I bought this to improve the cab sound in my Dakota Quad Cab when I was installing new speakers (my wife blew out the old ones!!). It was very easy to work with and install. All I needed was a utility knife to cut the mat to the sizes I needed for the install. It will stay on after it is in place but it is forgiving on install. This means you can make adjustments with the piece you are working with before you roller it down. Using the roller tool (sold separately)was worth the price of admission. It definitely made install easier and was able to clear any air pockets as well as give excellent adhesion. RESULTS: After the install there was a quick difference that could be heard. First thing you noticed is that when the doors are closed they sound more like a luxury car door closing. No more hollow sound, they sounded more solid. The sound in the cab is reduced and this is noticeable when no radio is on. Road noise has been reduced and it is a much nicer environment. As for the music...much nicer listening and clearer due to no competing noises from the road. Everyone who enters the vehicle likes it and knows there is a difference. NOTES: I installed this on the inner door and the outer door. Some sites and installers will tell you this is unnecessary but if you are in the door why not. The thin sheet metal is all that is between you and the road. This pack covered two doors in the front. I bought two boxes to cover all four doors. It took one afternoon to install and it was complete. This is not a hard project at all. If you can get the door panels on and off you can install this product. PRICE: I checked all over the internet and found that Amazon had the best price for this. From my experience this is likely to continue. Free shipping just solidified the deal. Check what you might need and compare the 4 sheet and 9 sheet boxes. Most of the time 2 4 sheet boxes will be cheaper per square inch and get the job done. Check prices and decide before you purchase. OVERALL: I am very pleased with this product and would recommend it to anyone. It does what it is advertised to and is very easy to install. It will not make much difference if your vehicle has a lot of soundproofing already but if your car does not then this will do wonders. My truck had some very small pieces of factory mat in the outer door metal already. They were just covered by the Dynamat. You may find the same thing during your install. They must think the truck needed some. I just took it up a notch.

Honestly speaking, this is one of the best products that I have ever purchased. I'm an audiophile who installed a high-end stereo system (4 Polk Audio MM6501, JL Audio XD400 amp, and JVC XR-810 receiver) into a new VW Tiguan. The primary reason that I installed dynamat into all four of my doors was that I heard some rattling at higher volumes. Not only did the dynamat eliminate the rattling, it truly improved the sound by a large margin. Bass and mids became "punchier" and more lively. Unusually, volume increased by about 20% when measured against the volume knob on my receiver. In sum, it transformed a good sound system into a very good system. I'm still ironing out the sound between my amp and receiver to turn it into an excellent system, but the dynamat more than did its job. BTW, I used their better roller, which worked excellently. I had NO problems getting cut despite not using gloves and using only moderate awareness and care. Since my doors did not allow me to lay it out in large strips, I had to cut it into many shapes using heavy duty scissors, which worked very well. Once you remove the paper backing, the material adheres to the doors easily, but not so readily so that you can't lift if off again to place it where you want. The patchwork that I created may not have been pretty, but it worked very, very well. The extra weight on the door makes a nice solid sound when you close it as well. Honestly, I can't imagine any cons to this product. Very easy to cut, not too sticky, easy to roll out the air -- and it improves your sound my a large margin!

Dynamat is a great invention. If you are at least moderately handy with cars, then installing this stuff will be a no-brainer. If, like me, you are challenged in that department, it's still a no-brainer install. So if you're on the fence, just buy some and spend an afternoon tinkering with your car like your old man did "back in the days." Folks have different opinions about Brand X vs Brand Y. I cannot honestly speak to those differences, though I am sure someone has on the interwebs previously. I can say that I've dynamatted two cars thus far and have been pleased with Dynamat's accessibility, easy of use, and efficacy. I bought this pack to do the doors on my '13 Civic SI. I had more than enough to complete the job. My aftermarket speakers sound great and the car seems quieter. I didn't do a full dynamat so I didn't expect miracles. The doors feel heavier which makes me feel as if it's doing its job. I mean, honestly, unless you do your entire car top to bottom, it's going to be difficult to hear the differences. Are you actually hearing less noise? Or do you just want to hear less noise because you spent an afternoon dynamatting your car? That's probably hard to quantify. For me, I think I got some value out of dynamatting my car so it was worth it. I've heard that some other brands leave a noxious odor during hot days (google this). I have never had that experience with Dynamat and I live in South Texas where the sun practically lives inside your car. I've also never had dynamat lose it's stickyness. I mean in my previous Mazda, I didn't like disassemble the door panel to actually check, but I'm fairly sure I'd here some sort of movement if it had been a problem. And I did a really poor job on that car. I took my time with my new civic, bought a paint roller from Home Depot, and did a fairly good DIY job.

