Kershaw Emerson CQC-K Pocket Knives, Manual Opening Folding Knife with Wave Shaped Feature, Multiple Styles

Great value for a wave opening ermerson colab. I have a lot of knives, some high dollar, some high value. This is a great high value knife for $30-40 8cr13mov seems to be getting a lot of respect in the knife community for high value knives ($40 and under) It holds a decent edge and is easy to sharpen when it needs it (just keep up with your edge and you'll never have to worry about re-profiling the blade). The spyderco tenacious was my first encounter with 8cr13mov and I love that knife. The blade needs a touch up out of the box, but that's normal with high value knives. The blade itself is beautiful with 2 emerson logos on it and I'm happy with the $30 that I spent on it. I had to go to the specs to see what material the handle was. It says textured g10. If that's the case, it's not my favorite g10. I would have thought it was nylon. The g10 on my benchmade 710 and my 5.11 taran 1 have a way grippier feel. This g10 is a bit slippery. Not trying to be a knife snob, but it's just something I noticed and thought others might want to know. Some jimping on the thumb ramp/wave feature and on the finger choil, should you need to do any serious cutting, which I have done with mine and the liner lock held up just fine. Not sharp jimping, but not weak either. Happy to have it on a knife under $60 The pocket clip is reservable and has the sweet Emerson logo on it. Another thing I like is that the screws to get into the knife are just regular screws. No crazy shaped screws that you need to buy a special driver for.. this is something you could take apart with a basic screwdriver set and clean your liners of dust and debris. Thumbs up for that. Overall a beautiful little knife for $30-40 and the wave feature works just as you'd expect. Grab yourself one, you'll love it.

I have always wanted to get an Emerson knife but due to a brand new baby, I have not had the $200.00 or more to spend on one. This was a way for me to get an Emerson designed knife but at an affordable cost. I can not weigh in on how this knife compares to an actual Emerson but I can weigh in on this knife. Emerson has designed around 7 knives for Kershaw to build. I chose this model for several reasons. I liked the look, I love tanto blades, and this won the Blade Shows "best budget knife" award. Once opening the knife I was surprised that it had some decent weight to it. The blade was decently sharp but I did not do any extensive test cutting. The tanto point was super sharp, as is the design. The only two things I had an issue with was the belt clip and the action of the knife. The pocket clip was so aggressive and tight that it grabs so hard on the pocket that at times it is hard to even pull out of the pocket. The issue with Blade was the opening g of it. The primary way of opening this blade is by using the thumb disk. Yes, there is the wave feature designed into the top of the blade, but that is not the method that many or maybe even most will choose to use. Either the Blade just needed broken in or the screw was too tight. I opened and shut the blade probably 100 times to see if that worked by helping to break it in. Nope. I did not have any lube so I tried the next option. I backed off the tension screw a ways until the blade was so loose that it would fall completely shut once the liner lock was disengaged. I then re-tightened until it was at my desired tension. The knife now works like a charm. Well that's my quick review of this knife.

Great knife at an even better price. I always wanted the original Emerson wave, but at $250 or so couldn't justify it being another EDC addition. Now that Kershaw has the rights to produce it, you still get a good quality knife at a much better price... especially when you have others and you don't really "need" another knife. Beware, you will have to practice withdrawing this from your pocket to open properly. You will also need to practice taking it out of your pocket and keeping the blade closed! Yes it will open that easily. But practice on older heavy duty pants, to avoid ruining the corner of thin pants/shorts as you need to 'catch the wave' on the pocket corner. You will have to be cautious at first in handling it, and the blade locking feature is my least favorite so needing to adapt to it, as opposed to the Benchmade I used to carry. The blade seems plenty sharp, I'm really really resisting cutting anything and everything in sight to preserve the edge, I bought this a personal defense EDC not a box cutter. The overall size and thickness are easy in all my pockets so far. Two color is great.

