I was having a hard time making up my mind and one reviewer wrote of this bidet: "just stop analyzing so many models and buy this one, you won't regret it." I did just that and our family of 4 are extremely pleased. 2 adults - 50 years old, and 2 teenagers. The transition to using a bidet was seamless. The 2 women of the house were especially pleased and I regretted not getting one earlier but they weren't asking or pushing for one either. Like everyone else, you'll wonder why you hadn't switched earlier. Our toilet paper usage dropped precipitously and besides a clean bum bum, that feels great too. You'll still use TP though - the process is, #1 do your business, #2 activate the bidet with it's various warmth settings for water and seat as well as location and strength and pattern of spray, #3 THEN dab dry with TP, /#4 THEN flush, then, #5 if you have time, activate the dryer. The dryers are only effective if you have dab dried all droplets. Come on people, there's not going to be an effective industrial sized dryer on these units like there are on bathroom walls so don't listen to any of the complaints about ineffective dryers. There could be a perfect dryer if you wanted a giant module sitting atop your toilet rim. The seat is plenty warm on the middle or lower setting, the soft-close feature (for both seat and lid) are great, the water warmth lasts plenty long for a good, warm, dry feeling - if there's a person waiting to use it right after you, they'll not have the warm water so it'll take a good ten minutes to sufficiently warm but try not to be such a pampered Westerner expecting everything at all times. It was fun upon first hooking this up (I am quite handy but the installation is not too difficult and the instructions are very clear so don't worry). It's quite a scene in a household of first-time users - checking on each other and what they think and how they feel after they emerge from the bathroom. It's hillarious. You feel like a former frontier person having become just a little bit more civilized and wow do you feel clean after using this thing. So don't fuss too much or obsess about every little nuance or any negative reviews, this model works wonders and you will not be dissatisfied. Just buy it.

Was really on the fence about getting a bidet for a while, I had heard great things about them but never wanted to take the plunge because I could not get over the idea of the cold water...Once I realized you could get these with an option for heated water without having to have a hot water supply line - I was in. I did research and read tons of reviews on various models of these for sale on here, read more reviews than I care to admit and finally settled on this one. It was easy to install - In fact I had a harder time getting my old toilet seat off than installing this thing. My old toilet seat had the brass bolts and of course they were rusty as anything and seized so it required a tight quarters hacksaw and lots of swearing....lots and lots of swearing. Once I had it installed which I'd say after the old seat was off It took me a solid 20min + checking for drips etc. after that It was ready to go and we are loving it. I didn't know what I was missing. Our toilet paper usage is wayyyy down. Still need a little to pat dry even with the air dryer unless your patient - which I am not always patient enough. The heated seat feature has been wonderful on those cold winter days/nights and it works well. You probably don't need it the rest of the year but during the winter it's amazing. The water temperature is good. You will run out of warm water if you "rinse" for too long but it only takes a few seconds to warm back up if you "stop" and wait then start the rinse again. When it runs out of warm water it transitions slowly from warm to cold so it's not an abrupt shock like you get if you turn the heated water feature off completely. The only things I don't like is that I miss having a sit-able toilet seat lid. I can't set anything on top of it when it's closed or it immediately slides off due to the slope of the lid. The lid doesn't feel strong enough to sit on but you wouldn't want to sit on it due to the slope anyhow because it'd be uncomfortable. The other thing I don't like is that I don't particularly find it aesthetically pleasing to look at due to the bulky size, extra plumbing, and power cord. However, this is going to be the case on any of these because they all pretty much "look" similar unless you go with a simplistic cold water bidet. So if you want the luxury features you have to give up the aesthetics.

This is our second of this brand - what can I say, I wore the first one out after 4 years. This is extraordinarily good. We bought a different brand replacement and it is going back. What I didn't know I appreciated: 1) the seat height is a little higher (16 inches total height with standard size toilet and this seat). This makes for a safer up and down seating. 2) It remembers the temperature of the water (having to adjust it each time you sit down is a shock at 3 am when it is too dark to see the buttons or your glasses are by the bed, not the toilet). It also remembers the seat temperature - for the same reason - you really don't want a cold seat at 2 am) . The updated remote is easier to see and use. The noise level is appropriate. Especially when you consider the inappropriate noises that occur. The only problems: 1) Advise to remove the HEATED SEAT SENSOR STICKER before you turn on the toilet and heat the seat! The sticker gets melted/laminated to the seat. 2) Is a recommendation - I realize you need a seam on the seat because it is heated and you have to put the parts somewhere, but that seam also collects poo and you need a toothbrush to scrub it out. Or some other similar type brush. Congratulations on an excellent product. All the IBS sufferers thank you. Hubby put this together fairly easily, around an hour including removing the old bidet. You gotta have an electric outlet. We did manage to knock off the little plastic door that goes over the air blower. Since it doesn't affect the operation we are leaving it off.

