Makes food a better experience
Amazing fruity flavor and slight numbing/tingling on the tongue. Makes food a better experience.

Fragrant and spicy and numbing!
Exactly what you want. Very floral scent. Definitely gives you the numbing sensation. Fresh, packaged well. Seems to be high quality though I'm not a szechuan expert.

Delicious!
These pepper corns are of excellent quality. As soon as I received, made some hot chili oil and, of course, added some of the peppercorns to it. The flavor is all that you could want from these very fresh spicy, tingling peppercorns. Highly recommend andgive them 5 stars.

Tread lightly grasshopper!
Having only ever read about these and never directly experiencing them I had to learn the hard way: Be very sparing with these. It is not the heat--there really isn't any. They tingle and they have a floral flavor that can go from being in the background to overwhelming in about a teaspoon or so over whatever the proper amount should be. So when you first get these use a small amount, crush them first and taste as you go. Otherwise you will suddenly find yourselve overwhelmed like I did.

These are such a unique spice and great for carrot cake!
We like a really spicy carrot cake and wanted to go beyond the cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, etc used. So we found a recipe that called for these. We couldn't find them in the stores and so ordered them online here. They arrived in time, have such a unique smell and flavor and made our carrot cake turn out beautifully! I loved that they arrived vacuum sealed and were fresh when opened. They come in a resealable bag, but we will transfer these to our mason jars and vacuum seal them so they stay fresh longer.

Great product it is the real deal
It is what it says it is. No disappointment if you know what your buying. THIS IS NOT PEPPER. It is an accent Chinese spice that produces a numbing effect in the tongue with the scent of peppercorns and citrus. Like nothing you have ever cooked with. Again this is not green and red peppercorns for your table top pepper mill grinder it is a very special spice.

Really nice
Once upon a time I bought some Sichuan peppercorns from a well known spice store online. It came in a tiny 0.9oz bag and all they had was green ones. They were okay. These are a whole new level in comparison. 4 oz in each bag, and when first opened the scent was heady. I used some of the red ones last night in a lovely water cooked beef dish and it really made the dish zing. Now I can get back to doing some serious Sichuan cooking

Weak Flavor
I was very excited to receive this product based on the reviews as I had been craving mapo tofu for weeks now. When I opened the bag I wasn't met by an explosion of pungency as I was expecting, but I thought it was because the peppercorns needed roasting. I roasted 3 grounded tablespoons of this pepper with hot oil along with garlic and fresh grated ginger for about 30 seconds as I'd seen my mother do a million times. Then I added minced meat and finally silken tofu. This is for about 1 quart of mapo tofu. I would have thought 3 Tablespoons would be enough. I didn't smell enough of the pepper fragrance as I was making the dish and was starting to adjust my expectations downward for the final product. When I had my first bite of the mapo tofu there was a weak attempt by the pepper to make an appearance...and then it went away as anticlimatically as it came. I strongly believe that if I were in China better peppercorns could be had for a fraction of the price, but I'm not in China so I have to settle for this.
