Insightful and Thought-Provoking — Encourages Reflection on Faith and Healing
This book gave me a lot to think about. It follows a psychiatrist and his patient through an unexpected healing journey that challenges the way we understand life, faith, and what comes after. While it explores ideas outside traditional Christian teachings, I still found value in the underlying message about love, compassion, and spiritual growth. What stood out most was how deeply it explores healing, not just of the mind, but of the heart. It reminded me that faith and openness can both lead to peace, even when the path looks different from what we expect.Whether you read it out of curiosity or reflection, it’s a unique story that invites deeper thought about God’s role in our lives and the mysteries of the soul.Pro tip: approach it with an open heart, it’s more about hope and healing than doctrine.

excellent step into the tru nature of life
I loved this book and believe in the truth it is providing. I am comforted to know that we are all on a journey both shared and intensely personal. As a faithful Catholic, I find the lessons imparted to be consistent with my faith and a confirmation that God’s plan in in action.

Good read
Very good book if you are starting on your spiritual path,it will be a good read. it’s intriguing, has a lot of good information, I’ve read in one afternoon and I’m a lazy reader. However there is something about how the story is told that gives me a feeling that a lot of what was written had some sort of ego driven translation of messages by a brain conditioned to religion, later on Dr. Weiss cites the kabalah which in my opinion is the message from spirit to highly religious individuals. There are some fear, hierarchy and some sort or punishment vibe the way the story is told, that I don’t think it translates the absolute love in the spirit world. Both of the Psychiatrist and patient were religious people I believe this is why a lot of messages probably got lost in translation thru their religious filter. Also I think he did not take proper care of Catherine because he was too fascinated with himself and messages that he tried to gather more information about his past lives and his loved ones than focus solely on his patient. Spirit needed him to stop being skeptical and help her using their guidance, that’s why they had to talk about his son but he understood it was about him, when it was just a synchronicity to wake him up. I also believed he had a pre conception of Catherine to be less intelligent therefore less worthy of the spiritual messages. This book is about his first time and contact with the spiritual world we understand and I hope he got better with time.

perspective changing
To read this book, You must suspend any preconceived notions about reincarnation. If you absolutely don’t believe that it’s possible, then this book may not be for you. If you have an open mind & think there is still much in this world that we don’t know & can’t explain, you will enjoy it very much.

Changed my Beliefs
To be honest, I never believed in reincarnation in my life. I have always been very closed-minded about it, and dismissed it every time it was brought up. Whenever people tried to talk to me about it, I just shut down my mind, believing it was ridiculous, and couldn't understand how anyone could believe in it.My wife convinced me to buy the book, but before we started reading it, I was very skeptical and didn't think it was going to be any good. I figured it was just another gimmick or hoax. However, once we started it, my mind began to open.In the first few chapters, I was still a little skeptical, but as we read the book, I started believing in reincarnation more and more. It just started to make sense, and now I really truly believe in reincarnation. And I want to try to figure out how to be a better person and fix my traumas/faults, so I don't have to carry them into my next life. The story is very well written, easy to read, and easy to understand. It is written like a novel, but the story is a true account detailing therapy sessions of Dr. Weiss and past lives lived by one of his patients. The more we read, the more I wanted to keep reading. This is a great book that I recommend everyone read, even if you are closed-minded like I was.Thank you for changing my mind and changing my life Dr. Weiss!

