I was a bit cautious of this because the reviews went back and forth, however I am so glad I purchased this easel. It was a gift for my girlfriend who paints frequently and it has turned out to be absolutely perfect. The wood smells great, and there are many different ways to set up the easel depending on how you'd like to paint at the time, from on top of a table or sitting in the grass to standing up. The tray slides in and out easy and is big enough to hold all of her paints and brushes with ease. It's a bit too heavy I think once you have all the paints inside to take it and go for a long hike but that's my own personal opinion.It took a few minutes to learn to set up. I watched a video on YouTube first just to make sure I was doing it right. After the initial worry though it's easy to put up and take down, or to move. I've done it probably 6 or 7 times myself and she has done it even more over the last 6 months and so far I have not had any issue with any of the screws or caps to hold it in place. It's fairly obvious when you're putting it together if you're clamping down too hard or not hard enough.

This was a gift for my daughter's 10th birthday. She wanted a real french easel (not a kiddie version) to do painting and drawing. She saw this style in an art supply catalog and fell in love with it. It arrived well packaged, the parts were undamaged, and it was simple to set up and show her how to adjust the legs. She loves it and we are hoping it lasts a while. The easel seems very sturdy and easy to fold up into it's box, it's lightweight enough for travel, too. The dividers for the drawer were a little flimsy, but I think they do that to save weight. The fact that is has a decent size drawer for art supplies is a great plus for us as well.This easel will most likely not see any travel until she is older, but looks cute in her room with her canvas on it. She loves it and we are hoping it lasts her many more years. Since it it adjustable in height, we feel it was a good investment since she loves art and painting and we think she will get a lot of use out of it as she grows.

I'll start by saying this is an amazing easel, I researched quite a bit and even saw a few in person before deciding on the purchase and based on all the good features, reviews and looks, I got it and love it, it looks great, functions very well for what is designed for and it's customizeable.CONS: right out of the box (see pic) the box itself was very damaged on deliver, not sure what happened but of course it would affect the product, and it did. Some parts where screws holds things in place were loose, and the screws missing or not holding anything due to stretched holes. I did some wood work before, so I knew it was nothing major and I could fix easily with thicker screws and some glue. But I have to warn that a person that doesn't know how to fix this, or is receiving a gift, may have trouble with this.I'm not sure if was a shipping and handling issue, or the product quality is not on par, but it is disappointing to received a package so damaged.GOOD STUFF: After the quick day 1 fix, it's been working wonderfully, already used on 3 different locations and it seems well built and sturdy, probably will last a long time. So I highly recommend this one, if you're lucky with shipping or if you know how to fix things.

I love this easel. It is light enough so I can move it around, which is very convenient. I love that is had a drawer where I can keep my paints and brushes. The drawer is also helpful while you are actually painting because it gives you a within reach place to keep your materials. Despite the other reviews, I found it a little challenging to put it together, especially since there were no instructions, but I eventually got a hand of it. I am 5'5 so the height is perfect for me. I am not sure it would work for someone who is much taller though. The handle at the top is adjustable, so it to hold different sizes of canvas, which I love! It is super, super sturdy, but I can tell with care it can definitely last. Overall, I would definitely recommend this as a buy...if you are a short to average size person.

I can highly recommend this one.. Extremely well made. This is full size 17.4 pounds empty, the sling it comes with makes it easy to carry much like a golf bag. My total time 4 minutes to open fully, simple really. Just make sure you tighten all the way before standing it upright. I'm looking forward to years of enjoyment with this both in my studio and on location. The other one that would be much lighter and significantly more expensive, is made out of bamboo. Otherwise this is wonderful.

The nuts and bolts came off after just a couple of uses. I lost one of the bolts at an outdoor location, and could not recover it. My husband spent some time looking for a nut at an hardware store and so it's repaired. He also added stop caps on all of the bolts that had nuts that could potentially come off. This did the trick, but it took a lot of time and effort!

Once I figured out how to get the back leg stretched out and the box leveled up, it was good to go. It appears to be a nice travel easel, pretty sturdy. The quality of the wood is very nice, drawer slides in and out easily and all parts in working order- nothing to put together. I will enjoy the versatility of the canvas sizes this easel will hold. Overall I am very happy with my purchase.

I don't know where to start with these people. This is a con. The picture shows a French easel but the dimensions is of a half French easel, which is what I got. The idea that the list price for this cheap crap is $299.95 is a joke. The wood is cheap, it's barely sanded, rough to the touch, the leg extensions are Jerky, abrasive and the varnish on the wood is pathetic. The assembly was incomplete the back leg was just hanging off it, I had to find a bolt to attach it properly. I feel I just flush $70 bucks down the drain. Do not buy this easel, don't get taken in by the other reviewers like I was. Check out the bamboo French style easel from Blicks it's about $100. it has wheel casters and a luggage style pull out handle. A much better value for money.