After spending 2 weeks in Japan, I had to get one for my home. We live in New England and the winters make the bathroom quite chilly and of course the toilet seat gets extremely cold too. So having a heated toilet seat is a huge plus. The bidet itself works really well. The rear, front and turbo spray works as advertised but the oscillating feature was something none of the Japanese hotels had on their bidets. So that feature is pretty cool. While in Japan, I don't think many of their bidets had dryers either. So having that on this bidet is pretty nice too! Installation was very straightforward. I'm a bit of a hack when it comes to electrical work but I was able to tap into power on an existing wall outlet above our sink counter, and extend it down the wall and to the other side of our vanity where the toilet is located. I installed a new outlet there to plug in the bidet. Installing the y-connector and hose to the bidet from the water source was quite easy too. All straightforward stuff. Assembling the mounting brackets to the bidet wasn't too bad either. The seat also has a soft down feature so if you've been a bad husband and left the seat up, your wife can't slam it down in passive aggression when you're sleeping to let you know. However, the bidet tank is a bit too big for our rounded toilet bowl as it sticks out a bit beyond the bowl. As a result, often times water gets splashed around the rim of the bowl and under the seat. Kind of annoying but maybe at some point I'll replace the toilet itself I mounted the remote on the wall of the vanity, not far from the outlet. The remote responds fairly well. It allows you to adjust the temperature of the water, of the seat, and the position of the nozzles. One of my biggest complaints is that the bidet stops spraying after 60 seconds. I noticed bidets in Japan, all of which were made by Toto, all sprayed for at least twice as long. Sometimes 60 seconds isn't enough to clean your undercarriage, ya know? There's no way to override that but you can switch from rear spray to any of the other modes and after a few seconds, it will change over to that new mode without going through the self wash phase. I wish you could just press the button again to get it to keep going

The SmartBidet is a well designed and constructed product that easily interfaces to the toilet, replacing the existing seat. Its features a heated seat and heated water reservoir that is very much appreciated in colder environments, and with variable temperature settings, you can get all that just right to your liking. A position adjustable nozzle wand extends under your bottom when seated and the control activated. The nozzle can be in normal flush or in “turbo” mode that provides a more focus jet for those hard to get places. Addition fun can be had with the oscillation mode, which moves the wand back and forth a bit to cover extended areas in needed. Functions and activation are made with a handheld IR controller. A handy mount allows for placing on a nearby surface for secure keeping. This makes usage of the bidet much easier than having to blindly reach down to the side of the unit to activate various functions. The IR beam seems to have a very reliable transmission to the bidet’s controller regardless as to where it is pointed in the room. The seat and lid are dampened upon moving down so that they cannot slip and crash into the base. This has saved potential damage to these components many times. Having said this and now that I’m used to this design feature, I find that I may now forget that a standard toilet seat/lid may not have dampeners (that’s just me, maybe). The installation connection to the cold water valve servicing the toilet is made easy with the provided hardware, but be mindful that if the separation distance is too far, you may need to find a longer hose. Also, this product does require AC power, so you’ll need an outlet in the room. For my room, I also needed a simple extension cord to reach the end of the provided cord and the wall outlet, which I affixed to the baseboard to make a clean installation. After a couple of years of usage, my SmartBidet began to show functional irregularities where it would not activate. I’m not sure if it may have been impacted by numerous power failures/surges I had this winter, or perhaps the ‘skin sensor’ in the seat falling to detect, but upon reaching out to customer service, a replacement solution was agreed upon. They responded via email within an hour, so I have to say they are very responsive and supportive based on this experience. Without reservation, I recommend this product for its solid design and construction, customizable features, and great customer support. As a bonus, my toilet paper usage has be reduced to a very minimal amount while actually improving hygiene.

