Excellent saw rasp
There's a reason so many woodworkers swear by this saw rasp. It is well made and both sides work very well for their intended purpose. The course side removes material very quickly and the smooth side leaves a surprisingly fine finish that depending on what your project is you don't need to touch it with anything else.

Very aggressive file
I bought this because Paul Sellers recommended it, and it's a nice file. It's very aggressive and removes wood quickly when you use the rougher side. The soother side isn't THAT smooth, but it gives a nice finish. It seems to be working well. It seems long for a rasp, but I like the length. Sometimes it's hard to start, but that because it's aggressive. The main problem with this rasp is in shaping narrow items, which can fit in between the plates. It just doesn't work very well in things smaller than about 1/2" in width. For thicker items, it's great.

Great product!
First off, yes, it has a plastic handle. I don’t know why people who work with wood should be upset by this. Make yourself a handle with wood if the plastic is an issue. With that being said, this is a great product. Both sides chew through wood very well. I’m currently working on a walking stick that is made from old dried out oak. It’s a little bigger around that I want, and my draw knife was struggling to cut through it. That is no issue for the Shinto rasp. It does what it is supposed to and it does it well. It has two sides with one side being finer and less aggressive than the other. Both sides a quite effective though.5 stars every day. Great product!

Game changer.
Excellent rasp.

nice addition to my growing arsenal of woodworking tools
very good at removing and shaping hard wood pieces, like carvings or sculptures, without too much effort, especially the rough side of the rasp. Light wait and comfortable in the hand but a little weak where the handle meets the tang. The only improvement I can think of would be if they made another type of rasp that was curved for working a curved surface like with a bowl.

Picture Dishonest
Great product. It's a goto tool in my shop. The picture is misleading. The handle shown is a turned wood handle, but the handle on the actual product is plastic and rubber. Doesn't affect the usefulness, and I'm not sure that it's even inferior as a result.

Wood working nerd.
That’s me. I’m a weekend wood butcher.I’m always looking for new tools that actually do what the makers advertise. I’m sad to say that some don’t - which I learn AFTER my money is spent.BUT.This little gem is worth whatever they’re charging. My recommendation: Buy three: two for yourself because you’ll “lose” the first one then one to give to the guy who’s done you a solid somewhere along the line. To thank him. It’s that good.

Great rasp
This is my new favorite, as described you have a course and a fine side that work very well. I don’t see it offered but if they had a half round I would purchase that as well. My current project is with a piece of maple it works great on it.
