How secure are these once closed? Will they definitely "break open" and spill if accidentally dropped?

They are very secure when sealed. We had no water leakage at all. I do think they would break or break open if dropped from some height onto a hard surface as any water globe would. It would depend on the force of the drop.

Do you bake the clay?

Nope, just form it how you want and attach it. We have had our completed snow globes for 10 months now. No leaking, fogging, or displacement of decorations. My daughter loved making them too. I actually have them displayed on my mantle, they are quite nice.

What size are the globes?

The globes measure approximately 2.88x3.63x2.75 inches.

Can sand be added to it?

We do not recommend adding additional materials (such as sand) that is not included in the kit. If sand is added, it will most likely ruin the water quality/visibility.
