Finally, a Bluetooth remote that works! Not perfectly, but pretty darn good.Detailed review follows -- skip to the end for a key point summary....My first effort at having a device like this was a Kickstarter project that wound up ending my support of Kickstarter projects. Called the Qmote, it was supposed to be a remote for my Android phone (then the HTC M8) but it was a total disaster. Took over a year to arrive, and, when it did, it wouldn't control anything....or at least not anything useful. It turned off my keyboard, wouldn't function with any apps, and the only thing it would do on my camera was cycle through turning the flash on or off. Couldn't even use it to snap a photo.So, I was a bit skeptical at first here, but, upon arrival, this was an impressive looking little device, seeming to be well made, simple but suited to its purpose. It came with a carrying pouch and not only was one battery included, but TWO were included! That's a first, in my experience, and was much appreciated. It also came with a lanyard, which came in super handy. It's small additions like that which really add to the overall value and convenience.My main goal was to be able to work my phone, remotely, for photos and videos. Using the new stunning HTC 10 (best phone on earth, period -- in my humble opinion only) mounted in my windshield area, on long road trips, it's great to capture photos and videos of the scenic countryside, but a remote is the only safe way to operate the camera.Enter this Gadgin BT Remote. Using the provided lanyard, I hung it from the rear view mirror, with the button right in my reach, and, whenever I wanted to grab a photo of the view outside the windshield, I just pressed the remote, and, presto! Instant photo journey, or, when in video mode, instant on and off to make a video of whatever length I wanted.How easy was it to work?Well, right out of the packaging, it paired instantly to my phone, no trouble at all. It showed up as AB Shutter 6. It would have been nice if the instructions stated such, but as a new device showing up in "Scan For Devices" mode, it was obvious what it was.I did get the usual "keyboard change" alert, that I got with the piece of junk Qmote, since, like the Qmote, this shows itself on your device as an "external keyboard" but, with this BT Remote, I simply confirmed my existing keyboard (I use the Swiftkey app -- far superior to what comes pre-loaded in the phone) and had no problems. This is an issue, I guess, with Apple devices, but in Android you can still use your keyboard just fine, for texting or whatever.Now, I did have a few issues as I began using it:1. It triggers the volume menu. If I am in silent mode, or using the HTC 10's Do Not Disturb mode, this BT Remote will kick me out of either mode, first setting my phone to vibrate and then, with each successive press, while it does take a photo, it also will turn up the volume progressively until it is at maximum, meaning any call or notification is screaming at me, full blast.While this only occurs in photo mode, it made a mess when I switched to video mode (having not seen that the volume had been set to its highest setting) and was merrily making a great video of a deer, while a rest stop, only to be interrupted by a blaring email notification that sent the deer running off in a panic, and ruining the video. It was in re-setting to silent, and taking a photo while watching the screen, that I noted the volume change happening in conjunction with using this remote.The instructions did not discuss this, at all.My work around for this was, when silent mode was wanted, such as not to disturb wildlife, to turn the shutter sound itself off, within the camera and, since it won't let me keep the rest of my phone on silent, I just managed the HTC 10's notification profiles to instruct the phone not to notify me of any incoming calls, messages, emails, etc. That way, even with the volume at max, no alerts will be triggered.2. Sleep mode. This device, after what seems like maybe three or five minutes, puts itself in a power conserving mode. This means, when you press the button, you don't get a picture or start a video -- it just wakes up the device, and then, after a second or two, your next press will take the pic or start the vid.The instructions did not say anything about this either, so, needless to say, I missed a lot of great shots, when, with the device switched on, I went to take a picture and only woke up the device, with no photo being taken, while the scenery passed me by.This was also an issue on a tripod. Waiting patiently for a fox to get perfectly in frame, go to press the button -- no picture, just the device waking itself up.... and the fox is gone by the time the device is ready for use.My work around for this? I'll cover it in my next point....3. Power Use. Even with this sleep/wake operation, since there is no low battery warning of any kind, you have no idea when the battery will die and, as Murphy's Law would have it, mine died on a fabulous stretch of mountain highway with epic photo opportunities...and no place to pull over and put in a fresh battery. I only got maybe three hours out of it, so, in the course of a full day's adventures, that's quite a few batteries to go through.My work around here was to simply keep it off when not using it, using the physical power switch it has, and, when