This Kershaw 6034T Emerson Designed CQC-7K caught my eye when a saw the announcement from the shot show and a snatched one up as soon as it came out. At a sub $30 knife I admittedly wasn't expecting much; I was surprised. When I received in from Amazon, and opened it, I was pleasantly surprised by not only the weight but the fit and finish was also surprisingly good. It wasn't up to the fit and finish of their own USA made Zero Tolerance nor that of a good Spyderco but for a $30 knife, it was good. Top this off with the fact that it had an Emerson opener and you have a winner in my book. BLADE The 3.25 inch blade on this knife is made of 8Cr14MoV steel. 8Cr14MoV is a common steel coming out of of China and in the same class more or less as AUS-8. It sharpens easily but edge retention is no where near that of VG-10, S30V, CPM-154, etc. While this one came with a Tanto blade which in theory is better for stabbing out of control car doors and angry car hoods, in my opinion, it's not as utilitarian as a regular clip point blade that comes with the Kershaw CQC-6K . The thumb disk and Emerson Wave for opening is familiar from Emerson's own knives and work just like they do. I've never been a fan of the disk for opening and think Spyderco's hole or thumb studs work better but the disk works none-the-less. The wave on this knife works great! It works so good in fact, I'd venture to say it works better and smoother than my real Emerson. Throw in a few Emerson graphics and the blade looks pretty good and functions pretty good as well. It did not however hold and edge as good as some of my other higher priced knives with better steel; but that was expected. Fortunately it sharpened very easy. The blade thickness of 0.11 inches made it sufficiently thick for most EDC tasks. LOCK The lock on this knife is a Chris Reeve Style frame lock without the over travel disk. The frame by the way is made of 410 stainless steel. This alleviates the concern that some folks have had about Titanium frame locks locking against a stainless blade. The concern I've heard and read is eventual lock wear. I own several Titanium Frame locks and have never seen this issue so I don't know that I subscribe to it. Either way, the concern has caused many knife companies to place a stainless steel cover or shim over the lock face on many titanium framed knives. Since this knife frame is made of 410 stainless, there should be no concern with this issue. It locked up tight with no play in up and down and minimal play side to side. Again, pretty good for a $30 Chinese made knife. FIT AND FINISH Fit and finish was pretty dang good for a knife of this price. This IS NOT your typical $10 Chinese made junk you find at your local convenience store. This is a real, usable knife with slight blade play but otherwise F&F was very good. ERGONOMICS Again, possibly because this knife had to be signed off on by both Kershaw and Emerson, the ergo's on this knife were pretty dang good for a 7.75" (opened) knife. The rounded edges and soft jimping are a pleasure to hold and use. I'm impressed. EMERSON OPENER The Emerson opener on this little knife was is in my opinion as good as or (dare I say) better in some respects than my actual Emerson. Combine that with the smoothness of opening and you can open this little knife reliably every time with a proper draw from the pocket. POCKET CLIP The pocket clip is well done on this knife. It is long enough to allow for sufficient flex to make insertion into the pocket easy. Combine the clip with the smooth 410 stainless frame and you have an easy knife to draw from the pocket while staying in place when and where you want it to. The only ding is that it is only reversible not the four positions like some knives. SMOOTHNESS OF OPENING From the pocket utilizing the Emerson Wave, this knife pops open like a champ and locks solidly into place. Opening with the thumb disk can be done easily but no were near as flickable as a Spyderco's spyderhole or even a thumb stud. USES The uses of this knife are pretty much limitless. There are some tasks that a clip point such as the Kershaw 6034 Emerson Designed CQC-6K could accomplish better but this blade will accomplish most of your day to day chores. Unfortunately, the 8Cr14MoV blade steel limits its use as a survival or even a camp knife. It's somewhat soft for those tasks which require sharpening and sharpening in those scenarios isn't always an option. I think you'd want something that holds and edge a bit better. CONCLUSION For what this little knife is, I really liked it. Amazon has it at a very good price, it has decent steel, has an Emerson Opener, good frame lock, opens extremely smoothly, FAST from the pocket and the fit and finish is decent. The dings are the steel, slight blade play and made in China. If you can live with the small dings against it, I think it's a pretty good little knife. You won't find a better looking, faster opening or useful knife in the $30 price range. If this is your price range, get one!

I gave this knife four stars as I am certainly no knife expert or owned a lot of knives previously to have gained a vast knowledge of higher quality knives. I got this knife in February of this year mainly for using at work for certain tasks where a much smaller, serrated edged knife (freebie from work) was nearly useless or a waste of time. I was looking for a tanto blade on the lower end of the price scale as I don't need it a lot, but when I do, it's mainly for piercing and slicing plastic lined heavy duty paper bags and cutting plastic straps on pallets, so I was looking for something where the blade tip might hold up and perform well. The Wave feature caught my eye and figured I'd give it a try for an easy one handed operation. I carry this knife in my front pocket (clip removed) and it's size has never really been an issue. Most of the time while crouching or sitting, do I even realize it's there. It took a little bit of practice the first day or two carrying the knife to become proficient enough where I could remove it from my pocket and fully open it fairly quickly almost 100% of the time. From time to time, I catch myself doing it simply for how simple and effective the design is and I have no intended use at that time. The blade has held up great in my opinion as it has received no damage or needed sharpening six months later. The blade locks very well and is also easy to unlock one handed. It feels very comfortable in my hand, both in the closed and open position. All in all, I really like this knife and since it dropped below $30, I got another for whenever/wherever. Several of my coworkers are really impressed with how quickly and easily the knife goes from pocket to full open using the Wave feature and they all use the assisted opening knives.