Stop your endless searching and comparing. Let me start by saying that I've had my eye on a bidet seat for well over a few years. I started building a house and thought to save all luxury expenses until after the home was built, which is what happened. I've been in my house for nearly a month and this seat was my latest luxury appointment added to my dream home. I know this is a big investment for most of you so I'll break it down as much as possible. Since there is always some kind of compromise when retrofitting something like an existing toilet, let's start with the good, then I'll talk about the bad, if you can call it bad. I will also address this brand versus others. The Pros: It's simply human nature to follow in the footsteps of generations past. Most of us were raised knowing how to use a toilet and after simply wiping with a tissue. The more we wipe, the cleaner the tissue gets, but we all know it only really gets mostly clean. We accept that as good enough since it's simply how everyone does it. The pro part is that this product really works. I mean it REALLY cleans. When you lightly tab-dry your spot after cleaning, there is no trace of anything. Nothing. There is also this sense of satisfaction knowing that you're even cleaner than you used to be. That's also how I felt after moving from a regular toothbrush to a Sonicare years ago. Before I mention the Cons, I'll say that the Pros outweigh the cons by miles. The Cons: There is usually some compromise when you retrofit something. In this case, the seat is a fairly large statement sitting atop the toilet. It's wider and bulkier than a toilet seat and although you'd know that going in, once in place, I lost the beautiful lines of my expensive Toto toilet. Now, if I had to put a rating on the pro vs con, I would say 10 points to the pro and 3 for the con. Pro wins! So yes, I'm completely willing to give up the clean lines of my toilet for this utility I don't want to live without now. So let's now discuss features, price and how I ended up with this particular brand and model. If you're anything like me, you'll read a thousand reviews and compare and compare and compare till you feel you have your best answer. I did just that and thought for sure I was getting a Brondell swash 900 or 1000. It was a better value than Toto and the reviews were great. Only at the time I was ready to pull the trigger did I stumble on SmartBidet and starting comparing features. It came down to this: I didn't want to spend upwards of $500 for something that could fail in a few years, so I made a price limit for myself which was $300 and under. After reading a lot of reviews, I felt the features of this model were on par with others' which were more expensive and reviews seemed to back this product up. I'll admit, I've had this installed for about 48 hours, but I've run it through its paces and I would give up my Sonicare toothbrush before giving this up. Operation: This seat has more things than I actually wanted, but more is better than less. I didn't need a heated seat or even heated water. I live in Southern California, so only time will tell if I ever use either function. On those few cold weeks, we have here in LA, I might revisit these functions. I've tested them, and they work, but I don't feel the need to heat anything. I prefer this remote version to the versions with the controls on the side of the seat, mostly for aesthetics and cleanliness. Also, there is a dryer function that works well, but as another reviewer also stated, you're stirring around a lot of air particles that you might want to leave alone. I will say, though, it does dry pretty well. You'll still need a light tap with toilet tissue. The functions I feel are great are Nozzle Position and Oscillate. Only on my second use did I discover the water pressure + and - function and WOW. The top pressure might take graffiti off a block wall. Okay, not that strong but it made you chuckle right? Variable pressure is a great option for sure. ******* 5-YEAR UPDATE******* So, five years later it still performs like new. Also, I've only had to change the batteries in the remote once in all this time. Also, I have a tip if you're going to buy one: Click the Energy Saver button on the remote so the unit has (2) red LED lights on. One for power, the other for Energy Saver. It will stay in this mode, just verify now and then by looking for both LEDs to be lit up. The reason you want this is so the heating element for the water sprayer only goes on after you sit on the seat. Otherwise, it will be warming the seat 24/7 and since it uses conductive heating, that can cost you on the electric bill. Besides, it starts to warm the water once you sit and only takes about 60 seconds. You need that time to do your business anyway, usually. It might also warm the toilet seat, but let's get real. It's plastic. However cold your home might be, a plastic seat warms with your body in about 5 seconds or less anyway. ***********UPDATE********** Just after the 5-year mark, it started blowing outlet circuit breakers. I thought it was the outlet and changed it. The unit will always work initially, but when I return to the toilet, the breaker the GFI circuit it tripped. I'm now going to consider a new one. I'm not sure if I'll get the same version again or a different one. for 5 years, it worked great until it failed.

