One of the most influential books of the twentieth century gets the graphic treatment in this first-ever adaptation of George Orwell’s 1984 . War is Peace * Freedom is Slavery * Ignorance is Strength In 1984, London is a grim city in the totalitarian state of Oceania where Big Brother is always watching you and the Thought Police can practically read your mind. Winston Smith is a man in grave danger for the simple reason that his memory still functions. Drawn into a forbidden love affair, Winston finds the courage to join a secret revolutionary organization called the Brotherhood, dedicated to the destruction of the Party. Together with his beloved Julia, he hazards his life in a deadly match against the powers that be in a world where surveillance is total. With evocative, immersive art from Fido Nesti, this vision of George Orwell’s dystopian masterpiece provides a new perspective for longtime fans but is also an accessible entry point for young readers and adults who have yet to discover the iconic story that remains a powerful commentary on modern political events. How does one man challenge a power that can alter reality itself? A Classic Dystopian World: Experience the grim, meticulously realized London of Oceania, where the Party sees everything and history is rewritten daily. Forbidden Love and Rebellion: Follow Winston and Julia’s dangerous affair, a small act of freedom that puts them in direct opposition to a regime that seeks to crush all individuality. The Horrors of Thought Control: Witness the chilling power of the Thought Police and the psychological warfare that demands not just obedience, but the surrender of one’s own mind. Stunning Visual Storytelling: See Orwell’s iconic vision brought to life through Fido Nesti’s immersive and atmospheric artwork, making the classic text accessible to a new generation. Review: A good update for the modern times. - A great book turned into a much more digestible format. I was a kid when I first read 1984, but even now in my 30s I just honestly don't have the attention span anymore to read deep books. I saw this graphic novel version of the story online and decided to give it a go, and it's been awesome. Decent artwork, nothing you can compare to modern comics but it's still good. I will say this book is still very text heavy; just because it's sold as a graphic novel doesn't mean it's just small speech bubbles here and there. There's still very much a lot to read, the addition of visuals just really help paint the story. Review: Granddaughter Thief(Not Really) - Awesome book of course, and the graphics really add to the storyline. Worth the money. Amazingly, our 14yo granddaughter(visiting us) became enthralled when she saw the book. She already loved the story. So, I ended up giving it to her. Now, I need to buy another for myself!

Sticker left residue
The book was really nice and arrived very fast but there was a big sticker on the book that left sticky residue on the book. I’m very disappointed. I don’t know if it’s Amazon’s fault or what but I’m upset.

An enhancement to this vital read
There is nothing I can add to commentary on the story itself. I'd like to focus on the graphic novel aspect. We understand words by their association to images and things. The graphic novel provides a vital format for solidifying those concepts presenting in the book through images. The illustration used in this book is perfect. It is never overwhelming and it never detracts, or distracts the reader, from the story. Nowhere is there an image too graphic or too explicit to take you out of the story, to distract you from the overall plot and point. Rather, the images are masterfully drawn to reinforce what you read. The reader is not told how to think about the story through the illustrations; rather, they serve as an anchor of sorts to subtly convey what Orwell is saying in this novel. There is nothing of substance I can add, which has not already been said, about this vital piece of literature. So in summation, the illustrator has done an excellent job of providing backdrop and context to the ideas of the story without detracting the reader from it. This is just as it should be done, so the message of the work is not diluted. I think Orwell would have approved.

Thought provoking graphic novel
It was not exactly like the original novel, but it was close. It does not explicitly show any nudity like the movie or book, so teenagers could read this book.

Got my kid to read a classic!
My Gen Z kid, who utterly despises reading, DEVOURED this book in a couple of hours! I’m very been waiting years for him to be old enough to appreciate Fahrenheit 451 but given his resistance to sitting down and reading a novel I had to accept that he’d be reading a glorified comic book. So, while he’s enjoying the pictures and reading short lines in each panel, the story is still there and I suppose the artwork does add emphasis to the literature. At any rate, I’m happy that he has read a classic novel and he feels a little success, too. Win-win.

brilliant
Really well done. The art fits the story/context so well. Dunno how on earth he drew so many compelling images. It's not the same as reading the novel itself but captures a lot of it. The physical book is excellent quality, a real art piece.

Great graphics plus original text excerpts
What I enjoyed most, besides the graphics, is that they use excerpts from the original text (Orwell's 1984) and do not rephrase his work.

1984

Excellent interpretation that sometimes adds extra impact to Orwell's original text
It's already a powerful story and I wasn't sure what a graphic novel approach would bring to it but I'm glad I bought this and although it's not in my favourite graphic style, it's very effective. And the necessarily truncated script has been well chosen and in some cases makes Orwell's thoughts and quotable quotes more accessible than in the original text. Strongly recommended.

Nice one
A very good graphic novel adaptation of George Orwell's 1984. The dystopian world is depicted here very well with use of appropriate drawings and dialogue.
