If you're already a Makita battery person...
I kinda bought this on a whim. We just got a travel trailer and I like to keep a portable air pump around just in case. I already have one in our Durango, its a 12 V model that hooks up to your car battery. The wires are plenty long for the car, but would be a stretch to make it to the wheels of our trailer. I always bring my Makita drill along, if for nothing else than to spin the stabilizer jacks up and down. I also bought the Makita cordless wet/dry vac that I keep in my shop and bring to clean up when camping. So I figured this would be another nice item to bring in case I need to air up the tires. I just got it and am quite impressed. I walked around the garage and filled some bike tires (Schrader and presta valve), the tires to my pressure washer, and even the tires to my 50 gallon shop air compressor. This is so much more convenient than even just unwrapping the hose from my shop compressor to fill tires. Good Things: Light weight, fast, you can preset the target pressure you want to fill to, comes with Schrader valve, presta valve and needle valve attachments. Bad things (and I don't really think any of these are bad, just things other reviews have complained about) Its fairly loud (like just about any other compressor), does not have a brushless motor (not sure I even care since this is not a constant duty tool like a drill, saw or impact driver), you have to hold the trigger on until the pump reaches target pressure, there is no trigger lock. On that last one I really don't see what the big deal is. I think this will only run for 5 minutes before it needs to take a break because it's not designed for constant duty. And if that really bothers you, I see other people just use a velcro tie wrap to keep the trigger on. Since I just got this I can't comment on durability. But the build quality seems good. It filled my daughter's bicycle tires from 9 psi to 35 psi in about 30 seconds. I don't think this would be very good for inflating large items like air mattresses. I guess I can give that a try at some point. But for my use, this will be used a lot for topping things off that I normally ignore because it's just a pain in the butt to unroll my shop compressor hose. This just comes out to the car with you. If you already have other 18V Makita LXT tools this is a very nice add. Maybe a bit pricy, but my experience is mini air compressors are generally not cheap.

Makita Tools are Hands Down Awesome!
Makita, I own 60+ Makita Tools, some near 25 years old. I was hesitant to buy this because of a few reviews. But I’ve not been let down in near 3 decades of Makita, I took the plunge as I do have a pressure washers, wheel Barrow, a parts Truck or two, Moving Dolly’s and 5 Family Cars. Sure some of my stuff doesn’t get used for months on end and tires go Flat or lose air. Well instead of firing up a Noisy 240Volt Compressor I grabbed the lightweight, ergonomic Tool, added a Battery and went to work, I used for my first use a 6.0ah Battery, I said ok let’s test it out, 2 pressure washer tires at 30 PSI, two Dolly tires at 30 PSI, a wheel barrow tire at 30 PSI, 4 ford ranger tires at 40 PSI, now sure they were not Flat but had near a 1/4 of the recommended pressure in them and this tool did all of them great, the nice features are the ability to set a pressure and the tool shuts off when reached. The hose whip that locks on the Stem is great. Sure you have to hold the trigger but by NO means as one reviewer said does it need a trigger lock, I have carpol tunnel and I had NO issues holding the Trigger. The Tool did not overheat as I went one tire after the other. I then checked my battery meter and the battery was still showing full. So, by far I’m pleased, it beats firing up my 60 Gallon shop compressor, My 30 Gallon Mobile Compressor or My Framing Compressor. No big hoses to wind up after. No compressors to drain. Plus it would be awesome on Road Trips along with a Tire Plugging kit as I frequent a isolated Ranch 150 miles away from my home and 20 miles away from any service’s. Makita you did good! I recommend it to anyone. I would gather for such a small compressor it does take a little time to fill a completely flat tire but it beats trying to fill it with your mouth when your on the side of a freeway on the way home on a Sunday night at 10pm. I’m sold and it’s a Five Stars from me, a retired Union Electrician and former Master Certified automobile and heavy duty Truck Mechanic. Thank you Makita!

Great little (I do mean little) inflator by Makita
First, for some reason this Outdoor Adventure model is at the time I bought it less expensive than the Blue Makita 180 inflator which works exactly the same. Go figure. Anyway, after using my son's Makita inflator, I knew I would enjoy the convenience of not dragging out the compressor driven air tank whenever I needed to equalize tire pressures. The advantage of this is that on winter trips away from home when there are large temperature fluctuations, it is so easy to readjust tire pressures without searching out service station devices. Who has quarters anymore anyway! Functionally it is so easy, set the gauge to desired pressure and pull the trigger. It turns off when the target is reached. Easy. A few tips: after reaching the target pressure let it rest for a bit, sometimes the pressure will drift downward 1/2 lb requiring another brief trigger squeeze. Second tip is that you must have Makita batteries which display the battery level indicator. The older LXT batteries (they have a star but not the battery indicator) won't mount to this device. Luckily I had just bought (@HomeDepot) a pair of 4 AH batteries for my other tools 'cause the 2 AH older packs wouldn't work. There are comments about not having a trigger lock for those rare times when you're inflating for a longer time. Well, rare for my use, but I suppose if you are inflating rubber boats or constantly inflating ATV or large truck tires I can see how a trigger lock (also a real tanked compressor I'd think) would be helpful. Do note that this has a thermal shutoff so running it for too long will likely trigger that. Anyway, an enterprising Chinese company has a product on Amazon that velcros onto this inflator for those who need that sort of thing. I think it's even less than $10. Cheers.

