When words in verse are paired with the awesomeness of nature, something magical happens! Beloved former U.S. Poet Laureate J. Patrick Lewis curates an exuberant poetic celebration of the natural world in this stellar collection of nature poems. From trickling streams to deafening thrunderstorms to soaring mountains, discover majestic photography perfectly paired with contemporary (such as Billy Collins), classics (such as Robert Frost), and never-before-published works. Review: So awesome-makes a great gift - I LOVE this book. It has beautiful and interesting photographs from all over the world. The pictures alone are worth just thumbing through and gazing at. It makes me want to learn how to use my camera! Lol. The various poems by people from all over are an added bonus. The poems have varying degrees of length but none are super long. Many are from poets and well known authors. Thereโs nothing more than a page long. This book is appropriate for any age, little kid to grandparents. It is definitely a nice table book and would make a great gift for someone. Itโs about 175 pages long and definitely worth the price paid. Review: Beautiful compilation of excellent poetry - Wonderful selections of nature poetry displayed with background of nature pictures. The poems, both old and new, familiar and until seen here, the unfamiliar are the kind to read and then take time to let them simmer and beatify your world. One of my favorites, strange as it may seem, "Wildfire"....a must read.

What a wonderful book with beautiful poems and illustrations!
We purchased this as it was listed as the poetry book for our language arts homeschool curriculum, and we love it! The photos are beautiful and there is a u bu unique photo for every page! My kids get to pick which poems they want to memorize from a few different books, and they always go for the National Geographic Book of Nature Poetry every single time! Imo this book was worth every penny! We love it!

Wonderful Poems with Gorgeous Pictures!
Just like all the other National Geographic books I've read, this book is SPECTACULAR! Seriously, the images are the beautiful quality you would expect from Nat Geo, and the poems are really lovely. My 9-year-old received it for Christmas, and she can't get enough of it.

Not so great poetry
Beautiful as it always is with National Geographic but if youโre looking for a good poetry book for you. I was pretty disappointed but weโre gonna keep the book anyway because of the pictures

Another Wonderful NG Collection
What a great book! Okay, I may be a little biased because I have a poem in it, but then, I loved the first volume (about animals) and I didn't have a poem in that one. Whoever thought of pairing photos from the National Geographic archives with poetry for children is a genius. And then to pick J. Patrick Lewis to edit it! (He's the former Children's Poet Laureate of the United States.) The other thing I like about the collection is that it has more than 200 poems. Poetry collections for kids sometimes have only 14 or so poems, but this is a big book and a veritable feast. When I got my copy I sat down in my reading corner with a happy sigh, ready for a nice long stretch of good stuff. Plus it has poems in it by some of my favorite poetry people on cool topics like sailing stones and brinicles (I'm looking at you, Laura Salas!). The only thing left to say is ENJOY!

Beautiful photographs to match poetry
I teach 2nd grade and poetry does not come easy for me. This book is illustrated beautifully with photographs. The poetry comes alive with the pictures. I highly recommend it for teachers.
