George Strait - For the Last Time: Live from the Astrodome

If you are a fan of REAL country music, I highly recommend this fantastic concert performance of my vote for the king of country music: George Strait. Not only is the Ace in the Hole Band one of the best, tightest-sounding group of musicians I've ever heard play live, their sound is well-captured on this DVD. Although this was before the days of High Def video viewing products, this DVD can truly be appreciated for its musical content. Strait reminds us what real country is supposed to sound like with guitar-picking twang, fiddles, and steel guitar. It's a fantastically far cry from the crap that supposedly passes for country music these days like Taylor Swift and George reminds us in the video why he's the king of this genre and what true talent is all about. And guess what, the guy's got a great live voice - it's great to hear when people can actually sing live (not like the aforementioned, talentless Swift).....Amazon delivered in a timely fashion and I was completely satisfied with the product/dlvy.

What a delight to sit back and listen to this good-lookin' cowboy sing! George's voice is still just as smooth as velvet and strong as it can be. I wondered about the background noise I'd heard about on this CD- but while there was some crowd noise it certainly didn't interfere with his performance- and besides, some crowd noise is to be expected with a taped, live, performance. However, when George began to sing my husband and I were both so caught up with the music; his delicious voice, and his excellent band that nothing else mattered. I recommend this CD for all George Strait fans. By the way, George should be THE spokesperson for Stetson because he sure does make that hat look good!

This is a wonderful dvd to add to your collection. I just love to watch George in concert. This concert was the last one preformed in the old Astrodome and was a fitting goodbye. And you get to watch him ride in on a horse...real cowboy! Enjoy!

Fantastic music concert

When the star of a country music concert arrives on a horse, you get a sense you're in for a real country treat. While I'm a huge fan of Garth Brooks, George Strait is just as excellent. Unlike Brooks, who was a major showman during his concerts, Strait just gets up there and, without much fanfare, gives a fantastic performance for the audience. It's Captain America without any frills.Thoroughly enjoyable DVD and highly recommended for country music fans.

I wish they would have used real FILM instead of VIDEO because this would make an excellent transfer to BLU RAY. Quality of the picture looks dated because this performance was recorded on video. Sound quality is acceptable. However this video conveys the powerful emotional performance that George is know for delivering in his live shows. You have to have great respect for this man and his character, a true gentleman and an amazing voice of country music.

Great DVD of george

ポップカントリーの大御所、ジョージ・ストレイツのライブ。とにかく愉しい、カントリーファンなら必見ファンサービスも満点。ラストの曲が終わってからの、彼とファンとの交歓シーンも秀逸、バックのインストルメンタル演奏が盛り上げてくれます。

彼はツアーをあまりしないので本国でもライブを見る事は難しい。その彼の最新ライブが居ながらにして楽しめるのだから絶対お薦めです。以前は86年12月31日のライブがビデオ発売されており（97年に出たのはその再発）それなりに当時のヒット曲満載で楽しめたものですが、このDVDでは数曲を除き新しめの曲を Ace In The Hole Band との息もぴったりに唄ってくれます。同名のCDより曲数も多いですしCDを買うならこちらをお薦めします。なお、私の買ったものは Region Free でした。

Ein Muss für jeden Country Fan

i first purchased the (right or wrong album )in 1983, from pat&gerry allens record shop in liverpool on pat,s recommendations,what they did,nt know about country music was,nt worth knowing,and they were right,he,s stood the test of time never made a bad recording, in my opinion that is, this dvd is simply pure magic, if you have a region one player on your dvd, go on try it you will not regret it,i doubt we will ever see him tour the u.k.so this is a good way to see possibly the best,most consistant country recording star who has not sold out to the current country trend,ie, he,s still rooted in pure country, thank god,can,t recommend it high enough

Never new about George Strait until I found this concert, brousing through C.W.artists.I can honestly say I was not dissappointed. This is a great concert, full of excellent country songs.The atmosphere is terrific and the audience loved every minute of it. As I said it was all new to me but its certainly one of my dvd collection I`ll be playing time and again. If you`re a George Strait fan, this dvd is a must for you. All his well known songs are on here` so treat yourself and enjoy the experience.
