Great hair dye for corporate slaves and/or lazy people
My hair is definitely black when I use this dye in Onyxโthough admittedly I start with naturally dark brown hair. Do I have the โlong lost member of the Addams familyโ look that I really want? No, definitely not. But you know what else I donโt have? The murky green/purple hair that comes from letting dyes like Arctic Fox and Manic Panic fade. To me, the main advantage of Keracolor dyesโat least the natural colorsโ is that they have very neutral, natural looking undertones that make for very elegant fading (Iโve also used them in brown and copper). I work a job with a very strict, old-fashioned dress code. My boss isnโt going to care that my hair dye fades weird; all heโs going to see is that I showed up to work with green hair and give me a prompt counseling on maintaining a professional appearance. Could I avoid that problem by being very meticulous about the upkeep of my hair? Yes. Will I do that? Literally never. Unless youโre starting at platinum blonde, these dyes are never going to dramatically transform your hair color; if Manic Panic is lipstick, Keracolor is a tinted lip balm. But youโre also never going to catch your hair in the light one day and realize your hair looks like a swamp or that your beautiful copper locks went from Christina Hendricks to Beaker the Muppet seemingly overnight. A very reasonable trade-off, for my needs. Also as a bonus, theyโre super hydrating. My hair looks and feels awesome after I use it.

Great product but does take a few washes to see results
As someone whoโs scalp tends to get very irritated with permanent dyes, and also as a cautious person really not ready to return to a formal salon in the age of COVID, this product is worth every penny! My natural color is a light-medium brown, and I had no prior color in when I started using this product. Itโs super easy to use, and took about 4-5 applications to get the shade I wanted. Unless you already have black dye in your hair, you wonโt get full results with just one wash. I also love how it makes my hair look and feel- much stronger and healthier than it ever did with my past products. It helps my hair so much that I actually ordered the no-color Clenditioner to use in between color refreshes and am making it my new hair product of choice!

Worked for me- but read the description before purchasing!
First and foremost, this is a GENTLE color without developer, not meant to be like a permanent dye. It will NOT cover grays. They specifically donโt recommend it for grays, so Iโm not sure why everyone is complaining about that. Go buy a cheap box if youโre looking for gray coverage. I have a lot of grays these days, but I also have hair that is varying degrees of browns and auburns. I want to grow my grays in, but I donโt want to have multicolored hair while waiting. This covered all the browns to a nice muted black, and the grays remained like little shimmery pops of color. I will add a photo when I do it again. *** I happen to be allergic to a crazy amount of stuff, and this didnโt affect me at all! I will continue to buy it until I trim off the rest of the old dyes and start fresh. I use mine on dry hair, then rinse after 15 minutes.

Caused Allergic Swelling + Zero Gray Coverage = Worst of Both Worlds
I rarely leave reviews, but after my experience with Keracolor Color + Clenditioner, I felt compelled to share a detailed warning. I have a history of reactions to most hair dyes and color products. Many succeed at coloring my hair but trigger allergic responses. Gentler options like pure hennas often cause no reaction but fail to deliver meaningful color or gray coverage. I hoped Keracolor โ marketed as a gentle, conditioning color-depositing treatment โ would be a safe middle ground. Unfortunately, it was the opposite. What happened: I applied the product to wet hair, lathered it in, left it on for the full 20 minutes as directed, rinsed thoroughly, and followed with baby shampoo. Within a short time, I experienced noticeable swelling in my cheeks, scalp, and lips. The reaction was uncomfortable enough that I immediately took an antihistamine. The swelling eventually subsided, but it was alarming and completely unexpected from a "clenditioner" type product. On top of the reaction, it provided zero improvement in gray coverage. My hair looked exactly the same afterward โ the same amount of gray remained, with no visible toning or deposit. To make matters worse, my hair felt noticeably drier and more brittle than before, despite the product's heavy conditioning claims and added oils (like coconut, shea, and keratin). This was truly the worst combination: an allergic reaction + no results + added dryness. I threw the bottle straight in the trash. For context, Iโve found only one product that consistently works well for me: Naturtint Permanent Hair Color. It delivers excellent, lasting gray coverage while causing no allergic reaction in my experience. Itโs the sole exception Iโve found after trying many options over the years. If you have sensitive skin, a history of reactions to hair products, or significant gray hair you actually want to cover, I strongly recommend skipping Keracolor. Always do a patch test with any new product, even those labeled as gentle. There are better alternatives out there for people like me.

