This diecast lock was a great replacement for my gun case—sturdy, smooth, and easy to install. I bought a house with an alarm system. The main control panel was secured by a screw. I added this lock. Works fine.

It met my expectations for quality and function and worked well. Was surprised the lock is made by PrimeLine dot net: the huge manufacturer of closet parts, sliding door parts, drawer slide parts and similar items you'll find at every big box hardware store. If the installer is not handy, it might be more efficient to buy one locally to confirm the cams will work in their situation. Purchased as a replacement lock for a key safe/key cabinet lock box. Overall dimensions were the same, however a couple of details made it a challenge. The offset cam was offset differently than the prior lock, no problem, re-use the old cam. The shaft for the cam was larger on the PrimeLine Defender than the old one, and required some fine file work to enlarge the hole. After a couple of uses the locking nut loosened and the 'guts' of the lock started to come out of the front along with the key. Adding threadlock or even just superglue solved this and may be a solution for others.

I have been moved a few times at work because buildings are redesigned, places are closed, etc. and I always end up having leftover and cast-off furniture and bookcases since I am the "new" person, and they never EVER have matching keys. There are locks, but no keys. Sometimes I can find the maker and the number and order keys, other times, they are mystery items and I cannot find out enough about them to order keys. I suppose I could disassemble them and take them to the lock smith, but that would probably cost me as much as just replacing them. And some are so beat up, I want new ones anyway. These are great for replacing the lock sets. I sometimes have to use a washer or special latch or something that was on the no-key set I am removing, but otherwise these come with most parts that I need. I haven't had any especially weird holes in my desk or furniture to fill, they seem pretty universal. Maybe the depth can change, but most things are quite similar and can work (with maybe a washer or something.) Now I can lock my stuff. I swear I have done this to at least 6 or 7 items in the last 3 years. If I leave a desk or cabinet, I always tape the keys in the drawer. Why don't people do this!!??? If I know who is taking my office, I will just give them the keys, however if it is some jerk who was mean to me...I don't. Ha ha!!!

So overall it's a pretty good lock. I used it for a toolbox. Worked fine for 2 months, then upgraded to a better lock just because I had it laying around. I'm not pro at lock picking, but this one was very easy to pick. I mean really really easy. Just keep that in mind. Pros: Cheap Multiple applications Works as it should Cons: Incredibly easy to pick Cheap, loose but functional

Had a old wardrobe storage locker that had a keyed lock on one of the doors but never had a key.seen these and was the same size and depth as my original one.these worked perfectly and finally can lock it if needed.came with different shaped and size lock arms to fit multiple applications.just make sure you measure for the proper depth you need to match original or replacement and lock arms as per kit.