Fact-finding and Inquisitive
I read this book in one sitting last evening. By and large, Dr. Weiss's message through his book was the same that the sages like Yogananda, Swami Ram, and Mahavtaar Babaji have conveyed over time. Before I start with my review, I was amazed to see reviews from such a wide variety of readers. Of course, we all know - each human being is unique with variable mindsets, et. al. However, it did amuse me to see quite a few immature reviews, which lacked any perspective whatsoever on the subject and seemed to be coming from people who don't even know the ABC of the subject in hand.Dr. Weiss opens the book in simple language without using any medical jargons and continues the trend throughout the book, which a reader can be thankful for. One of the things that an average person fails to comprehend that the so-called "messages, wisdom, and realization" need not necessarily come to a priest, minister or any religious head. It is quite unfortunate to see that people who claim to have a scientific mindset observe and operate with such closed and shallow minds in their daily lives.Dr. Weiss quite emphatically suggests in his book that "True Science begins with observation". Every time someone hears about reincarnation, past lives, messages from beyond, and insights - an opinion is automatically formed that it is all "fiction".Although I agree that this book may not be the "best" starting point for someone seeking spiritual wisdom, but as many reviewers have claimed - not a single facet of the book seemed to be a made-up story. There would always be people who would have doubts over something that they haven't themselves experienced or seen. The important thing to remember is how we handle those "doubts". We can either brush them away as merely stories, or we may decide to perceive them with an open mind.Reincarnation, after-death processes and the truth behind souls - these are not religious myths or stories. These facts have been around for everyone to see and have been established and proven by Himalayan Masters like Lahiri Mahasaya, Sri Yukteswar Giri, and more recently, Paramahansa Yogananda.A good example that shows "closed-mindedness" of a reader can be derived from the Review written by a reader who talks about stop reading the book after Page 27 after the Author narrates the incident of 1863 BC. This shows how much that reader really knew about the concept of "Clinical Hypnosis".If you are always going to presume things and come to conclusion without any observation, fact-finding, basic knowledge, and willingness to learn & explore the subject - you will always end up assuming that what you're reading is not real - and you'll end up putting the book away.In the end, I found Dr. Weiss's book quite educational. In this world, there would always be skeptics. There would always be people who refuse to come out of the circles that have been drawn around them from the day they were born.Unless you are willing to take that first step to explore the unknown - you will be unable to see life beyond the daily nuances that surround you. So take the first step and keep an open mind. The realm around you does not need to know YOU. You need to know IT.

Possibly the most important book you will ever read
I don't use superlatives lightly, especially when it comes to books. I've been an antiquarian book dealer for many years and, at 51, have owned and read more books than you could possibly imagine. This is quite possibly the most important book I have ever read, no exaggeration.Although the subject matter is one which is off-putting to the modern intelligent mind - even a hint of the 'paranormal' deemed the purview of lesser, gullible minds - a personal experience when I was younger allowed me to be open to such ideas. The thing that pulled me into reading the book in the first place is the author's astounding résumé (Columbia/Yale Med/35+ published papers in psychiatry/head of a prestigious psychiatry teaching hospital): this is the last man in America who would want to sully his sterling reputation and career with a book on the subject of reincarnation. If you really grasp what went on here with this man, you understand where, in the Epilogue, he acknowledges the risks he took with revealing what happened with 'Catherine', that he decided that telling the world about it was far more important than his career. In this book nothing less than the true meaning of life is revealed. Depending upon your age and life experiences, you may or may not be skeptical of all that you read in the book. So, here's a shortcut to truth: Catherine reveals to Dr. Weiss facts about the deaths of the doctor's infant son and his father, very specific facts Catherine could not possibly know. Therefore, you have two choices: either Dr. Weiss is lying about that event, or he isn't, and, by extension, either the entire book is true or false. I cannot imagine any reasonable person, having read this book, to believe Dr. Weiss has made the whole thing up.When I was about 20, my then girlfriend claimed that her best friend's mother was psychic. I made jokes about the subject for months, kidding both her and her friend about what I considered a ridiculous subject. Then I met the mother. She didn't 'read' people for money (the family was wealthy). The girls forced both me and the mother into doing a reading (in private, away from everyone). Within a few minutes I must have been white as a ghost. The same exact experience Dr. Weiss had with Catherine, I had with Mrs. P___: very specific information no one else could possibly know. Unless you've been there, you cannot possibly understand the sudden impact this experience has on your view of life. Dr. Weiss not only reaffirmed my previous knowledge but widely expanded it.I strongly suggest that you purchase, read, reread, and pass on this book to others. It may change your life.
