disassemble these devices several times each over the past 3 years. In the end it is worth all the trouble. I've attached a photo of what the inside device looks like. Why 5 stars then if this device has a design flaw? Well, I personally believe that it would be hypocritical to give it less than 5 stars after buying several of them. I will probably order it again in the future unless another company comes out with something better.

A tale of four sinugators! This is something to avoid.
We have gone through 4 of these in 4 months, most failed in the same way, a cracked leaking cup. The first one we bought from Amazon.com. We ran the reservoir cup, which in the manual was listed as top rack dishwasher safe, through the dishwasher after a week's use to clean and sanitize it, and it came out completely discolored and cracked. We returned it to Amazon and got another one as a replacement, using the dishwasher incident as a lesson learned that even if the manual said dishwasher safe, it was not. For the second one, the reservoir cup cracked and started leaking after about 35 days, beyond the Amazon return period. No problem I thought, the manufacturer has a 120 day warranty, so I contacted them. After an incredible runaround, they sent me a new cup in the mail. This took about 3 weeks. In the mean time, we bought another one at Walgreens because we needed a working unit, and planned to keep the one awaiting a replacement cup as a spare. After a couple weeks, the Walgreens unit failed, and on inspection, we found water had gotten into the battery compartment and completely rusted the contacts. The battery compartment cover was securely mounted, so the failure wasn't because of user error. We returned it to Walgreens and got a replacement under their 30 day return policy. So, now we have a new unit from Walgreens, and a replacement cup for the unit we got from Amazon (which itself is a replacement for the first defective unit). After another couple of weeks, the unit from Walgreens' cup cracked (no microwave, hot water, or any such stress) and started leaking, so we once again returned the Walgreens unit for a refund. We were now done buying replacements We now have the second one we got from Amazon, with a new cup replacing the leaking cup. In a week, that cup cracked (again, no dishwasher or hot water stress). We just threw it away since we don't want to fool with NelMimed any more. The take away is that while this is a convenient and effective product, the materials used to make it are simply crap. An appliance intended to squirt water should not be made in such a way that electrical contacts rust out. An appliance intended to squirt water from a reservoir cup should have a cup that doesn't crack in regular use. And finally, an appliance whose reservoir cup is stated as being dishwasher safe should be dishwasher safe.

Good performance, but leaks if not kept upright
I purchased this for post-op care after septoplasty and dacryocystorhinostomy, and it has worked well overall. The biggest drawback is that there is no real seal between the irrigation reservoir (the blue container) and the motor unit. Even a slight tilt causes leakage, so you have to hold the Sinugator perfectly upright or start losing solution. Fix that design flaw, and this would easily be 5-stars.

Helps w/ flu symptoms
Pros: Works great! Clears gunk from nasal passages easily and thoroughly Worth the money Simple to use - instructions are to-the-point and clear Ergonomic design - easy to hold and control Includes batteries. Ready to use in seconds after unboxing - just install batteries, install reservoir feed tube so it can pull water/saline mixture from the base, and then fill the reservoir w/ 8oz of water plus saline mixture Cons: none - would consider this product perfect for what it's designed to do Detailed Review: Dealing w/ flu symptoms, this product really helps. I have been taking Mucinex DM to clear out nasty mucus build up but also causing a lot of coughing, little sleep, and sore throat from post nasal drip. This product cleared out A LOT of mucus build up in my nasal passages. I'm very grateful. Plu, I would give an extra star for including the required batteries if I could - barely any electronics come w/ batteries anymore, this one did. When you're sick and have a lot of fatigue, simple things like including batteries really makes a difference. I was able to use this product in seconds after unboxing.

Congestion and Nasal Pressure Be Gone!!!
Holy shnoogies buster! Have been using the Neilmed squeeze bottle off and on for the last few years. Not as regularly as I should. Recently, with the uptick of pollen I used it and was reminded of just how much better I can breathe when I use it. And then as I was ordering a new bottle I discovered the Sinugator. Just used it for the first time and I can't believe how great it is. I'm pretty excited to use it again later. The bottle was simple but the Sinugator could not be more simple. It's easy to see how the convenience factor is going to make nasal irrigation a regular habit. And I'm excited about how much relief from the onset of spring pollen that I'll be providing myself by using it regularly. Just sent one to my daughter at college. Well done, Neilmed.

Best sinus irrigator I have found.
This is a great device if you have sinus issues. I have used this to clean my sinus and while I don't think there are any ways to clean your sinuses that don't feel weird this is a lot less unpleasant than the neti pods I've previously tried. It is battery powered so is a easy to use and doesn't involve the weird contortions of a neti pod. Just follow the steps and only use boiled or sterilised water never water direct from the tap. You may get a slightly odd smell in your nose afterwards but this is normal and afterwards you will actually be able to smell again. Fits together easily. Should last a decent amount of time - I haven't had to change the battery yet.

Perfecto
