What size riser fits in the bottom, 1/2” or 3/4”?

As one of the Sellers of this item, SprinklerHUT, It is important to note that this spray head has a 1/2 inch inlet. Please do not try to measure the opening with a ruler and consider that to be an accurate measure. Pipe thread is measured very differently, and this spray head along with spray heads from Hunter and Toro and just about every other major manufacturer, are all 1/2 inch inlet. The manufacturers websites are always a great source of information and you can confirm this at any of the manufacturers sites that I just mentioned. We have been asking Amazon to include that very important information in their bullet point descriptions of this product and thus far they are choosing to display other information that in our opinion is not as helpful to the Buyer.

What do you do with the blue screw type thing and the black cap (with a small screw on top of the cap)? How do you install it? What do they do?

Once you install the sprinkler head you need to unscrew the plug that comes installed in the head. Then you need to install what looks like a cap but is actually the part of the sprinkler that directs the water.

Can these set to a 90° angle for corners?

Yes, I have four of them on my garden corners set to 90 degrees.
