I keep this with me because it really lasts throughout the day. I need to have something on my lips to keep them moist, and this one is dependable without feeling heavy or sticky. A little goes a long way, so you don’t have to use very much at all. It provides quick relief when my lips are very dry and helps lock in moisture for hours. I like that it’s fragrance-free and gentle, and I always keep it in my bag so it’s easy to reapply if needed. Simple, effective, and reliable.

Aquaphor Lip Repair Ointment is a good lip product for mildly chapped lips. There are some ingredients that could be irritating to severely chapped lips where petroleum jelly might work better. But overall it is non irritating it is. There’s no sting when you apply it, no burn, and no strong fragrance that makes things worse. The texture is thick and protective. It goes on like a smooth ointment and forms a noticeable barrier that helps lock in moisture.

The skin on my lips is a bit delicate and dries out very easily. Add to that I live in an arid climate which only exacerbates the problem. When I feel any tough or dead skin on my lips I have the nervous habit of using my teeth to nip at it, which only makes it thicker and more callous. I then use paraben-based lip products to try to heal and soften the skin- but it only covers the thick skin. Then when the paraben wears off the skin is a bit softer and more willing to come off, and again I nip at the edges trying to remove the dead skin. This becomes a vicious cycle and has been something of a problem. People would catch me nipping at my lips and wonder what the heck I was doing! So I. Tried HARD to resist the urge to nip in front of people or to hide it. Then that inevitable moment when you go too far and break the skin or a crack starts. UGH!! I even tried various exfoliants to remove this skin, but the nervous habit remained. I went so far as to use my coffee grinds with honey to exfoliate, then immediately moisturize and try to seal the skin. I even resorted to experimenting with different hand lotions AND THEN lip balm after exfoliating. This has helped, but it's also rough on my lips and is a lot of work to do. I have to do this 2-3 times a day to just maintain having not-quite cracked lips! I needed this to stop! So I tried to just outright break the habit of nipping at it and just keep them treated and late them just HEAL. I was doing pretty well for like five days, but any time I would get nervous or feel dead skin... it's like a nervous tick. I do it without thinking and catch myself. But the damage was done. Then again with exfoliating and moisturizing. The vicious cycle continued. So I set out to really do some research, and this product consistently came up as a solution. Well, I've only been using it for two days now, and my lips are 75% better. Any time I feel the need to nip I just apply this. I've only exfoliated twice in two days now. Every time I go to nip I find there's virtually nothing to nip at! My lips are not fully healed yet, but I think that they will be within a few more days. They're finally soft again. The tough skin is nearly all gone! This stuff seems to both penetrate and protect the surface. It's quickly getting to a point that I no longer have to think about my lips. If I feel the urge to nip I just apply this and pretty much forget about it and move on with my day. Hopefully this helps someone else. It's weird to be sort of excited something so trivial, but sometimes it's the small victories! I just hope they never change and ruin the working formula like so many companies do!

I’m rather tempted to add a photo to this review but honestly no one wants to see that… so I’ll just tell y’all. Last summer I received two high-quality, super pricy overnight lip treatments from Ipsy. One was a “lip butter” and the other was a “lip mask”. Fancy stuff. I applied the lip mask before bed for a few nights, looking forward to soft, luscious lips in the mornings. Instead, over the next few days, my lips completely dried out. So of course I thought I needed the lip butter to come to the rescue. But alas! The lip butter jacked up my lips to a dramatic level. Seriously, I think it gave me chemical burns. And in case anyone’s wondering, no, neither of these products were supposed to make my lips bigger. They weren’t fillers-in-a-tube. My top lip was puffy, red, and had spots that were so dry it felt like the skin was going to fall off in large chunks. Sorry, I know that’s gross, I just need y'all to understand. At this point, my boyfriend was so tired of seeing my tragic face that he bought me a tube of this Aquaphor and he reminded me to apply it every hour for literally like three weeks. But truly, after the first two hours I felt so much better already! My lips completely healed over time. It took a few weeks to get back to normal but they felt better with every passing day. Obviously I tossed out the fancy, dream-crushing products, and now I have about eight tubes of this Aquaphor laying around the house. I apply it every night and never, ever wake up to dry lips. It’s unscented (as far as I can tell) and it feels super rich and smooth on my lips. It feels luxurious! The packing is simple and no nonsense, so it’s not as exciting as a mask or a butter. But it also won’t ruin your life. Maybe my lips are becoming sensitive over time, idk. But every time I think I can use a new lipstick or balm and my lips inevitably revolt, I reach for this product and it works its wonders all over again. This stuff is so cheap, and works so well... I might cry if I keep thinking about it so I’ll end this here. This is a great product :)

This is quite literally the only lip balm that works for dry lips. All those others are just tints. The corners of my lips actually used to bleed because of heat and sometimes dehydration and it was so recurring. sometimes I couldnt even open my mouth to eat food properly. I randomly bought this after researching, and hands down the best thing I've ever bought. I got relief in two hours and the lips became soft in a day. Love this product life saver
