This lock can be programmed with as many as 5 numbers in any order. 1,5,4.3,2 or 1,3,5 or any other combination using any or all of the 5 numbers

No it does not. You turn it to lock like a deadbolt inside and outside the door.

Do you need to buy any other hardware for the lock to work? I know you need to buy a drill guide, but other simplex items on amazon seem to have more.

You just need a drill, and basic tools. Follow the template and instructions and you should be just fine.