Yet another clever and good unit from Makita
Finally I’m able to take the air to the tire, as opposed to lugging and struggling with taking the thing needing air to the compressor in the garage. Just the thing for topping up tires on the car sleeping in the other garage, or the always flat two wheeler cart tires, or the zero turn mower…on and on. OK so it takes a few minutes to top up four slightly slack tires on the car, but pulling around hoses and so forth is just as time consuming if not more. I like the auto stop pressure setpoint feature, really like the product range that use these 18 batteries. Wishing the air hose was about twice as long, and that’s about it!

Convenient, powerful, but lacks auto-hold!
Been waiting for a while for this puppy to show up. And finally it's here! Pros: - The air hose is thick and of good quality. Various valve connectors included, to fit almost anything. - Digital display and auto-shutoff at desired PSI. - It's powerful and fills up my bike tire and car tires quickly. Cons - No auto-hold function! You have to hold down the trigger to keep the unit running. This means that if you have a nearly-depleted tire, you're going to be standing around / holding up the unit a while until it's done. - Loud (to be expected from any portable inflator). However, because of the lack of auto-hold, this means that you'll be standing very close to it while running. - Brushed motor. C'mon Makita! For $100 in 2020, I expect a brushless motor. It has a 5 min on/5 mins off cycle time. I believe that with a brushless motor, the unit would've been able to run continuously for a longer time without overheating. Overall, it's a good formfactor. The 12V portable inflator that came with my car has an auto-hold function, so you set the desired PSI, turn it on, and walk away (and avoid the noise!). But that one needs to be connected to a 12V car outlet, so not as convenient in other ways. I guess you have to pick your poison. Add auto-hold and a brushless motor and it will be the perfect inflator!

Compact and Portable
I've been needing a portable tire inflator for a while now, and I finally decided to pull the trigger on the Makita DMP180ZX. I'm really glad I did! This little guy is exactly what I was looking for. First off, it's super easy to use. I just screw on the appropriate nozzle (it comes with a few different ones), connect the hose to the valve stem, and set the desired pressure. The pressure gauge is clear and backlit, so it's easy to read even in low light. Then, I just turn it on and let it do its thing. It inflates quickly and automatically shuts off when it reaches the set pressure, so no more overinflated tires! Another big plus for me is the size. This inflator is really compact and lightweight. It easily fits in the trunk of my car without taking up much space. Plus, the comfortable handle makes it easy to carry around. The built-in LED light is a really handy feature. It's come in useful a couple of times already when I've had to top up my tires at night. It's not a super bright light, but it's enough to see what you're doing. Overall, I'm really impressed with the Makita DMP180ZX inflator. It's easy to use, accurate, compact, and portable. The built-in work light is a nice bonus too. If you're looking for a good quality cordless tire inflator, I highly recommend this one.

Time to throw out that old corded inflator you’ve been struggling with.
I bought this because, like many people, I have an old clunky corded inflator which is a hassle to use. I have to drag out an extension cord, unwrap it, maneuver around all the obstacles in my garage for each tire, double-check with a hand gauge, then reverse the process to put everything away. If you already own Makita products, and don’t need to buy a battery or a charger, this one is a no brainer. It weighs only 2lbs. 4oz. (without a battery), similar to a lightweight cordless drill. No cord to wrestle with. Just turn it on, connect it to the tire valve, set your desired pressure, and press the trigger. It will shut off automatically when the pressure is reached. It is a small device and a little slow. It took about 30 seconds to add 5lbs. of pressure to top off one tire. The lack of a trigger lock is a negative (especially if you’ve got a flat tire that’s going to take awhile to fill), but Amazon sells the Lenink Trigger Lock ($8), which works like a charm (see separate review). Both the tire pressure monitor display on my car and a good hand-held gauge verified the readings are accurate, and there’s a light on it which would probably come in handy if you were stuck on the side of the road somewhere at night. Highly recommended.

Perfect for my needs.
I was between this and the upgraded model. I wanted it mainly to fill up car tires. Specifically to fill what’s considered and XL full-size SUV, so I was nervous that this model wouldn’t be strong my enough or too slow (or anything else that I read while researching). I’m glad I went with this, cheaper, model, as it’s all I need. I’ve only used it to gain a couple psi in my tires from seasonal changes so far, but it did so very quick and efficiently. Especially in larger truck like tires. I’m in the Makita battery system, so was really only between this one and the more expensive model (although I did contemplate buying a new, red, battery system for their air compressor- I’m glad I didn’t). I’m happy with my purchase and it’s much easier than pulling out an air compressor and waiting for that to fill for my use case.

Worth every penny.
I'm not a ”Makita or nothing" advocate, but this air pump is by far the best Makita product I've owned. I have one tonne trucks and triple axle heavy trailers that require 90 psi or more to inflate. This pump fills them all. I've had it for three years and it just keeps on draining batteries while filling up large tires. Worth every penny.