This is a great knife for the ~$30 price. The blade opening was a bit stiff at first, but it's breaking in. I found it odd that it had a G10 scale on one side and bare stainless steel on the other (for the frame-lock), but I really like the aesthetic. Blade is nicely centered, and the lock is strong - no blade wobble. This is a well-built knife. I also like the 'wave' opener (that little rounded spike on top of the blade behind the thumb stud - if you pull the knife from your pocket at the right angle it'll catch and open the blade very quickly); I've got a Spyderco Delica 4 with the wave on it, I find this one much less obtrusive. Gotta admit I had some reservations about buying this knife, but you might say I have something of a weakness for knives, and I'm glad I bought it. Purists will probably scoff at it as a bastardization of Emerson's design. They'd probably say things like "Chinese steel and no chisel-grind? Poppycock!" If that's you, you can find the real deal over on Emerson's website, but it'll cost about 6 or 7x as much. Is this one as good? No, probably not... But in my mind this knife is probably worth $30-50, while the 'real deal' chisel-ground 154CM blade is worth nowhere close to the ~$200 they charge for it, making this knife a much better value. It's even a better deal than the Spyderco Tenacious, which had been my 'best bang for the buck' favorite of mine for a while now.

First time bought this knife for under 30$ almost a decade ago. I love everything about it for EDC Here we are a decade later and the price has gone up to 46$ but it's still worth it to me and super excited I could still get my hands on one. There aren't many options out there right now for a hard use Tanto folder in a sub 50$ price range. I do sharpen it often. But I've beat up more Spyderco's and Benchmades over the years that hurt the pockets alot more. This tip will not snap. And although I never needed it for self defense, it was designed with that in mind and deploys faster than any other type of opening mechanism. I wish they'd come out with the tanto in D2 like they did the cqc6k clip point version. However, the aluminum pivot screw gets easily torn apart real quickly and will strip even with the newest and finest of screwdriver. I understand Emerson originally had designed it for easy field maintenance. But there's no chisel ground blade and we can use something a little better here. Otherwise It's one of my favorite underrated budget blades.

Solid knife with an amazing opening, opens smoothly and seems to be made well, clip could be a bit deeper but I’m guessing it can’t be to deep or the wave might not work. I don’t love the half and half design with only one scale on the outer side but it’s not bad for the price, I just got it so it’s a bit stiff but I’m assuming that it just needs to be broken in a bit more EDIT: I’ve been using this for about a week now and it’s been nice but I will say the blade wiggles quite a bit and tightening the screw only helps temporarily, the blade play is about the only thing wrong with it tho, the Emerson emblem on the clip is coming off but that’s not really a problem for me it’s just a sign of wear. The blade play is annoying but looking it up makes it seem like the only option is to apply loctite to the threads and I honestly don’t trust myself with that and it’s rather annoying that I’d have to do that to to fix the play in general, not a deal breaker just pretty annoying. Oh and also it will occasionally not fully open

Tanto... und ein Emmerson ... Da kann man schon mal über hundert Euro hinlegen. Es gibt im Netz jedoch keine schlechte Bewertung für das Kershaw Emmerson aus China. Also hab ich mir nach einer anstrengenden Arbeitswoche mal eine Belohnung zukommen lassen. Wenn das Ding nix taugt wird es halt was für den Garten. Seit einer Woche hab ich das Messer jetzt täglich bei mir inder Hosentasche. Und da kommt es so schnell nicht wieder weg. Es hat mein über alles geliebtes Spyderco Delica vertrieben. Und dazu gehört schon was. Der beidseitige Holschliff verleiht dem Messer ein gutes Allround Talent. Der Framelock steht wie eine Eins und es gibt auch nach einer Woche hartem Einsatz kein Klingenspiel. Eine super Performance ab Werk. Obwohl der Stahl als nicht so wirklich schnitthaltig verrufen ist steht die Schneide gut. Das ist kein Messer für die Outdoorküche. Das kann ein SAK besser. Es ist ein tolles Werkzeug für die harte tägliche Arbeit. Klare Kaufempfehlung .

Para ser una navaja china tiene muy buenos controles de calidad excelente filo de fabrica y viseles, arandelas de teflon, hoja perfectamente centrara, en general una fabricacion bastante decente y detallada, eventualmente como toda navaja o pieza mecanica requiere un mantenimiento es normal pero no la considero una navaja utilitaria ya que por el diseño es mas bien una herramienta de "defensa", un poco sobre valuada debido a las patentes de emerson lo cual es un bonito diseño si se te dificulta pagar 4-5 veces mas por una emerson original, pero en general cumple mis espectativas, no esperaba mas ni menos, se pueden conseguir mejores navajas a un menor o mismo precio pero sin tener diseño de emerson/kershaw.