anticipating use, switching it back on, since it wakes up just as fast from being off, as it does from its "sleep" mode.This made the battery last much longer, of course, and also this overcame the problem of not knowing if the device was awake or asleep (thus potentially missing a shot your were waiting for). Once switched on physically, I knew for sure it was ready to activate the camera.My only concern here is premature wear on the little on/off switch, but so far so good -- using it for a full day in this on/off mode, instead of relying on the wake/sleep function, the battery lasted all day, and the switch worked just as great at day's end, as at the start.4. Instructions. As I've said, above, none of these issues were covered in the instructions. They were very brief and happy and positive, basically saying just turn it on, pair it, and wow, off you go! But it wasn't that simple, as I've explained.So, these issues are what knocked off a star. Why only one star? Because I was able to fairly easily work around all of the issues, and, with my work arounds in place, this did exactly what I wanted, reliably and easily.Other features I liked:The little blue light on the side is much appreciated to indicate that it is pairing, that it is switched on, or that, when blinking rapidly, the battery is dead. Again, however, none of that is explained in any instructions, so, for example, when the battery died for the first time, I thought the device was broken, or pairing was failing for some reason, until I saw the blue light blink fast, when turning it from off to on, and guessed (correctly) that such was a dead battery indicator.These are things that would be much appreciated to be outlined in thorough instructions.Pairing was very reliable. Once paired, through my phone, it stayed paired, although I had to be sure to connect to it first, before turning on my car, otherwise my pushy BMW kept grabbing the BT connection away from the BT Remote.I liked that using the BT Remote helped conserve my phone battery (which drains much faster, obviously, with the camera constantly on) because I could turn my phone screen off, and, using the BT Remote, turning the BT Remote on and pressing the button once, it would "wake up" my phone, and then both BT Remote and phone were ready for a photo or video session.The physical construction is terrific -- that little open ring area comes in really handy, since this is a small device. The ring area makes it easy to grasp, without having to see what you're doing, plus, when hung from my review mirror, it gave a great purchase point to work the slide switch, for powering it on and off between uses. The battery port door slides open and shut easily and replacing the battery is super simple. The actuating function button is sure and certain.It does use a CR2016 battery (thank you, Picon, fellow Amazoner, for pointing that out to me), which is not always readily available perhaps, and is a bit pricey, if bought individually (Amazon has them in bulk for much lower than most stores). I keep a supply on hand, since I do have other devices that also use the CR2016, but it would be nice if this took the CR2032 instead (thanks again, Picon) because it would yield longer use time. In any case, it is wise to pack along extras of the CR2016, since it may be more of a specialty battery, depending on local supply, especially while traveling. You don't want to get caught with a dead battery and no replacement.SUMMARY:GREAT DEVICE. Worked beautifully, once I really figured out the best way to use it. Connected easily, stayed connected, let me wake my phone to conserve phone battery, allowed for conservation of BT Remote battery by using the power switch to have it on or off as desired, functioned flawlessly to remote operate my phone in either camera or video mode, once I worked around the issues mentioned.DOWNFALL: Poor instructions, in terms of being way too brief and not covering problematic issues. The issues themselves were resolvable, but the manufacturer should have covered such potential problems with appropriate detail. Shorter battery life than hoped for, and, at three or four bucks a battery (if not bought in bulk), going through several a day could get pricey if this was in constant use -- but using the switch to modulate power use helps extend battery life, and is more feasible for use anyway, in the manner I noted, to avoid the device falling asleep at a crucial moment.SUGGESTIONS:Provide better instructions. While most tech capable people would be able to figure this device out, like I did (and I am not super capable, by any means, and was still able to figure it out), with trial and error, there is no reason not to provide thorough instructions, explaining the various meanings of the indicator light, the sleep/wake mode, how long before sleep mode kicks in, noting that, in sleep mode, it won't act as a remote without a delay to first wake itself wake up, the advantage of battery conservation by using the on/off switch, what to do when encountering issues like the keyboard or sound menu being activated, etc. This would go a long way toward making this more user friendly, especially for folks who are perhaps less familiar with navigating tech gadgets. It would also tell the customer that the company has looked at using this device from a customer point of view, helping to walk a user