I have a BMW X5 E53, those of you have owned or owned this car know very well the feeling we get when someone closes the door hard or worse when its slammed. It started getting to the point where I began thinking that my 10 year old daughter was going to destroy the door each time she closed it. On top of that, as much as BMW's are "The Ultimate Driving Machines", they come with horrible stereo's and they are not sound proof, well at least my generation of BMW. So I decided to buy this after doing much research, as most of you know, for BMW's or any premium car that removing the door panels without breaking any door clips isn't easy due to the age of the car. After removing the panels, I installed the dynamat which was easy, even more easy of you have the roller which helps a lot. Now, let me first say that you are going to need two boxes of these in order to cover 4 doors on an SUV, also, don't forget to have a blade with you to do cutting, be very careful not to cut into any wires. I installed this on all of the metal on the door panel, with all of the left over Dynamat that was left from the cutting, I used it and placed it around the area where the panel clips go and also added it to the inner door area behind the panel. Now, this dynamat is much better than the original, the differences is that the original needed a hair dryer in order to smooth out the product and with this one all you need is the roller. Do you really need the roller? No, if you have time you can use your palms, or a rubber hammer, but it will be time consumming. Now, as I mentioned with age some door panel clips will break, for me the clips that hold certain cables/wires in place broke, so I bought some felt/plush tape and wraped the wires with that and it helped. As with other reviews, there was a major difference right away, the stereo sounded louder, clearer, the bass was hitting harder. After enjoying the stereo for an hour, I turned it off and drove around testing the road noise. It was an amazing difference in road noise, the car seemed much better and more enjoyable as the road noise was down alot, I would say 60 percent better than stock sound. What I loved most, the door shaking and the loud noise that the car door made was better, much better to the point that I don't dread when people close the door. If you have the time it's worth it, if you value your alone time when coming home from work or a stressful day and you need to relax in silence or to really enjoy your music at a low volume without road noise this is what you need. Also, I took a road trip with the family and my Wife and I always talk during all road trips and this was the first time we didn't have to yell or speak loudly when conversing, it's amazing... Don't think about it, just install it today.....

This product worked great, I was replacing the OEM speakers in my Toyota 4Runner and thought it would be a good time to soundproof the road noise and make the stereo sound better. After doing all four doors and the tailgate, the ride is much quieter. This product was easy to use and stuck well to the door panels. I did use a roller to get proper adhesion. I cut the product into smaller pieces to make it easier to work with. I bought two boxes and there was more than enough for the four doors and tailgate area.

I tried researching this product prior to the installation, and concluded that it works only if it is applied to the metal surface - for vibration dampening. It does not work as a sound barrier like other thicker sound damning materials do. So it seems to me that some recommendations to apply this product to the car doors look misleading - they show the product being installed in place of the door vapor barrier. The inside panel of the door has lots of openings and crevices, and the mat is not going to block the noise when it just covers a large opening. The best place to apply the product to a car door - is the inside of the outside sheet of metal the door is made of. I tried to cover as much of the door surface is I could, using every leftover piece in the hard-to-reach places. I also applied some of the product around the speaker grills, and on the plastic grill spacers to kill the sound resonance. I installed this product to my RAV4 car in steps: - Front doors. It decreased the front tire noise considerably, but the noise shifted to the back. It was very uncomfortable, it felt like increased noise pressure right behind me. - Rear wheel wells (inside of the car compartment). I noticed that the car had almost no soundproofing in those areas, so the tire noise leaked inside. Result - the overall noise pressure decreased somewhat, but now I could hear very directional road noise coming from the rear doors. The doors edges facing the rear wheel wells allow the noise to leak through. - I applied the product to the rear doors, paying special attention to cover the door edge (covered both surfaces inside of the door) opposite of the hinge side. Result - the directional noise decreased a lot, so there is just uniform muffled road noise inside of the car, quite comfortable for my ear. Of course the wind noise is now much more pronounced - side effect of the road noise decrease. My next plan - to cover the hood under the stock hood liner (the metal there sounds like an empty can) to decrease the engine noise, and add more lining inside of the tailgate to decrease the road noise even further.

Packaging: Shipped in a Amazon brown box. The contents were in a branded DYNAMAT box very tightly folded. Product Impressions: The materials come pretty tightly packed. I recommend taking it out the night before a project to let it "straighten out" before install as that helped me install easier. The material was easy to install and cut up. I used literally every square inch of it on my 4 doors of my Camry Hybrid. It's weird to barely hear any road noise from the doors and just hear the wind going across the glass but hey, it means its doing its job! In my opinion, if you want a budget buy/build, look up the "bell" metaphor for this as you're going to pay a pretty penny to do all 4 doors of your car with this covering the whole door. I did patches and it appears to work the same. Watch YouTube videos and see what people say for your car! If you get any of the tar-like on any tools, I tested Goo-Gone on it and it removed it quite nicely. Usability: Works great on CLEANED metal frame of my Camry Hybrid. Use isopropyl alcohol to clean the surface first! Overall Thoughts: Great price, easy install, backing DID make a nice difference for my new speakers. Note your car doors will sound differently closing and will be heavier.
