Much misleading info on web suggests wrench needs 24mm socket for removal - this tool requires larger - what is correct size?

You can use either a 27mm or 1-1/16" socket with our oil filter wrench, both work well. We prefer a 6 point socket over a 12 point socket if available.

Will this fit the 2017 Toyota Prius Prime?

I'm not sure you need it....In 2017 or 2018 all Toyota cars and trucks went back to a metal canister style oil filter. This will fit a normal small oil filter but so will the cheap oil filter wrench sold everywhere... This one was designed for the plastic filter housing like on my 2013 Prius. Go under your car and look at the filter, if its plastic, then yes you need it. If its a metal filter it will work but you really don't need it but there again it will work....