Desposits color, not a straight-up dye. Needs repetitive use for intensity, and 1st try was a bust.
For years I've had the tips of my auburn hair dyed black from a friend who is a hair stylist. No bleach was ever used, just hair dye straight to the hair strands and then we waited about 30 minutes if I remember correctly, if not, and it always came out a deep dark jet black. Even when I went to a salon a few times, it came out a beautiful, deep dark jet black with very little effort needed, no bleach, just once again directly to the hair strands. I just wanted something fun again, and so I decided to do it myself. I realized later this was a color-depositing conditioner, not and one-stop and done color system. it takes MANY times to get the intensity you want. I did it dry like the many times it was done before, waited 20 minutes, and it completely washed out. There is absolutely no color at all, not even a shadow or shade. I tried a second time, this time I washed and semi-dried my hair, and put it back in when it was slightly damp. I waited 30 minutes this time until I washed it out, and this time I see a hint of maybe dark brown, so it didn't actually color my hair black, I just made my auburn hair really dull. I'm really not happy with this, and it didn't even give me close the results I was looking for. I wasn't expecting black like a light sucking black hole, but at least expecting something closer to invisible black. So even after dying twice and leaving in close to half an hour, I just basically got the color of a coffee. This was a waste of nearly 2 hours and a $22 I might just try the Copper to enhance my auburn hair given that it deposits color and doesn't actually dye. For the black, going with a different company....

Will buy again and again!!!
Went from honey blonde to black in one wash! Left on an hour the 1st time and left my hair feeling and looking amazing! After a week or so it did have a slight green tint but my hair was previously very blonde and very damaged. I would still highly suggest this product!

Lovely color & scent
The onyx worked great on my grown out bleached hair (brown) & matches with my natural black crown. Smells super good & left my hair soft. I agree with other reviewers that itโs kinda pricy but honestly I have long hair & think itโll last me a couple months so it evens out!

Pretty useless for coloring grays.
I have black, curly, African-American hair, and I bought this product to try to color some gray hairs that were starting to emerge, mostly along my front hairline. Like many black women, my hair tends to be dry, so I only wash it every 7-10 days. Most traditional DIY hair color kits donโt include shampoo for cleansing your hair before applying the dye paste/cream. (Only a conditioner to use after rinsing out the dye.) In fact, most at-home kits actually require you to apply the hair dye-cream to dry hair, so you canโt shampoo right before applying the liquid dye. The instructions for this color-depositing conditioner said that it could be applied to wet hair. Therefore, I bought it so I could thoroughly shampoo & clean my hair just before applying the conditioner containing the black hair dye, all in a single session. Unfortunately, this product turned out to be pretty ineffective at coloring my gray hairs, even though I left it on for 20 minutes (the max recommended time per the instructions) before rinsing it out. And in the 4-5 days since I used this conditioner, the black dye has continued to fade from my hair, so now it pretty much looks just like it did before I tried this conditioner. I canโt speak to how well this product might work for changing pigmented hair from one color to another (e.g., dyeing your blonde hair red), but for coloring gray hair, it was practically useless for me. Great colour and leaves hair soft
This conditioner is very good quality and gives excellent colour results. It refreshes the hair colour nicely and helps maintain a vibrant look. It is easy to use and works well after regular washing. In addition, it leaves my hair feeling soft, smooth, and healthy. The smell is pleasant and not too strong. Overall, I am very satisfied with this product and would highly recommend it.

Do your research before buy product like this one.
I didn't understand purposes of this item ?! Does it ment to color hair? Or give some color shaed ?! Im not even talking about coloring or colored gray hair. On wet hair or dry hair, 30 min or 1 hours ?! Nothing above had worked If this would cost 20 or 30 dhs max - I would say worth the cost... but this is high price range and overcharged for the purpose it doesnt do what its day shall do. The last thing we want to do is waist money for the product has no purpose. Please advise me what shall I do with this purchased product please ?

Black conditioner worked well
Got the black to cover over some old purple before I could get to the salon. Didn't give total coverage, hints of purple showed in the sun, but overall it did well. And it's quite pigmented. Added it to damp clean hair and left it on for approx 40 mins before rinsing. Now having all black hair again, I'll use this between salon visits to tone down my regrowth when I'm closer to needing my roots done. It left my hair very soft and silky, very appreciated as my hair had been quite damaged by bleaching previously. I prefer to use it like a direct dye treatment rather than conditioner in the shower for better pigment adhesion

Will not cover grey but will refresh already coloured black hair
Excellent product to refresh your coloured black hair! Please note it will not cover any grey! It will *only cling onto previously coloured hair* to make it more vibrant and fresh. I prefer this over using box colour on top of box colour.
