Works for me
Not exactly how accurate this thing is but it does read the temperature of my furnace. I am reading around 1780F with a steady climb when looking through the top hole while melting aluminum so it is about 100F above melting point. Have not checked it while melting brass. I am sure it will be within the range I need. Room temperature reads about 10F lower than actual temperature but I did not buy for lower heat readings.

Operation
This item works great. Just save yourself a headache right off the bat and properly dispose of the useless battery. Use your own fully charged 9V and your ready to go. By the way, battery access is difficult and tedious. Don’t lose the tiny screwdriver that is necessary. This should be in the $35 aisle.