I saved for months to replace my last smartbidet, which started falling apart a few weeks after receiving. I was finally able to afford the replacement and install, which I cannot physically handle myself. The bidet nozzle doesn't work properly at all. It acts like its off its track. It doesn't extend more than a couple centimeters, there's light pressure (even from turbo setting), and it squirts water at you after the fan is used. I called Amazon right away and they wanted me to send it back. I could not, as I have no other toilet seat, I have two elderly parents staying here who require this item and I'm not able to physically install a new one. Amazon refunded me without requiring it be returned, and gave me the ph# to SmartBidet to discuss warranty. I just talked to SmartBidet and they were less than helpful. I apparently voided my warranty with the refund. They advised I just buy a new one. They don't have people to send out for repairs, and it would cost me money and watching YouTube videos to replace the motor myself. This is a brand new, out of the box 2 weeks ago bidet! I advised this is not okay and terrible customer service, and asked to speak to management. She put me on hold for a while, then said management was too busy. I can email if I want. That's it. I am out $300 for an install on a broken product they shipped me and nobody cares. I am fine with replacing the bidet, since I got a refund. But I cannot install it myself and do not have that kind of cash to install another new one. I just want help with the install. That's it. I will email management, but honestly, I dont feel good about the prospects of that going anywhere. As a side note, my first bidet from them (purchased 2.5 years ago) started peeling on the seat within weeks. The last 9 months or so, it quit working unless I unplugged for 30 seconds each time. Then about 6 months ago, it never stopped with the cleaning feature after use, meaning it was cycling a gob of water, like your toilet running, but much worse. It had to be replaced. Since I know several people with this brand, I thought my first one was just a lemon. Now I know better. Not only is the product defunct, but they won't assist with repairs or reinstall either. I am out $300 and I can't install a new one, if I purchase it. I would not recommend this product at all unless you have the know-how and physical capacity to fix their product for them. I, unfortunately, do not. Note, the video shows turbo wash, which should be a stinging force of water.

