I absolutely love my Scotch Desktop Tape Dispenser! It's not only stylish with its Silvertech Two-Tone design, but also incredibly convenient to use. Getting ready for Christmas in my home, means wrapping. Wrapping means tape. And, after getting a few rolls this week, I went looking for my tape dispenser since my handheld one was too small for the rolls I got (the Scotch brand ½ - 1296 inch ones). But, I’d lost the “hub” (black center piece that holds the roll). Having an Amazon gift card balance, I opted to first look for the hubs. Couldn’t find them (and didn’t want to shell out too much money). Instead, I found this tape dispenser (at the time less than $5 with tax). And, it had a BONUS – attached tape hub. My mother (now retired) used to order office supplies at the hospital where she worked. After some of her co-workers kept throwing the hubs away or losing them – she decided to order some tape dispensers with attached hubs – much like this one. And, she was quite pleased with them – as that stopped a lot of “losses”. With Prime shipping, I decided to order it. Glad I did! I’m absolutely thrilled with this. It’s small, fits on a crowded desk and works! Bonuses: * Has enough sand to weight it down, but not so much I can’t hold it in my hand * It fits my roll! Silly me, I did get the ½ inch tape (1296 in) rather than the ¾, but it still works (both tape and dispenser) * Ease of use. This thing is easy to use! And, I’ve had a LOT of different tape dispensers over the decades. * The attached hub! LOVE it. After inserting the roll, my mother decided to look at the dispenser and loved it! She also provided a helpful hint with this – MAKE SURE THE HUB IS SNAPPED INTO PLACE. You should hear the SNAP when you push it down. Otherwise, the roll is going to bounce up and down (maybe even fall off) every time you use it. This is slim and actually snazzy looking, especially for the price I paid. I’ve put it to use in prepping for Christmas and haven’t been disappointed. If I am – I’ve got the 30 day return window. And, no – in most cases, the tape NEVER comes with a dispenser. If it is part of a package deal; then most likely. But, even on this box it clearly indicates that tape is not included. It’s shown with tape so the customer can see how it looks and how to gauge it for their personal use. If anyone bought it as a package deal - tape and dispenser, and didn't get either one - that is more of a customer service issue than product issue. I'd immediately contact the seller for a refund and/or replacement. If that doesn't work - contact Amazon. I’m pretty pleased, and if this remains at a low price – I might get a few more after the holidays.

I'll admit, other than when I need to tape up something, I rarely give thought to the design of a tape dispenser. If I do, it is usually because A) the tape won't tear off properly, or B) the dispenser isn't heavy/balanced enough and falls on my foot when I just want to tape a dang letter shut. Oh, and I forgot, the biggest one: when your drop-in roll dispenser somehow comes out along with the ribbon of tape that you wanted! So, my search began. I will try to keep this simple because, lets be honest, who wants to read the "Moby Dick" of reviews about a tape dispenser? Thus, the highlights: * The price. $2.99 for this thing is a steal! I removed one star though; it certainly weighs enough to ship on its own, so I have no idea why this needs to be an add-on item for Amazon to include it with free shipping. * The base is fairly heavy and has two large, textured rubber pads that cover nearly the entire surface. Thus, between the weight of the dispenser itself, as well as the resistance from the pads, it stays put when you pull a length of tape and tear it off. The added bonus: the padding on the bottom will protect your desk surface and also enable you to use this dispenser on a glass-topped desk/table with no worries. * Okay folks, this is the coolest part and what makes the Silvertech better than the standard drop-in style desktop dispensers. In order to load the Silvertech, you hook your finger under the spool that holds the tape roll and gently tug upward. This pulls out an entire side panel where you can feed the tape onto the spool, press it back against the plastic panel (kind of like fitting a tire onto its mount within the wheel well of a car), and then push the entire assembly back down into the body of the tape dispenser until your hear it click. The roll of tape is now locked securely within the Silvertech with no possibility of it slipping loose! Conclusion While it stunk having to wait until I had $25 worth of items to order, it was definitely worth it. I am currently using 3/4" Scotch Transparency tape and having no issues in regard to the performance of the dispenser. The cutting blade is sharp and the tape dispenses smoothly with no snags. With the weight and rubber guards I have been able to just pull of the tape that I wanted without having to hold the tape dispenser to prevent it from moving (such a wonderful change from what I had), and without the fear of my desktop being scratched. In the end, if you are looking for an attractive tape dispenser that keeps the tape in the dispenser, is heavy enough to remain in place but has padding to protect your desktop surfaces, can accommodate both 1/2" and 3/4" tape widths, and gets the job done, all while only costing $3? I'd call that one heck of a deal.

Just as described and pictured. It is built strong and has the qualities of being slip resistant, tape is held in place, and it is cut precisely. This is a great value for the money. I recommend.

Great tape dispenser. It cuts sharp pieces of tape with no problem. Love how it has a good amount of weight and perfect size for my desk.

Hatte zuerst den Tesaabroller, allerdings ist dieser nur Schrott. Das Messer taugt nichts. Dagegen ist der Scotch Abroller wirklich viel besser, das Messer tut das für was es gemacht wurde: Abschneiden!
