Harley-Davidson FXR Series 1982-1992: Road Test Book (Motorcycle Performance Portfolio Series)

This popular bike is getting hard to find second-hand and reliable information on it even more so. By putting all road tests from reliable sources in one place it gives the reader a good overall picture of what was one of the Motor Company's greatest road bikes. Only letdown is a big colour picture of a Heritage Softail on the cover! How did that happen?

Lots of different opinions from the bikin' media on the legendary FXR and all its various spin-offs detailing the best bike ever produced by Messrs Harley & Davidson. However a black mark against the authors who somehow managed to put a picture of a Heritage Softail on the cover! Bit like putting a picture of a Mondeo on a Ferrari manual!!!

great book has all the Info i need

To those familiar with Brooklands Books, this title follows the usual format that the company has used for over 40 years by reprinting magazine articles and compiling them into books on one topic or another. "Harley-Davidson FXR Series Performance Portfolio 1982-1992" goes a bit deeper. First off, yes that is a Softail on the front cover, not a FXR, but aside from that error the rest of the book is all FXR series bikes. Color is limited, as with most Brooklands Books, to the front and rear covers with the contents between covers being printed in black and white. While this would normally relegate no higher than a 4 star review tops in my book, it was the selection of articles that really impressed me here. Being a fan of Triumph and Harley-Davidson Motorcycles for a long time, it can sometimes be tough finding a book that offers a great amount of info all in one place. This book does that really well in terms of the articles that the Brooklands Books folks selected for reprinting. It was great to read the road test review articles from Canada and England, but what blew me away was the inclusion of Cycle Magazine's "Evolution Technical Analysis" from their November of '83 issue. This article single handedly describes the Evo engine down to the smallest nut, bolt and washer. The inclusion of this article was a super choice in my opinion. Despite the cover goof up, this book gets the job done by allowing the reader to reintroduce themselves (or for some, to introduce themselves for the first time) to one of the Milwaukee brand's best motorcycles in my opinion. A truly great addition to any Harley enthusiast's book shelf for sure.

We can see much opinion of Harley-Davidson FXR models these days. Some of them are positive. However many years have passed since FXR models appeared in this world. These documents can be helpful to know about FXR models in an objective today because there were no reputation of the motorcycles back in those days. In any case I like Harley-Davidson FXR models especially FXRD and FXRDG.

30€ is abit steep. Info is cool but 15€ would be reasonable. Guess Harley riders never thought about the cash value
