Mixed bag, but ultex flows rule
UPDATE: Got the John Petrucci 6 pack. Best to worst: 1. Trinity 2. Primetone Jazz 3 3. Flow 2.0 oxblood 4. JP Jazz 3 custom Why? Well no surprise here all 4 varieties are made of ultex and therefore all sound great with varying levels of bass output which is directly proportional to the mass of each pick. The trinity is the best evolution of the ultex jazz 3. Same height as the jazz 3, but with the flow contours to combine fast release off the strings and extreme control for technical playing. The only thing it lacks compared to the standard ultex flow picks (and the max-grip series) is the level of grip. The matt surface and raised logos add some grip, but the reason this stays put is actually the triangular shape of the pick gets wedged in the way I hold the pick, so it does not budge. The other picks in this pack are known quantities, but for me the JP Flow and JP custom jazz 3 both lack grip to the point where they are bar of soap slippery rendering useless for playing more 'intense' styles of music. The primetone jazz 3 is nice and matt so it grips much the same as the trinity pick. Shred Variety pack review: This pack is a good way of trying out the usual suspects of the picks used to play more demanding styles of music like metal or jazz. Having been a jazz 3 player (everything from the OG, to the Stiffo, ultex, tortex, XL series, max grip) for over 10 years, I was awaiting to see whether the hype surrounding the flow picks was justified. For my tastes, yes the hype is justified. The flow 1.5 and 2.0 are the best two picks in this pack. Order would go: Ultex flow The jazz 3s Jazz 3 XL Ultex sharp Tortex flow Tortex sharp Delrin 500 primegrip Reason behind this ranking is that the ultex flow picks, combine the best attributes of the Dunlop picks for technical styles. Best material for bright tone and note projection. Sharp tip and bevelled edge for playing fast with ease. Really good grip, albeit not quite as grippy as the max grip jazz 3. Oh and very durable material. Having used the ultex jazz 3 previously I can attest to this. For me, this set proves that ultex picks give the best tone, especially for down tuned guitars or extended range guitars. My advice - choose whichever Dunlop ultex pick suits your fingers and grip / technique.

Helped me decide which pick suits my style
I was looking into picks for faster and precise playing and was unsure what to try. I heard great things about the Jazz 3 picks, but i was worried they might be too small as I had been using regular size plectrums for years. The Shred pack offers the Flow and Jazz XL picks which are a nice middle ground between full size and small jazz picks, and there is a nice variety of materials to try. I found the regular Jazz 3 Max Grip picks to suit my playing the best so It was worth getting the variety pack to find out which picks I will be buying from now on.

For all, you shredders out there these picks are amazing for fast playing. I have used many picks over the years but these are the best! Years ago, when I was learning to shred the pick I used was a bad shape and size it was like I was waving down an aircraft pilot with the amount of motion my hand was doing. Then I learned the secret... Due to these picks being small it forces you to move your hand slightly furthermore, the shape glides across the strings thus. Speed is acquired by economic picking as it takes half the time and half the motion.