through use of the device.Might be nice too, to have graduated lights for the remaining power -- or maybe a red light or something when the battery has a third remaining or whatever, since the battery running out at an inopportune time, without notice, is kind of frustrating.DEVELOPMENT SUGGESTION:MAKE AN APP FOR THIS!!! How awesome would it be, if there was an app that worked with this device?That's what Qmote was aiming at, and, unfortunately, they totally bombed at it, since the gadget itself was terrible, so the app working or not working didn't really matter, since the device itself was junk (although the app was also junk -- pretty annoying considering how much money they raised).But, this device is really good, overall, so I can only imagine how great a simple app would be to go with it, that could:1. Tell you how much battery life is remaining in the remote.2. Control the sleep mode, both in length of time, and as an option that can be turned off completely.3. Confirm BT connection, in the app, so you don't have to go over to your BT menu to make sure you're connected.4. Possibly an option for the app itself to provide audible notifications, through your device, to advise you of low battery, for example, warn of pending sleep mode activation, alert you to a lost BT connection, etc.An app like that would make this device the best on the market, bar none, for remote phone/tablet camera operation.All in all, this device turned out to be a big winner for me, despite the minor issues noted -- while better instructions are definitely needed, the device was simple enough to figure out on my own, and solve problems encountered, although I would hope that Gadgin steps up to the plate and improves on the information they provide with the device.I hope this has been helpful. Great product at a great price and is a great gift

I cannot believe how easy it was to set it up and then to use it. Literally three steps, and the three steps were written on the box. This is definitely a winner!

Bought this product myself out of a few options seemed this one looked best so went for it\Order/Shipping/Otherplaced order and the shipment was sent out pretty fast, got the remote a bit before i was even expecting it, was sent fedex is one those yellow bubble padded envelopes, came in box they show in picture, everything seemed well and new, everything good here/Testing/PerformanceI have 3 devices i was able to test this product onSamsung Note 5 (5.1) , Nexus S 4G (4.2.2) , iPad mini 4 (9.2.1)\Samsung Note 5the remote on my note 5 showed up as the AB Shutter6 the connection was quick, at the home screen the clicker seems bring up google search, in the default app the photo will take fine, the range i tested upto 15feet worked fine, the camera portion the app is not a mode that can set the phone in without filming so the clicker was not able to be used on video by default app, other apps that can set the mode may fair better, while the remote was connected i didn't see any interference using anything else or keyboard ect/Nexus S 4Gthe remote showed up as its device address number but then afterwards did show up as AB shutter6, with this device tho i was not able to get any reaction from the device on remote click no mater where i was on the phone, picture app, home screen, ect, this device is 4.2.2 as says base requirement so not sure what cause issue\iPad mini 4the remote shows up as keyboard first then after connecting changes the AB Shutter6, the home screen the remote will raise the volume, in the defualt app the remote works for pictures and because camera is a separate mode it is able to do video perfectly fine also, also tested at about 15ft and was fine, while the remote was connected tho it counted as a keyboard so on anything i went to try and type the keyboard would simply not show up on screen so this does hinder the devices use while its connected/Generalthe remote itself is light, small as seen pictures, the switch is vary nice comes useful, comes with extra battery as seen picture what is nice, the 2 devices it worked did not have any disconnect issue and through multiple pictures over time, the device typically pretty good reconnecting device pretty fast when switched on tho when trying cross it between devices can take a bit for it re establish with the device, being able swap battery is nice and the main button has nice feel\Summeryin the end this pretty useful device and nicely made, with android you get pictures and benefit it not interfering other tasks but the down side having issues doing video and risk older devices maybe not working, with ios you get great picture and video usage but down side it interfering other tasks, either way if your just looking good picture clicker and have modern device this remote will be solid for you

It doesn't trigger the iPhone camera with each push of the button. Perhaps the issue is the iPhone, perhaps it is the remote. This is the 3rd Gadgin remote I have owned so I am not familiar with the operation of others.

The media could not be loaded.  Worked fine for pictures and videos on my Android phone on the default camera. However, it did not work on another photo/video shooting app I downloaded. When using that app, it triggers the volume up function.I suspect that's an issue with the app, not the remote because I downloaded a different app and it worked fine on it.