>UPDATE< Two and a half years later, moved to a new house (took the bidet with me) and still going strong. Still use it every time I go #2. Not a single issue, even after installing, uninstalling, moving, reinstalling. After the move, I really missed it for a couple of weeks while I was unpacking and didn't have time to reinstall it. Nothing like a squeeky clean pooper. >END UPDATE, START ORIGINAL REVIEW< I recently spent a week in Seoul, South Korea. My hotel room had a bidet. Being a born-and-bred American, and maybe a bit uncultured, I had always assumed that bidets were a thing for women, so even though it was there in my room I didn't use it for several days. I may not have even noticed it, but the "flush" button was on a panel with several other buttons, so I was forced to at least glance at it, if just to figure out how to flush. Eventually, with nothing else to read, I began to look at the other buttons on the bidet panel. Curiosity got the best of me, and I just had to know what happens when you push the button with the image of water spraying up towards what appeared to be a butt. Well, suffice it to say that the last half of my week in Korea I had the cleanest bum I have ever had. So I get home (to Texas) and immediately start looking for a bidet. I was happy to find this one, with pretty much all the features of the fancy one in my Korean hotel room. I ordered it. It came one day late (day 3 of a 2 day delivery), but I won't knock the product for the shipping issue. It was a bit harder to install than I had hoped, because I live in a house that, while very nice, was built in the 80s and has the same toilets and plumbing that was here when it was built. I had to replace the entire valve behind the toilet and getting the bolts out to remove the old seat ultimately required bolt cutters (which I happened to have handy), but I got it done. The "install" was much easier than the "uninstall" of the old stuff, so again, not really a product issue. I also had to install a power outlet. Luckily I am handy and there was a receptacle right on the other side of the shared wall, so it wasn't too hard. I got it hooked up and plugged in. No leaks, no fouls, no errors. Took me about 1.5 hours, and I'm pretty handy, but again, at least an hour or more of that was dealing with the existing stuff. Okay, so I had a friend over, and I was a bit embarrassed to try it out with him standing there, so I waited until he left. Once I had some privacy, I did the requisite startup procedures (see the instructions) which took about 3-4 minutes (including tank filling and water and seat heat-up time). It was all automatic with the push of a button on the remote. No need to get my hands wet or carry funnels or pitchers of water around or anything. Now for the moment of truth. I must say, there really is nothing to prepare you for that moment. I suggest you start with the normal "back" wash instead of the "turbo". I also suggest you set the water temp to low or medium for your first go. Okay, press the button... wait for it... wait for it... WHOA... Wow.... wait... oh... hmmm... uhhhh... well.... okay... yeah... nice.... yeah... I could get used to this. For the first day or so, I even sat down to pee, just so I could use the bidet. I NOW know that bidets are for women AND men. You have heard this in other reviews and I'll repeat it here. This is the civilized way to clean your bung-hole. I don't know how I could ever go back to the old wipe-and-check method. Maybe for camping or the pre-historic public bathrooms, but I see the bidet as an important part of hygiene just like brushing my teeth now. FYI: The first two or three times I used it, the water spattered a little bit onto my junk. That seems to have stopped once it got broken in a bit. Look, I consider myself to be a manly man, but not a Neanderthal. I no longer see any need to scrub my dookie-chute with a piece of paper, although you may want to do a little dab-drying before running the dryer, just to speed up the process. You can spare a square for that, but no need to get a softball sized wad and hope it goes down. You will use a LOT less TP. Maybe 90% less. Now, as for the "turbo" setting, you may want to keep your finger on the "stop" button the first time you try it. It is not for the delicate skinned. It is probably just short of powerful enough to peel an apple. I'm not sure if it is related to the water pressure in your home. All of the wash functions have adjustable water pressure, but just be warned. That said, if you are worried that it won't be powerful enough to git-er-done, rest assured that unless you are eating lead paint this thing will give it a spit-shine. The dryer works better than expected, but don't expect a leaf blower. Without a dabbing with the TP, you will be there for a while. The air is probably equal to a hair dryer on the lowest setting with medium heat, at best. That is not bad for a bidet, but don't expect what you would get from an air compressor at the tire shop. The oscillate feature works as expected. I wonder if it would cause excessive wear-and-tear on the motor, but so far it works exactly as you would expect. The sprayer arm simply jigs in and out about 1/4 inch each way. It does not turn from side to side, so make sure your stance is centered before you commit to sitting down. Still, if you are off by a little bit, it is pretty easy to squirm around and get it on target. The nozzle is also adjustable using the remote (again, only forward and back, not side to side), so your typical landing should work with a little tweaking. As for the remote, it worked for me no matter where I pointed it, including straight up, down, sideways, in the opposite direction of the detector, or whatever. Keep in mind that my toilet is in a separate small room just big enough for the toilet and the passenger with saloon-style doors, so your mileage may vary. I wound up mounting the remote holder just beside the toilet roll holder, which for me, works fine. I don't even need to take it out of the holder to use it. The seat and water heat up very quickly. It claims it takes about 3 minutes. I use it on medium heat, and it is fine after about 45 seconds, which means, at least for me, even if I turned it on just as I am sitting down the water would be ready long before I am. If you turn the heated seat on after you have already sat down, you will notice the heat within less than 10 seconds. Probably some body-heat assist there, not sure. The soft-close feature is good, but if it is up and you are in a hurry, it may increase the urgency while you wait for it to close so you can sit down. I personally never close the top lid, but it also has the soft close feature, so you never have to worry about the SLAM that you may get with typical toilet seats. One good thing about this setup is that my old toilet seat would not stay open unless I held it open (huge pain in the butt for men when standing) but this one does stay open on its own, so that was a bonus for me personally. I also bought a "glowbowl" type light, which fits fine under this seat. It is a nice accessory "add-on" I recommend when you are buying this on Amazon. Just search for "glowbowl". The SmartBidet manufacturer should consider adding this feature since you already have the electricity right there. I assume the addition of a motion sensor might have other benefits as well, especially for energy saver mode. Bottom line (no pun intended) this works at least as well as the fancy one in my hotel in Seoul, South Korea. If, as others have reported, it works for several years, this may be the best money I have ever spent... At least on a cost per-use basis. I am married, so my wife will probably use it more than me, and it is a sure thing that it will get used more than once per day at my house. That probably calculates out to less than .10 cents per use over its lifetime, more or less. The reduced cost of TP will probably counter the added electric and water bill, if I had to guess. Last point... If you are looking at other ones that cost twice as much as this one (I paid $249) I can say with confidence that this one works just as advertised, just as I expected, and just as well as the "heavy duty" hotel-grade one that I used in Asia. I researched everything on Amazon and this is the one I got. I am thrilled with it. I will update with any new discoveries or problems.

This is a great bidget that is pretty much the same as the ones in Japan. It offers a bunch of features like seat warmer/water warming/multiple washes/dryer and a eco friendly mode. This is great during winter when your house is super cold and don't want to sit on a cold toilet seat. The best feature is the ability to heat your water since using cold water to clean is pretty uncomfortable. The seat is very easy to install and straight forward, you just replace the seat and plug in the hose in the right spot and it is ready to use. My family has been using this for 2 years now and the only issue with it is the remote control glitches every once in awhile, but it works back to normal eventually. Would definitely recommend if you want to save on buying toilet paper.

This thing is amazing. You feel like you just took a shower after every use. It makes you very clean! You will feel like you have been re-born. - Easy Install (20 mins) - very warm water - great pressure - wife loves the feminine wash - blow dryer is fairly useless though. We still need to use a bit of TP to dry ourselves, but overall, we will reduce TP usage by over 80% Well worth the money.
