Surprised to find I had to pay an import tax before it was delivered.

Be warned that duty and tax charges are applied after delivery
Gifted this as a present to help my mom get through lockdown. I didn't take the time to realise that the seller is Chinese and that £30 duty and tax charges would be applied after. Quite disgusted considering you accept to pay delivery charges and you receive no warning that additional import fees will be applied after delivery. Turns out very expensive. I should have gone to Argos, a similar product would have cost no more than £40
